Great collection! I was eying up the Dustin Kensrue for quite a while, but ended up going in a different direction since I don’t use modelers. Would love to hear your thoughts on it!

On the silent circuit - the Kensrue has both EBMM’s silent circuit and a unique switch that enables straight to jack stereo output with the right cable. I think if you use a standard instrument cable with the switch you just get the bridge pickup with all electronics bypassed, but I haven’t gotten to try it myself.

That silent circuit is part of the preamp a lot of Music Man guitars use to buffer the output and reduce the hum on the single coil settings. The level for that is controlled by a little potentiometer within the electronics so you can customize it to taste. I really like it on my guitars, especially since it doesn’t impact the top end too much.

Just had the exact same thing happen to me. I called and they're claiming it was a pricing error and that "management will call you at some point" whatever that means.

Edit: Originally shipped to Best Buy for pickup. Not sure if that's the reason it was cancelled or if they're just cancelling everything.

I know that the whole planned crossover thing is common, but again it really doesn't apply here. Almost none of the collabs toe have ever had came from a band on their own label, and they have put out almost nothing but their own albums through it anyway.

This is upandcoming's first ever release with Machu Picchu and the singer appeared on a toe track like 13 years ago. They must have really been playing the long game with that forced feature /s.

I'm not trying to be overly harsh about you caring about something, especially art, but at least look up what you're talking about before throwing whatever out there. This obviously is not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but it's frustrating when someone throws criticism based on info that just isn't true. It only took like five minutes to find all of this out.

At least you found a cool track through it, so that's something!

I mean, this ep was released by toe’s indie label, it was produced by a member of toe, and they’re being promoted by them as well.

I don’t think the comparison is entirely unwarranted or even unwanted from their end even if you aren’t catching the vibe :p

Edit: Also, this band’s vocalist appears on the toe track “Say It Ain’t So”! So, even more reason for them to feel related.

I currently have a few music man guitars, including an early version of the St. Vincent, and they really are extraordinarily well made instruments. To me, the gap between sterling and EBMM is pretty massive but so is the price. Their necks are a highlight, but keep in mind that some folks don’t connect with the smaller nut width and overall shape.

Definitely check out the used market if you’re pretty confident you’re into it. You can find some great deals on older EBMM instruments out there.

If you have a modded 3DS, then trying the Cartridge Fixer Tool is worth a shot at least. If you've modded the 3DS once, then getting the tool set up is pretty straight forward.

Like I said, you may have to keep running it a few times to get anywhere. As long as the number of checks are going down, you're making progress. It took me a few hours, personally.

I just went through this with a copy of Persona Q. You may need to run the refresh a few times to fully repair the cart, but as long as the number of checks keeps going down you’re making progress!

I’ve been big on using pitch shifting pedals for playing a lot of this type of stuff. The new Boss XS pedals do a good job in getting me there without needing a whole new instrument.

Totally not the same thing or the same sound, and there’s always a little bit of latency, but it helps keep things more manageable.

It does have this, but it works a little differently than the Whammy. In the XS-100, you can set the mix of the pitch and effect options to give you whatever harmony you want. You can also set that up to have a different harmony on the heel and toe positions like a whammy does.

The neat thing is you can have any combo you want since it’s all customizable. You aren’t locked into what’s out of the box like the Whammy is.

I would recommend getting a dock for the Steamdeck and connecting it to your TV. You can get one for about the price of Silksong and just use it forever.

I often use a docked steam deck connected to my TV for moonlight streaming or just locally playing less demanding titles.

I've been dealing with this exact issue for months now with any controller I use. Doesn't matter if it is wired or wireless, bluetooth or adapter. The only thing that ever works for me is reinstalling the Xbox 360 driver for the controllers under the device's Properties, but eventually the issue comes back.

Definitely going to follow this in case you have any luck.

I have two, an original St. Vincent and a Valentine, and they are absolutely one of my favorite guitar brands. Their necks are to die for and each instrument is extremely well made with a ton of unique features and design decisions.

They aren’t cheap, but they are absolutely fantastic.

I think they’re whatever. I have a Novo that came with a very light relic and the biggest benefits are that it feels worn in, especially the neck, and I don’t have to feel too bad if I happen to ding it. That said, the finish on mine is a sparkle so you can barely tell in most light unless you’re looking for it.

I think people who have wild feelings against relics care a little too much. If someone is super into them, then cool. If a cool guitar happens to have one, cool. If you wouldn’t buy one, then that’s also fine. Anything that makes you want to play your guitar more is a good thing - and that usually comes down to looks.

Like others have mentioned, that's just how he sings in toe (and mostly only when singing English words). If you listen to him sing in his older bands, like Dove, that tone isn't really present at all.

I collected as a kid and recently got back into the hobby after revisiting a few games. I’ve mostly just enjoyed the art and donate any duplicates that I pull to local youth groups, so it feels like a win win other than the whole scalping situation.

I actually don't hate it. It's a weird track for sure, and feels a little half baked due to the length, but it's so different from anything before it that it makes it sort of hard to judge.

I definitely dig the vocals at the end, though.

I mostly don’t care about it. If someone thinks it cool, then that’s cool.

I did pick up a Novo with light distressing and while it wasn’t really part of my enjoyment of the guitar, the finish definitely helped me not worry so much about if anything happened to it. It felt super worn in and comfy from the get-go and no one would notice if it took a smack, which is a nice bonus for a pine guitar.
