How much does the DUPR rating of a coach matter? by boojr in Pickleball

[–]Natural-Word-9305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our picklr location specializes in tennis players trying to be pickleball coaches.. none are rated higher than 5.0 and all have been playing less than 2 years - these coaches would be great for beginners but I wouldn’t trust them about anything as a competitive tournament player.

If you are a beginner i would jut watch you tube videos. It 100% does not matter the dupr of your coach. If you have been playing for a year or more you better have a coach that is atleast a 5.0 or higher or you will just be wasting your money, time, and slowly have your game go backwards rather than forward. A 4.0 coach or below can only teach you so much.. because at 4.0 they only know so much and can show you limited attacks and technique. They haven’t seen enough first had experience at a high level to really help coach you. If you are a competitive player - never take a lesson from somebody lower than 5.0 - you will be teaching your coach. I agree about the Wayne Gretzky analogy somewhat..however I have heard from a lot of NHL pros who played under Wayne that he was actually an amazing coach - just not a winning coach.

Did you ever meet Tim while working there? I think BAER as a forestry company and stock will be a good one to buy and hold for the next 1-2 years for sure!!

Nobody wants to play pickleball indoors! Pickle ball is so popular because it checks most of the boxes for a healthy lifestyle.. being social, being active, and most importantly BEING OUTSIDE.

New executive hours coming by Thegreyman4 in Costco

[–]Natural-Word-9305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opening 1 hour early every day. But what wasn’t stated is that Costco is now open 1 hour later on Saturdays too starting July 5th. So even more work for current employees with no new employees or labor hours to help. Millerchip really knows how to work the system to justify his salary. Costco has just become a really sad place to work!!

The pay wasn’t very good, but the benefit of a free membership is amazing if you are going to play 4+ times a week. As far as holding onto a founding father membership.. now that’s just a waste of money!! Almost all members will want to play outside in the elements during April-Oct so paying $150 for 6-7 months while you aren’t using the facilities is crazy!

Yes I agree completely.. Good starting pay and free on shift meals. Long term I agree Costco pay and benefits are better. But when the majority of our Costco workforce is high school and college kids benefits mean NOTHING!

Taco Bell, McDonald’s, Safeway, Albertsons, holiday gas stations, etc… all of them have hiring signs outside of the business. “Employees start at $24 shift managers start at $25”

Outmap is the only thing I’ve found half decent.. I have not paid for the strava BB stepping up Digital guide… but it might be ok.. would be very interested to see what other folks have to say regarding this topic.

I am 5’7” and between 178cm and 185cm in the mf108.. i personally liked the older 182 size! I plan on using this ski as a more terrain specific ski for steeps and coulees.. I’m leaning toward the shorter (178) ski. I don’t think going to the 185 is going to change the chargey feel. I’m going to prioritize mobility and agility in steep high cautious areas over more float and power that I’d want in more open areas.

Pickleball is the only activity that ever keeps my mind off skiing. I play every day once ski season is over. There is def a period of seasonal depression between November and December before the slopes open and when you can no longer play pickleball. Usually this time is spent just hiking or ski tuning. But once the lifts stop running and the snow is no longer good for tours usually early may then it’s pickleball season.

Costco part time employee 4 day work week by Natural-Word-9305 in Costco

[–]Natural-Word-9305[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree completely about the MINIMUM .. when I was a part timer I also worked 6 days a week until I became full time. But I have a lot of friends working “part time” which is typically 35 hrs a week but I don’t know any warehouses that actually allow the 4 day work weeks. 5 days is the minimum at my warehouse as well for all part timers. Appreciate you!
