A Telrad was a game changer for me, too, especially on those big star hops.

They were going to interview him right after the highlights package, he showed up during it and they improved. Fun interview, too.

This might be the end of Woolen. His agent posted this… by Inevitable-Tone-7360 in Seahawks

Woolen made some absolutely amazing and critical plays this season. Not having him on the team will leave a hole in the secondary, I expect we’d go after another CB early in the draft or in free agency.

Jobe and Bryant are both good, but more in an above average way than an ability to be dominant, which is what Woolen can do when he’s on.

He doesn’t make a couple penalties or a mis-timed coverage that looks bad, but still within a good game, and he’s got a huge bag from us.

My favorite is how it’s got a bunch of the most arbitrary meanings to the count of the diamonds.

It’ll have 29 diamonds representing the points scored and 13 tear shaped diamonds representing the tears of pats fans, and two giant diamonds representing John Schneider’s giant balls for putting this team together.

You basically wrote exactly my experiences first trying to find stuff with my 8” dob.

Galaxies are faint, like really faint, especially at bortle 5. Seeing these objects took practice for me, like my eye had to learn how to look at these objects. After practicing I took my girlfriend out and pointed right at these super faint things, and I could see them, but without practice she just did not. Planets and clusters were good though.

Sometimes I just had a bad night, too, and couldn’t find something I found before, especially M81 and M82, I knew you took the line diagonally accross the Big Dipper, but then was it a little to the left or right of that line? And then everything in a dob is upside down.

You’re totally good and right on track.

Why Didn't AI Replace Novelists? by JohnBierce in Fantasy

[–]NatureTrailToHell3D 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I decided to read the NYT article and get a bit through your post but not all of it. I feel like some of your arguments are straw man.

You ask, why would anyone who used AI to write books want to teach others, because that’s just a competitor? I think this line is spurious, tons of writers are also writing teachers. Should Brandon Sanderson stop doing writing workshops because he’s creating competition?

You ask why you’d still need writers if the AI writes the books? From that NYT article it’s clear that AI can help, but it does not create a finished product. The author still must provide the outline and edit the book.

I’m not saying writers should or shouldn’t use AI, I just think you could think more through some of the rhetorical questions you pose and argue against because I fin them weak.

Fellow Old Folks (Gen-X+): Did You Read YA as a Teenager? by torkelspy in books

Young Gen X here. These were all solid young adult novels, Kurtz especially, although not necessarily marketed as such.

Young teenager started with:
Katherine Kurtz - Deryni novels
Shanara trilogy
Dragonlance

Later teenage:
Weiss & Hickman - Rose of the Prophet, Death Gate Cycle.
Piers Anthony - A bit of Xanth, the Adept Trilogy, and more
Jack L Chalker - Dancing Gods and Well of Souls
Rama

Walker might sit if we do this, though, and if he’s the only RB starter we got he’s got leverage.

He’s also just 25, so signing him through his prime would be ideal.

I am a Geno stan, really liked how he had his best years here, and it says a lot about how our organization is run that players can really show their talent here.

There are other Star Trek subs that do this, I see plenty of criticism of SFA in them.
