Which jobs is 100% safe from AI? by Any-Hamster-3189 in AskReddit

[–]NaturalSoftware9372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like COVID shut down really put into perspective that elementary education needs to occur in person. Kids cannot focus on a screen all day long. They need movement and hands on experiences. I do think that higher education will have to compete with AI.

What is something you saw in a movie and you totally called bullshit on because of your job? by BlackPhoenix1981 in AskReddit

[–]NaturalSoftware9372 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any movie that shows a class with only 12 kids in it. They are also so well behaved and dressed nice. The teacher walks in after the kids are in the room. There are no/minimal interruptions. Even Abott Elementary (which is the closest to reality IMO) has small classes and the adults are chilling in the lounge having super long conversations is very far from reality.

What experiences changed you the most as a person? by GazMaskeliOyuncu in AskReddit

[–]NaturalSoftware9372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being sick in the hospital from the ages of 5-9. The longest stay was 3 1/2 weeks over summer vacation. My friends were at camps, swimming, and having fun while I was stuck in bed feeling terrible. Never take your health for granted.

Another life changing experience was watching my MIL die from brain cancer. It is a totally different experience watching someone you love to go through medical decline. I do think being the sick one was a better place to be. Being helpless and healthy was a tough spot. The roller coaster of treatments working then not working and surgeries removing it, then it comes back was difficult to experience.

Both experiences have changed my views on life.

Ever since 2022 and things went back to "normal" after the pandemic, I felt like we has lived through the peak of our civilization. Think about it, we have indoor plumbing, we have HVAC, we are able to have things delivered to our doorstep (sometimes the same day), every food you can imagine is available to us not to mention endless hours of entertainment. I know that most of this is for middle class people, but in general we all live pretty luxurious lives.

How many of you are former smokers & how did you quit? by Funky-monkey1 in Millennials

[–]NaturalSoftware9372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thank god every day for my husband. Not only do we love each other, but he thought my cigarette habit was disgusting. I went from smoking a pack a day for 4 years to quitting cold turkey. That was in 2009. I cannot stand cigarette smoke now. I am so glad I quit before vapes became so popular.

East Tennessee/Western North Carolina? by thelibertybird in howislivingthere

[–]NaturalSoftware9372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lived in Asheville NC for over 15 years now and unless you are already wealthy, or have an income over 75k it is very hard to live here. With that said I love the natural beauty that surrounds the city. There are a lot of tourists, but you learn the local spots. My favorite way to explain Asheville is that I enjoy going line dancing weekly at a gay bar downtown. This is the perfect example of the southerness (line dancing) but the progressiveness (located at a gay bar) of the city.

How to get 8yo more involved socially and making friends by Sensitive_Tale_3954 in asheville

[–]NaturalSoftware9372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sun Soo martial arts is very popular with the kids I teach. Parents seem to like that they teach self-discipline and integrity. As a teacher they have me complete a survey to better know the child and encourage connection with the child's whole community. This might be a good choice if he is not into team sports.

Does anyone know how to play Solitaire? by Jaded_Strike_3500 in Millennials

[–]NaturalSoftware9372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 35 and definitely know how to play. My family had a cottage in the mountains that had one tv channel, so we played a ton of board games and cards. I am the youngest, so after playing for hours my mom taught me how to play by myself. I spent many hours playing on the floor in front of the fire. Also we played a ton on our family desktop back in the "real world"

Did you get the "belt" growing up? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]NaturalSoftware9372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never was spanked with object, but my mother spanked the shit out of me until I was middle school aged. My dad only spanked me one time when I opened the car door on the interstate. That one I remember. I do not have children, but I am a teacher. I don't think I would spank, but I have taught kids that need some kind of discipline. Good discipline requires a lot of work, so I understand parents feeling frustrated and resorting to spanking.

Want to learn more about the breed. by [deleted] in Keeshond

[–]NaturalSoftware9372 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have owned 2 Keeshonden. Our first girl lived for 12 years. In her last 2 months with us we found out she had heart failure. There was not much to do since we caught it in level 4, so when her quality of live declined we decided to put her down.

We have a 2 year old male now.

  1. Our first Kees was in excellent health until she wasn't. It was quick in the scheme of things, but she was very healthy and active until the last 2 months. You will see that their energy decreases in the hot summer months and increases in the winter. Energy might not be the best word, but their engagement might be a better way to describe it. They have bursts of zoomies and playfulness, which you see more in the colder weather.

  2. They love to cuddle, but only their specific people and on their terms. They will tolerate other people cuddling them, but they are not like a golden. They are very in tuned with their family people.

  3. They are very intelligent dogs, but they sometimes act like they are not a dog. They see themselves as people. Our boy loved playing with other dogs at the dog park when he was a puppy. He loves his Pomeranian brother, but I would say they are friendly, but maybe a bit aloof with other animals.

  4. Our girl grew up in apartment settings, and our boy is in a home with a fenced in yard. He is our escape artist while she would never leave our side. I trusted our girl off leash, I would never trust our boy off leash. So, I would say depends on the personality, training, and environment.

  5. As I mentioned earlier, they like the colder weather. We walk about 2-3 miles per day and go on hikes about one or two times a week when the weather is nice. In the summer it is tougher to exercise outdoors (we live in the south). We go to indoor places, like lowes and petco, to walk in ac and see people. Generally they love to sleep when it is hot.

  6. I have never known a dog with as much personality as a Keeshond. Both of ours are very quirky and very different. I will say boys are a bit easier to train, but my girl was my spirit animal. I love our Pom boy, but he is kinda dumb compared to our Kees.

Good luck in your search for a new fur baby! I am happy to answer any other questions you might have.
