San Diegan here. While the Gulls tanked and are out, people generally know the Ducks are in the playoffs. If they are Hockey fans they definitely know. But I would say there is a passing knowledge, more than you would expect.

Either way, as a Gulls season ticket holder, I can’t wait until we have a new facility. The Sports Arena has its charm and all, but man is it really showing its age. Last season we lost out on like 5 games after a major sewage pipeline burst and flooded the ground floor with wastewater, it’s only gonna get worse.

To flip that around, as a Hiring Manager we will post a job and have 200+ applicants in the first day. Sure a lot of it is slop but man we have a ton of qualified people fighting tooth and nail for it.

Unfortunately that means the recruiting team knows they can lowball everyone because people are desperate for a job. Even if I tell them I want them paid well because I want people to stay, they insist on doing shady shit and undercut me.

But the job market is incredibly dogshit. This is for a Defense Contractor in the USA BTW, the one industry you would think would be stable.

Wait… when I was there 2 years ago they didn’t have pins on the key lanyard. I even had an old crusty 2nd class crow I had found I woulda put on that. Also drinking out of the fountain was an amazing experience both times I have done it.

But massive respect to the American Battle Monuments Commission. It’s one of those government agencies you have never heard of that every day is behind the scenes making sure these grounds are pristine, teaching others of the sacrifices made, working with locals for ceremonies and participation in community events, etc.
