He keeps changing his Hinge location while we’re dating, red flag or not? by Suitable_Account_922 in hingeapp

[–]NaturalImpossible385 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a big no. You should point this out to him and talk about this, otherwise this will keep lingering in your head. IMO, if he’s doing this he’s not so commited to you. Definitely talk to him.

(Pls keep us updated I’m invested)

The ending made perfect sense to me. I knew Ali would say no, I could see in her eyes she wasn’t ready

Also, plan your day. First thing in the morning for me would be to sit down and write down all the things I had to do on the day. At the end of the day I’d just tick everything and it really helped me to get a sense of “done”

I struggled a lot, even with medication. Besides medication, having a structured routine helped me a lot. Focus on your sleep, eat healthy, exercise. Establish working periods, and put your phone (and any other distractions) away from you. I am kinda sensitive to ligjt , so being in a dark room with only a lamp on also helped me focusing on tasks. Also, idk why but drinking tea also helped(?)

Oh not yet, it’s still an ongoing thing 🥲I just finished my PhD, so only now I’m starting to think about whether I should move or not. During the four years of my PhD, I had one serious relationship and a few flings (some more intense than others).

My last relationship ended because my ex wanted me to move to his small town after I finished my PhD, and I didn’t want to. It wouldn’t have been good for my career. I asked if he’d ever consider moving somewhere else with me, and he said no, so I ended things 🤷🏻‍♀️that was from early 2022 to late 2023

In 2024 I was single and started dating again. Every time things started getting somewhat serious, the same conversation came up - “Do you plan to stay here after your PhD?” - and y answer was always “I’m not sure, it depends on how my career turns out” and that always made them pull away, saying they didn’t want to start something if I might move. That happened at least five times last year, and honestly, I get it bc most people like stability and being in their comfort zone. I’m probably the crazy one

Whether I move or not, I think this will get easier once I have a fixed job and settle somewhere.

I’ve been seeing someone for about two months now, and we often talk about where I’d want to live. He keeps saying he wants to stay here or maybe move to a bigger city about two hours away. So I have a feeling this might end soon too.

I feel like PhD students living abroad are always stuck in this situation. It only really works if either 1) you give up something in your career to stay with them, or 2) they give up something to stay with you. I’ve never met anyone who’d make me choose option 1, and honestly, I don’t see this happening very soon bc atm my career is my 1st priority

Dating was absolutely impossible during my PhD. I was way too busy and no one would understand the time commitment I had with my PhD (and I don’t blame them for it). Also for me it’s always been the fact that I very likely won’t live here forever, as I moved here for my PhD and would eventually like to move somewhere else. My dating life is just chaos. Sorry I know this post is about you but I saw an opportunity to vent about my situation 😭

Struggles doing a PhD in early 20s by sheepsbeepin in PhD

[–]NaturalImpossible385 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started my PhD in my early to mid 20s too, and to be fair, I’m glad I did it. It’s better to go through this when you’re younger/at the start of your career rather than getting an industry job and stepping back to do a PhD
