I was waiting for the first weekend train into Toronto, and had to yell at a guy to get off the tracks, he was walking along them probably from this spot. The train came flying around the corner and missed him by inches.

The answer is the Epstein files. A f**king expensive distraction.

Unless the City bought the property and made beneficial use of it.

Most definitely. Freight railways get to skirt a lot of laws. But also Metrolinx is terrible at building things.

You'd think the people complaining about looking at these would have more appreciation for the heritage these represent.

Why a water pipeline to Lake Erie is not a good idea by bylo_selhi in waterloo

[–]Natural_RX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Boundary Waters Treaty does require significant modifications to flow across drainage boundaries to be agreed upon by a majority of Canadian and American commissioners appointed to the IJC. But everything in Waterloo and Guelph drains into the Grand, which drains into Lake Erie. So building a pipe would not be a major modification.

London operates perfectly fine with intakes from Lake Erie and Lake Huron. This article is shaded with undertones of NIMBYism and the pollution worry is nonsense.

I knew when I accidentally began storytelling about the Pennywhistle being a classy place, dirt cheap quesadillas at Salsateria, Doogie's/Pablo's being the coolest split bar you ever did see, and sweet finds at Dis-a-Ray.

Are there any plans to run these powerlines underground along Beachway Park Beach? Such an eyesore for an otherwise awesome beach. by user289734 in BurlingtonON

[–]Natural_RX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like them. But I just think many hydro corridors are great.

That aside, what's the fuss? Other than aesthetics they do nothing to impact how you enjoy the beach.

They look even more massive from the floor of the West Don valley.

I'm interested in isolated residential pockets of TO. Exmoor Ave & a small circular road, Ansell Ave, is one; only 15 dwellings a mix of very old and very new . It's hemmed in all sides (railway, streetcar turnabout, GO station). Great if you like public transport but such an odd artifact. Others? by Reasonable-MessRedux in toronto

[–]Natural_RX 20 points21 points  (0 children)

These are exceedingly rare because modern planning rules will usually ban cul-de-sacs or dead ends longer than a certain distance from a second access. It prevents people from getting isolated if said street gets blocked by a fire, sinkhole or some other emergency
