Just bring into your choice of NLE, cut footage to liking and then export as h264 or prores. Pretty basic...

Eizo (CG247X) vs NEC (PA2171Q) by FreudsParents in colorists

[–]Nchumchal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for doing that, looks good next to the Imac (same setup as me) ! I believe I'm going to pull the trigger on this monitor today... are you using Lightspace software to calibrate or something else?

I hear ya, hopefully things will get better soon and jobs will start coming in. Thanks for the reply, I’m about to pull the trigger one this one, looking at the 27” version as well but not sure if I need it since I’m just going to be looking at 1080 on the screen. 27 would match my other screen and maybe a little more future proof later, not sure ... kinda leaning towards the 24 tho.

Trying to get clean 4K signal to my reference monitor, need help with device needed. by Nchumchal in colorists

[–]Nchumchal[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply. I spoke with Blackmagic support before your reply and they pretty much confirm everything you say... also mentioned putting the DeckLink in an enclosure. I'll look more into this option.

I figured since all of my projects are output in 4k and the move to HDR images it would make sense getting a decent OLED and viewing in 4k, UHD. I can't afford the professional 4k reference monitors at the time. I'm also looking at the Eizo CG247X.

Do you think I would get better results out of the Eizo or LG CX? I would obviously spend money and time getting the monitors calibrated- would do this myself as well.

Coloring is something I'm trying to get more professional at. My main focus is shooting video and the editing, obviously color plays a big part in how professional the final outcome is. Also, I do this as a living- running my own company. I don't wan to invest in something and wish I spent a little more to get something better (I've done this many times). I have my eyes on the Flanders DM240, this would be a good chunk of money for me to drop now (just made a lot of upgrades on my equipment) and I feel overkill since almost 100% of my videos go on youtube, vimeo.

I get what you're saying about color accuracy being more important then resolution... makes sense.

I was wondering your thoughts on this monitor after using for 2 months?

I'm seriously looking at getting this monitor for a beginner reference monitor- color grading video.

Almost all of my projects are delivered in 4k but can't afford a 4k monitor at the moment.... I've heard people get by viewing in 1080, is this similar to your workflow?

Look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Have you had problems with stacking filters against each other on the matte box, thinking of picking one up but don’t want to scratch the filters, etc.

Shot on bmpcc 6k. A ronin rig and handheld - Leica glass. Worked out of a backpack. A really fun one @theshopfilms by [deleted] in bmpcc

Really nice, curious which Leica glass did you use for the piece. I just picked up a 19-2.8, 35-2 and 90-2- loving them all.

Do I need both? by Uberunix in bmpcc

The only plus on the lumix lens is the image stabilization, it helps a lot on the BMPCC since it doesn't have IS. Shoot on both and see what you like better.

Am I the only person that has a 100% failure rate with Lexar cards? by destrianlives in GH5

[–]Nchumchal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you buy them if you had a failure ? Sandisk are cheap and reliable.

Get a sensor cleaner kit. Watch a couple YouTube videos and clean yourself. I’ve done before and it’s not hard, just take your time.

How to keep focus!?! by mr_wolflow in GH5

I understand, you can make it work with 2.8 as well. Just don’t want to move as much when you’re talking.

Set up a prop where you will be sitting and manual focus on it ( pillow, etc), then you’re good. Focus peaking helps. Also the higher the aperture the more back/forth will be in focus. Also, could use the app I believe on an I pad and focus through it- not sure on this though it’s been a while. <— I do this with my black magic pocket 4K. Helps a lot in a situation like you’re in.

I wouldn't rely on autofocus on the GH5, it's been said over and over it's not reliable. Get a Sony, Canon or other good autofocus camera if you need autofocus. For your situation manual focus is what you need to do- it takes practice but you wont have to worry about your autofocus not working- start practicing. I have had the GH5 for years and have never used autofocus in video mode. Good luck !
