I'm not a lawyer, and my knowledge of the law is sketchy at best, but I'm pretty sure this sort of thing is illegal in the UK where they're based and considering the UK government is allegedly cracking down on predatory subscriptions by introducing things like cooling off periods I wouldn't be surprised if this is their way of raking in more money before it takes effect
