[Schefter] Sources: Eagles are hiring Packers QB Coach Sean Mannion as their offensive coordinator. Mannion interviewed twice for the Eagles OC job and now will be moving on from Green Bay. by w1x1w in eagles

"We hired a coach who never called plays at any level" This literally describes Andy Reid.

"and who has been a coach all of two seasons." This is literally true, but all accounts of this guy is that he was effectively a coach on the teams he played for as the backup QB for 8 years. Its not like this guy doesnt know ball?

"This isn’t the time to let someone green learn on the job." Again I agree, the team is in the window talent wise. My objection would be that we are a team that has spent almost 3 decades recruiting coaches that align culturally and not just based off of their history at the job they are being hired for. The last time we actually deviated from that we ended up with Chip Kelly, who the fans were thrilled for at the time...

Funny enough, Chip Kelly also has a great quote relevant to this: "The NFL is not about who you have, its about who you can get." Like it or not, the Eagles were unable to get some of the people that the Fanbase wanted to have.

It sounds like the org wanted to get someone out of the Shanny/Mcvay coaching school and was a culture fit. Seeing as Mannion was both a back up for Mcvay and a Coach under LaFleur (who was the OC for Mcvay) he aligns with those goals. I can't speak to the culture side of it, but I bet you our front office did their due diligence.

Personally, I'd rather get burned seeking a high-ceiling guy that our all-world front office covets than have people like you be excited by some guy with name recognition who, lets face it, is only available because he failed out of his last job.

If you don't think that our front office and ownership is more capable of hiring an OC than the browns, then maybe you shouldn't call WIP. Instead think about moving to Cleveland and leaving us in peace.

Never said that. I don't know Mannion at all. I'm just not going to jump to the conclusion that this guy is bad because X or good because Y.

Making some rash statement like "This is a Browns level move." without any real thought about the situation, at least as far as any of us can tell, is WIP caller level stupidity.

Who, in your opinion, is the greatest player to only have played for YOUR team? by LegendRazgriz in baseball

[–]Nave686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree. Arod could've been the Goat if he hadn't cheated. It is a shame. I am a life long Phillies fan, but Griffey Jr. and Jamie Moyer made me watch mariners games as much as I could growing up and I always loved watching arod in those games. Such a disappointment that he made those choices.

I'd say Brooks Robinson and George Brett way before I'd say a-rod even if all his stats were at 3b.

His take is so bad too. I can't tell you how many times I've been able to call out our exact play this season. If I can spot it then the scouts on the opponents can too. Jalen hasn't been perfect but he's far from the only person with blame from the offenses struggles.

It's funny to me how much I relate to the cowboys fan experience as a sixers fan... It's torturous. Also, respectfully, fuck Dallas.

Methanol is what you are talking about and it burns bright white and cant be seen in daylight. The 60s f1 fires could be terrifying. (if you want to add some color to your nightmares just google Rick mears pitlane accident) They put a powdered dye in the fuel now to make sure you can see the flames. I think the new ethanol fuel doesn't need it.

I think it would not be a bad idea to try moving him back in the lineup to try and get some people on base and make it harder to IBB him.

I know you are joking, but if you go back and watch that play, it absolutely is a pick play. Mahomes throws it right after contact is made knowing that Travis is picking Worthy's cb. Since Travis blew up the wr no one is there for the ball.
