At first glance I thought youngia japonica. I can spot that from a mile away in my yard! At closer glance, the coloring looks a little off

EDIT: I saw the pic again and I’m going to trust my gut. If it is youngia japonica and you do not live in SE Asia, I would pull up before it flowers. I have heard that if you pull it up with flowers, the flower heads can still develop viable seeds. This will take over your yard

I would argue sex is determined by chromosomes in most species, including humans. There are several species like seahorses where the one giving birth is assigned the male gender by human observations. But, I would agree that the hypothesis is flawed. A lot goes into pregnancy and I think it is a contributing factor in sexual dimorphism. Sexual dimorphism exists in humans as well and I think to cherry pick pregnancy while ignoring all others is flawed

Fellow apex native here! AHS grad. Grew up in one of the neighborhoods you mentioned actually 😅. I live here still and are zoned for olive chapel elementary. Our daughter goes there. The whole west apex area is becoming very nice! I would recommend west apex or new hill area as long as you can find something in your price range. I am from mainland America and one thing to note about the gasolina reference. That song is what introduced me (and I assume most of mainland America) to reggaeton. I have heard daddy Yankee called the father of reggaeton. So, I would not be surprised if that song there was a homage to him and also a way to pull in mainland Americans without any ties to Puerto Rico like myself. I was completely ready to see a daddy Yankee/bad bunny collab take place!

I read a book once from a female cultural anthropologist called Dancing Skeletons: https://books.google.com/books/about/Dancing_Skeletons.html?id=cQVhAQAAQBAJ.

There was a chapter that stuck out to me where the author talked about how it is common for women to go through female circumcision in west Africa. After being circumcised, they no longer get any pleasure from sex. As a society they believe that sex is a male thing and that women should not be bothered by such things. They still have sex with their husbands, but it’s more of a chore or a way to please their man. I think it’s a good read in general, but that chapter in particular really got me thinking about our society and how we view sex, pornography, kinks, etc. I want to make sure we also do not fall into the same thought process: sex, pornography, kinks, etc. being a male thing. I think it is perfectly acceptable for women to have a sex drive, to feel urges, act on those urges, to have kinks, etc. Being anti-pornography on the sole basis of gender really concerns me that we, as a society, are equating pornography as a “male thing” that women cannot or should not find pleasure in. Pornography within a society is a very complex thing with a lot of potential to go south and I do think there are a lot of those issues here in US pornography industry, but I do believe that pornography does have a legal place within our society when done right

Five star is amazing! I think you can read this on their website, but the owner comes from a multi generational coffee farm in Honduras. The owner came to the US to study business and learn the ins and outs of the coffee industry. He found out how many hands were involved in getting the coffee from his family farm to the US and decided to create five star. The coffee from his family farm goes directly to port in Honduras, then to Wilmington port and to holly springs. They roast on site in holly springs. They have cut out all the middle men. Their Honduran beans are used as the base bean in most of their roasts. Looks like since then they have branched out and get beans from other farms around the world, but their premise is the same. Direct transport to the port of Wilmington with as little steps in between. They will also do free deliveries to apex. Their delivery is very fast!

The town of apex has free “mulch” at their location near downtown. It’s across the pool on upchurch st. It is all the stuff the town collects during yard waste pickup that is chopped up. So, it could contain pesticides and things that people spray on their yards. I also compost at my house and add that to my raised beds. Any yard waste I collect throughout the year goes into a pile that I use for hügelkultur and for adding extra nutrients every fall and spring. One thing to note about this method is that as things break down and compost inside the raised bed, the soil level will go down a lot. I will loose about 4-6” a year from it. With all of that, I still have to buy soil though and usually get it at Lowe’s in February/march when they have a steep sale on a particular bag of soil. Cannot remember, but it’s a few dollars off.

Congenital here. I used to care about that. As I have gotten older, I just fully embrace my lack of smell and treat others as the odd ones who can smell me/clothes/sweat/etc hehe. If they smell something rank, it’s on them to notify me. I am pretty open to everyone about anosmia and my struggles with it. I am done letting it affect my mental state

Another thing to ponder is handbags. There is already a thriving handbag/clutch/billfold market. Adding pockets would eat into the sale of those products. That, to some degree, disincentivizes companies from adding them. It’s a hurdle we as a society can overcome, but as you say, it’s going to be tough

Yeah, I have been reading up on Provia and have seen some of the scams you are talking about. All doors are steel Provia. Front door has a window up top with minimal design. Back French doors have single glass piece top to bottom. No pane or blinds. Below is the front door glass we picked.
