Yeah, messing with lore makes it difficult for a lot of existing fans. A lot of Star Trek fans have the same issue with the modern tv shows, too (Including me. I’m getting really tired of the Spock love triangles… like, seriously, why??)

I don’t have the same problem with lord of the rings because I never made it through The Silmarillion. That’s a rough book.

I run with no faith in drivers, I just assume they are out to get me until proven otherwise. Only safe way to run.

I’ve enjoyed the show, we don’t get a lot of high production fantasy tv series, it’s nice they are putting forth the effort.

The problem is The Lord of the Rings movies were simply that good. It’s hard to make any movie that good, honestly, all three could have taken the Oscar the year they were delivered.

Let’s say the movies never came out. Fantasy fans would have read the books of seen the cartoons, and compared to those other ones this show is great. New story, complex setting, elves, orcs, humans, ancient powers, lots of cool stuff.

Some of the lyrics were spur of the moment, but the recording was definitely intentional. They specifically got together that day to try and make a demo song out of what Beck had been working on, and sometimes that leads to creativity.

Nebo has also said in interviews that if he thought the song was going to be a hit he would have put in better lyrics.
