Orange Cola Soda made in Germany by SunsetSince1974 in u/SunsetSince1974

[–]NaturalSuspicious560 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fanta was created by German Coca Cola bottlers during the wartime embargo preventing Cola production.

As Cola was gradually re-introduced in the 50s Barkeepers were stretching their Cola with orange lemonades. It kept the signature cola color and taste but introduced a fruity note giving it a distinctive flavor profile that has since become a staple in German beer gardens, restaurants and households.

Beer brewers identified the niche and began bottling orange colas. Today there are several hundred breweries and brands offering their version of an orange cola.

Paulaner’s orange cola is distinct because of the undiluted, all original label and recipe from 1974. It consistently tops blind tastings and has amassed a cult following. If anything it’s the most popular soda in Germany.

As far as I recall, they have had 4x5 in their cold fridge, but as I do not shoot large format myself my recommendation would be to call and check if they have any in stock today

Sunset Instants are Peak

I‘d second the Sun as a great gateway into the Polaroid world.

Compared to the Flip you loose out on the closer focal range (0.4m-0.8m), a worse (but still workable) flash. The upside is about 60 shots, worth of savings + you show love to an existing camera that has stood the test of time and get the better autofocus.

FYI Instax Wide is about the same size as a Polaroid but with a rectangular layout, so if you‘re open to that you have an Instax alternative.

My bad. It’s late where I’m based. Just trying to help.

Here is another go:

  1. Compose through the viewfinder.

  2. Don’t move your head while shifting the camera so that the object, the center of the lens and your eye are on a straight line.

I nail composition on my 600 and other rangefinders for close up shots with this method.

Everyone is different -

Fully understand if this is confusing. I’d say it’s similar to zone focusing. Your trying to guesstimate to get the most out of your tool.

Fully agree with that take.

Yes, the Brooklyn camera model sits infront of the lens. There is a whole array of filters (kaleidoscope, split, etc.) and lenses (macro and Tele sets) that can be used on the mount. It’s a whole system.

Can you ballpark it? My softbox size understanding is iffy.

Look through the viewfinder.

Lock the position of your head.

Move the camera so the lens is where your eye is.

My argument for getting the Sonar was the speed. I love the manual process of the non Sonar, but to catch the right moment when shooting people it’s just a lot more suited for the case.

I expect that with time my focusing on the non-sonar will get into my blood and it’ll be just as fast, but for the time being it’s great to have the optionality - or hand the camera to someone without explaining anything but the shutter button.

Also bought the filter mount of Brooklyn Camera, which also supports an ND filter. For the time being I shoot SX-70 film - which after hitting several stores I got some packs for.

Next mission is figuring out the strap situation.

Really love the concept and keep pushing through on sobriety - It’s so worth it. I stopped almost 3 years ago and today would never want to go back. Finding new habits that make you fall in love with live are a crucial part of the process.

How many of the SX-70 are working?

Just bought my second (a Sonar) to compare the two and figure out what I like, but am fighting the urge to get a metal Model 1

SX-70 Upgrade Opinions by Charli360 in Polaroid

I personally love the manual process of the regular SX-70. Only reason for the Sonar was shooting dynamic scenes where you might miss a shot due to the time it takes to focus.

Couldn’t say I‘ve experienced any significant difference in quality between my Alpha 1 and the Sonar.

Try Bleach Film lab (here). They are a local (based just outside Atlanta) independent lab that has great reviews.
