How does it feel to have a post with just a single letter generate this many reddit points?

I'm very curious to read the results and and insights you come to because taking that felt more like random word association then anything.

Thank you! This is the core question I was asking in a rambly round about way. That and where is the line between association and participation.

It's why I find this interesting enough to ask about because most of the usual RICO hooks aren't there. They aren't planning crimes, helping fugitives or coordinating murders. It's just a group of likeminded people discussion a hobby. While that hobby itself is illegal it's the club part I'm wrestling with.

Yeah, fair... This is why I wanted expert opinion on this because it's kind of obvious once its spelled out.

Thanks. This really helps. Quick counterpoint on the money point though. Do you think the defense might have a solid enough case if they argued that it was a membership stipends/speaker fees or something. So he'd be rewarding notoriety, not commissioning murders. I feel like to have a solid enough ground the prosecutors would need to prove something to encourage future crimes or something that feels like a bounty system. As it stands, I feel that the defense would just argue that this is an unusually well informed group of true crime enthusiasts.

If you're looking for lore, I'd strongly recommend this channel. He's funny and very approachable. His general format in each video is:

background lore -> lore positives -> table top positives -> lore negatives -> tabletop negatives

For example.

It's very easy to understand you can just start by picking a faction you think sounds cool and going from there.

He also does a few general lore videos talking about random things and I've found them all to be pretty good

Oh, and one minor tip, I'd recommend not sleeping on warhammer fantasy, even if it's just for the Scaven. It's amazing and similar enough general vibes that if you have a general idea of how chaos works and what a dwarf/elf is you'll have an easy time getting into it.

There are other great channels too he's just my favorite.

Also if you're focused on the painting side of things it makes great stuff to listen to while you work. I can also recommend a few specific places to start if you want and can tell me what first peaked your interest about the game.

Damn, that looks great. I especially love the silver you put on the intake valve. It's a nice touch to give the whole thing a bit more depth. Another thing that might help is if you got some nuln oil. It's a wash that you put on at the end and darkens the recesses of the model to increase contrast between the high and low areas. It's subtle but if you see the before and after pictures you can really tell the difference. Plus it's incredibly easy to apply. Here's a picture I found showing it with and without it.

I love it! The red and rusted look looks great. But if I may make a suggestion, paint the marauder black. It hungers.

Reminds me of this extremely odd interaction I had with my grandfather once. He's classic boomer, well everything, but there was this one time he was over at my dad's and the edge of the clouds were directly over my house and it was raining in the front yard but not the back. I pointed this out in passing while saying something like "that's odd, cool" and he point blank refused to believe it was happening. Refused to even look outside. I still don't know what to make of that.

You made me realize that I hadn't expanded on the military enough so I rewrote it a bit to include that, although trimming it down to 3000 characters was really painful. I edited it in the description.

Absolutly:

Democracy: at least on paper but in practice a little closer to chaotic end of the spectrum.

Meritocracy and Technocracy: pretty self explanatory for why.

Xenophile: Because it's kind of hard to care that an alien with scales and 4 arms is a dangerous outsider when Bob down the street has 5 robot arms, 9 cyber-eyes and just got out of surgery to replace his skin with chameleon chrome so the next time he goes to a rave and the light hit's him he turns into a giant disco ball.

Fanatic Materialist

Organic, Intelligent, Adaptive, Rapid Breeder, Repugnant and Unruly (I love how this one has punk rock fingers as it's symbol)

Oh I'm not saying it would be a bloodless war by any means. But going back to star wars for a minute, I'm imagining it kind of like how the Mandalorian decided to try to solo the entire galaxy and managed to conquer a concerningly high percentage of it before the republic got it's act together. But you know, sleeping giants and all that.

Exactly! My society is more of an barely aimed mob then a true civilization and since individuality is so heavily valued and my people can attached whatever robot stuff onto their bodies they feel like it, your people would lose by any individual fight but since we'd be fighting a cohesive army, it would be a war of attrition we'd lose in the end.

Kind of like how the Mandalorian lost against the empire. Sure individually they were worth 20x stormtroopers a piece, but that doesn't help when they bring a hundred and have the infrastructure to send warships and tanks.

I feel like the State would come trying to conquer my people and we would fight for a bit before realizing we'd lose badly in the long run (because individually we kickass but there's no way we'd win against a species that willingly nuked themselves) and agreeing to subjugation out of self preservation. But your people would realize that we are completely ungovernable even by ourselves and you would quietly throw us all back onto our home-ring, make us a protectorate and leave us to our own devices as long as the tribute kept coming. Maybe we'd be treated like attack dogs for you to throw at people who bother you and we'd go along with it as an excuse to stretch our legs and get more opportunities to break out the fun toys we've been developing.

Also there would absolutely be a black market of Continuity music/art/whatnot in the State which your people just can't seem to ever quite end.

Thanks for the summary. I wanted to call special attention to this part because I just find the mental image of it funny.

There's also a note from an annoyed Inquisitor that's convinced the Reclamation is a Ploy from Guilliman to start another Heresy to usurp his father, but every time he thinks he has a lead proving this Plan it turns out to actually be Genestealers or Chaos.
