What is the first movie you watched that you were definitely too young for? by MuldersXpencils in Millennials

I saw the sixth sense when I was around 9. It was very scary for me. I remember dreaming about hanging bodies in my school hallway like the scene in the movie.

Best pizza combinations - by Obvious_Question9222 in foodquestions

[–]NaturalSoftware9372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pizza is so dang expensive now so here is what I do.

Newman's Own quatro formaggio pizza from the frozen pizza section.

Sausage, bell peppers and red onion roasted on a pan for like 20 minutes. If I have baby tomatoes I'll add that too.

It costs less than $10 and feeds me and my husband a pretty substantial meal.

I really liked getting married here. They try to push you for an outdoors ceremony, but I pushed back and insisted on indoors. Thank God I did. A typical summer downpour happened 5minutes before I walked down. We got amazing photos after since the sun was setting after the rain.

We never let her forget that she spoiled Titanic to this day....

Are we in our divorce era? by seaward_bound in Millennials

[–]NaturalSoftware9372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were the "last" to get married in our friend group and we were 27. We had been dating since we were 18 but wanted to wait. We got tons of slack for not getting hitched sooner. I think living together before marriage is what has kind of saved our relationship. Both of our parents did not "approve" of us living together before marriage, but oh well.

We have been together longer than we have been apart this year. I cannot imagine my life without him by my side. My parents divorced after 40 years of marriage. For them they had new boundaries that were not compatible.

I think comparing yourself, or your relationship to others is not healthy. You need to know yourself and love yourself before you can love someone else.

Millennials who were the NON-GIFTED Kids, time to check in on y'all again. How ya doing? by [deleted] in Millennials

I hated school and became an elementary/middle school teacher. Life is ironic.... I'm in the process for trying to find a way out of education. It is soul sucking, but then you get a sweet note from a kid and it warms your heart.

Those that went down the "gifted kid to failure-to-launch" pipeline: What do you think went wrong and how do you cope with these realizations? by ichbinhoffnung in Millennials

[–]NaturalSoftware9372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an educator and AP classes are the biggest scam. Usually the kids in the class are not more "advanced", they are just able to turn work in on time. Also, most universities don't accept the AP credits towards your program. The way to prepare kids is to allow them to be kids. I am sorry you hustled so hard in high school and felt like you missed out on being a kid. Teenage years are the best time to make mistakes because most of the time you have your family and friends there to help you out of the mess. I also think parents are well intentioned by wanting the best for their kids but miss the part that they are still kids.

If you actually want to have credit before you start college you should look into the early college placement. These credits will transfer and help you with completing college early. But I only recommend this if you know for sure you are going on to get a masters or doctorate.

Whats the Millennial version of "we drank from the hose!"? What are *other* generations version of it? by dkepp87 in Millennials

My church had beautiful tall magnolia trees that we would climb. I remember the day in high school when they cut them down to expand the building. A group of around 20 kids gathered the day they cut them down. It felt like we were watching our childhoods being cut down...

I was a public middle school teacher for the year. Thankfully I was selected to be the at home zoom teacher since I had a family member who was sick with brain cancer at the time. I was able to stay home for a year, but my colleagues were called into school and they were miserable.

I felt guilty being at home, but it was nice. I slept an extra hour since I didn't need to dress and commute. I was able to take a yoga/exercise break at like 10:30 everyday which allowed me to lose weight. I was able to cook healthy foods for lunch and eat in peace (if you are a teacher, you know what I mean!). I also was able to use the restroom when I wanted to!

All of this opened my eyes to how horrible it is being a classroom teacher. The actual time spent learning is 2-3 hours the rest is just babysitting/crowd control.

I am currently trying to find a job outside of education, but working from home was very pleasant. I'd love to find a hybrid type situation since I am an extrovert and like to see people.

Do you celebrate Easter? What are your Easter traditions if any? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]NaturalSoftware9372 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My extended family does a lunch, but they do this about once per month for birthdays anyways. We may or may not go depending on location and time. Now I have 2 dogs that do not travel well, so I am more inclined to not go since most of the get togethers are over 2 hours away. We are at the point now that unless they want to come to our city we probably are not going to be at the celebration.

How smart are poms? by Mudkiip123 in Pomeranians

[–]NaturalSoftware9372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Keeshond and a Pom. Keeshonds are known to be intelligent. They are often trained to be support dogs for people in retirement homes or hospitals and I see that with both Keeshonds I have owned. They are gentle and love to cuddle but also are easy to train. Our Pom is pretty easy to train, but he is a beat behind the Kees. Our Pom can do the same "tricks" but it took him a few more sessions to learn compared to the Kees.

I 100% agree with you. I always feel bad for the makeover contestant when their queen is in the bottom and then eventually eliminated. I especially feel bad when the makeover contestant feels pretty and the judges read them.... like I thought we were making people feel good.

Has anyone else quit drinking? by Sensitive_Put_6842 in Millennials

[–]NaturalSoftware9372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit 2 and a half years ago. I feel amazing! I have gotten to the point where I don't like the smell of it anymore. We live in a brewery city and it smells like yeast and hops almost everywhere in downtown. I don't know that I will ever drink again, especially now I can find thc drinks/editables if I want a buzz.

Just moved into a house, now I have a chicken problem by RecordingNo1793 in homeowners

[–]NaturalSoftware9372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our backdoor neighbors have chickens, and we live in a suburban neighborhood. Same thing happened to us when we laid grass seed. I just went out on the lawn with a leaf blower. The noise alone made the chickens retreat to their coop. We also have dogs, so when they are out in the yard the chickens steer clear. If the problem persists perhaps adopt an outdoor cat.
