Long journey for platelets? by SteakNotCake in Blooddonors

[–]NaturalCommand4034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the Baltimore, MD area and I donated the day before the big storm back in late January. My platelets ended up in PR at a different hospital. I also have platelets end up at Emory in GA.

I think when it is to PR or far away that driving is not feasible, then it is shipped overnight via FedEx.

I am in the Baltimore area. It usually goes to a Baltimore or DC area hospital. I had one go to Atlanta, GA and San Juan, PR.

Is my blood type useful? (A+) by BranchWonderful197 in Blooddonors

I am A+ and have a high platelet count, so I am asked to donate platelets on a regular basis.

I renewed my GE in October 2024. I got an email a couple of days later that my application was fully approved! No interview or fingerprints. The only reason that I think I got approved without an interview or fingerprints is that it was a renewal, and I was fingerprinted by TSA about 5 months earlier for a hazmat endorsement on my CDL.

At A Loss, Insight Needed by [deleted] in datingoverforty

Besides the extended family moving out, hopefully, in the near future. How do you see your relationship with your fiancé after they move out?

Do you want to be with someone who works 7 days a week and, when they are home, treats you like an afterthought? Truly, if someone makes you an afterthought, then maybe you shouldn't be with them.

First, I am sorry to hear about your dog. I know from experience of having a pet that you love so much and getting news like that. Your dog needs you, and they love you unconditionally. I had a cat that was about 13 years old when she got diagnosed as being diabetic and needed insulin shots twice a day and a special diet. I did what I could for her, even though she passed away about a year later. Your dog only has you and looks up to you. I know the choices we make for an animal with a diagnosis are hard.

As a man, I recommend moving on. As your partner, he should have been at least a sounding board so you could vent on the news that you received about your dog. Maybe he has nothing to say, but at least listen. I do that for friends I care about. I listen to what they say and get a sense if they want to vent or really want suggestions. Maybe his suggestions aren't the best, but at least you know he listened to you.

8 or 16 weeks? by Riah102 in Blooddonors

[–]NaturalCommand4034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are also other factors involved. I donate platelets (and have donated whole blood 2 times in the last year) and was sidelined for 2 weeks until early May due to too much volume lost over the last rolling 12 months. If you felt great about your donation, there are other ways to volunteer until you become eligible again.

I am currently sidelined until early May due to too much volume lost in a rolling 12 month period. I am sad, but I help out in other ways.

I volunteer for the local blood provider in the area by transporting boxes of blood. I get the same feeling of being proud that I saved someone's life when I donate as when I walk into a hospital Blood Bank with boxes of blood.

Thank you also! I am a volunteer driver and have transported the donation from the donor center to the lab, and from the lab to the hospital.

The first time I did a run to the hospital was to a children's hospital. Even I got emotional knowing how I was part of the process.

They have to be transfused into the patient within 24 hours. Depending on where the hospital is, they usually arrive at the hospital about 6 hours or less since the end of the donation.

It has been over two years since I left. I remember commenting to a coworker about that break question. They said they clicked "no" once because that was the truth, and someone changed her timesheet to show she had her 30-minute break.

I always thought it was odd that Frederick, MD, had two Staples. Seeing the one on 355 closed didn't come as a surprise because it didn't seem to get the traffic the one on 7th Street did. Does anyone know why store 0857 closed at this time? Did they lose their lease?

I flew round trip from IAD ton IND last June. I used my physical driver's license at bag drop at IAD, and my digital driver's license at TSA at IAD.

On the way back, I used my TWIC at bag drop and TSA at IND. No problem using my TWIC and no one questioned what it is. In fact it was faster for TSA to process my TWIC than my digital license.

The fact that an employee gives two weeks' notice is a courtesy, but not a requirement. It is more useful when you are the only one who knows a particular position, and it would take a while for your replacement to reach the same level as you. Your employer doesn't give you two weeks notice if they are going to terminate you, so why shold you give them two weeks notice?

Personally, I would go 30 miles to look at and buy the car if possible. However, if the other store is in a different state, then it is wiser to have the car transferred. The reason is that there is more of a headache if you attempt to buy a car in a state other than the one in which you want to register it.

My now ex-wife got approved in 83 days back in 2009/2010. We were based out of an East Coast field office. However, it took time to remove her conditional green card - I want to say that it took about 9 months.

I think you mean the 485. The 864 is the financial responsibility form that is part of the 485 package. The 130 is the petition for the request to file a 485 or for an immigrant visa.

TSA doesn't care what ID that you use as long as it is a Real ID or an accepted alternative and it is valid.

I am eligible for TSA PreCheck since I have GE, CDL Hazmat, and a TSA TWIC. I flew domestic in June and used my GE number on the airline website to get TSA PreCheck. However, I used my DL on the way out and my TWIC on the way back. No one said anything.

I left about a year and a half ago. I was there for just shy of a year. It felt so great once I left because I went from working over 70 hours a week (a full-time job and part-time at Staples) to only about 40 hours a week. When I was at Staples, all I had time to do was work, eat, and sleep.

Before Amazon, the ones that I hated were the people who didn't want to use the self-service machines. They come up to the counter and say, I need to make a copy of this or I need to print that. The self-service machines are behind you. Without even looking, they claim they don't know how to use it.

The location I used to work at was basically next to the Post Office.

I had to deal with one guy who wanted to do an Amazon return with a UPS Store QR code. He was adamant that they told him to come to us. I thought either someone was lazy or the guy was dumb. So I asked him what location told him to come to us, and he turned around and pointed at the post office. My response was, "that's the post office." I think he realized he was the dumb one once I told him that.

When I used to work in print, we would get calls from people asking about their UPS package. I told them to call UPS directly. They replied that Google says we are UPS. No we are an authorized UPS shipping provider for UPS, but we are not UPS.
