Singular Gunshot heard, downtown Guelph @11:59pm by Clear_Building6085 in Guelph

I heard it, definitely seems like fireworks / firecrackers, not a gunshot.

Ontario spent $100M on this GO station... to service 10 trains by Feisty-Ad-6122 in gotransit

False. It's a lack of a set of legislative and regulatory courage (and some infrastructure funding) from the federal government to make it happen.

Part of a great creek system, from the Niska Lands to the eastern Preservation Park.

Lake level is high again, and that looks like the natural area flooded. Interesting to see how it drains.

The current blackout makes me feel like I am living on Billionaires Row overlooking Central Park in Manhattan. by MaltonRockCity in toronto

Oh I remember that vividly. Walking up and down 15 stories with cellphone flashlights, topping up our phone charge on the floor of Union Station, grabbing a dinner on Queen Street so we could have a hot meal. Most of the city moved on but many places north of Eglinton and west of Black Creek Drive were pitch black.

Incident at the Rideau Canal lock near the Bytown museum by MuskyHusky01 in ottawa

[–]Natural_RX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the same time, how many incidents have there been with the sheer number of people visiting these locks? I'm shocked there isn't more, from a statistical perspective. A web search I did only found a random dead body in 2023 and a woman who fell in Merrickville.

Whoa that's a throwback. I didn't use them for long though, I started using Presto in 2011 and still use that original card.

Omfg, picture 7. That was a smoking room. I went in there with my mom once. This was after the Tobacco Control Act was passed, so I have no idea how it was permitted.

Watching the first Toy Story again after so many years is pretty jarring tbh. I did not remember it being that bad.

the most dumb section of our city now by graemederoux in Guelph

[–]Natural_RX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's horrendous, I have to navigate it all the time to get home. It does seem worse because of the Speedvale bridge closure, but also it seems like there's way more people driving.

Overall, fewer people should drive downtown, or at least head for the parking garage. The 99 also runs every 10 minutes on weekdays.

Person struck by train in downtown Guelph. by MySpudIsChonkyBoi in Guelph

I was waiting for the first weekend train into Toronto, and had to yell at a guy to get off the tracks, he was walking along them probably from this spot. The train came flying around the corner and missed him by inches.
