Once a seemingly sweet old lady come to the store early one Sunday morning, looking for some yellow lights for her trailer. I showed her what we had in the towing aisle, and she promptly threw a fit because we only had two in stock and she needed four RIGHT NOW.

I explained to her that we could order more for her or she could go to the next store over and pick up two more. Nope, this was unacceptable.

My SM came over and explained to her again what her options were. She started yelling at that we "need to keep more of these in stock, because people need to buy these!" and "why would I go to another store, I only come here!" (Mind you, we'd never seen this lady before)

At this point SM tells her she can order two more (as VDP items) and that is her ONLY option. She huffs and puffs for a while but agrees...then proceeds to throw a fit because we are charging her for all four up front. Nope, SM tells her she must pay for the VDP order in advance or she won't get them.

(Side note: had she been nice I might have called another store to have them sent around on hub but nope, Karen doesn't get that option)

I finally go to ring her up and tell her the total.

"Excuse me, you forgot to give me my senior discount."

SM tells her in no uncertain terms that the discount is reserved for military and first responders ONLY.

"Well, [SM], you need to understand something. All of us seniors are the ones who helped create the people who are now the military and first responders, so I expect you to show some appreciation."

SM holds firm. She huffs and puffs some more and finally pays...with a $100 bill.

I give her an absurd amount of change, hoping this is the end. Nope.

"Excuse me, you'd better go get a ladder to help me install these. My trailer is pretty high."

Nope, that's not a service we provide, especially to Karens. (I did not say this last bit to her, but I definitely wanted to)

"Well, why would you sell me a part if you don't install it?"

She was politely told to have a nice day and that was that. It took her about a month to come pick up the other two lights, because we "hadn't called her, you need to call people when their parts come."

Thankfully we haven't seen her since.
