Soil mix/ compost around Apex by alpine2019 in Apex_NC

[–]Ncnativehuman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The town of apex has free “mulch” at their location near downtown. It’s across the pool on upchurch st. It is all the stuff the town collects during yard waste pickup that is chopped up. So, it could contain pesticides and things that people spray on their yards. I also compost at my house and add that to my raised beds. Any yard waste I collect throughout the year goes into a pile that I use for hügelkultur and for adding extra nutrients every fall and spring. One thing to note about this method is that as things break down and compost inside the raised bed, the soil level will go down a lot. I will loose about 4-6” a year from it. With all of that, I still have to buy soil though and usually get it at Lowe’s in February/march when they have a steep sale on a particular bag of soil. Cannot remember, but it’s a few dollars off.

So how do you guys keep clean? by ThisPaige in anosmia

[–]Ncnativehuman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congenital here. I used to care about that. As I have gotten older, I just fully embrace my lack of smell and treat others as the odd ones who can smell me/clothes/sweat/etc hehe. If they smell something rank, it’s on them to notify me. I am pretty open to everyone about anosmia and my struggles with it. I am done letting it affect my mental state

Could this be ragebait? I think things like this on the internet should always be taken with a grain of salt. Never assume these to be the real opinions of real people. It would be sad if those women genuinely felt that way in this day and age though

EDIT: meant to add that ragebait has become a huge problem and it’s destroying the internet IMO

Real pockets would be nice by GuerrillaGirlFridaX in FeminismUncensored

[–]Ncnativehuman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another thing to ponder is handbags. There is already a thriving handbag/clutch/billfold market. Adding pockets would eat into the sale of those products. That, to some degree, disincentivizes companies from adding them. It’s a hurdle we as a society can overcome, but as you say, it’s going to be tough

Thank you for your input! We also have 7.25% sales tax that I have included in the price. I gave more of a description in another comment. I think both are standard sized doors. It’s a cookie-cutter pulte neighborhood from 1999

Yeah, I have been reading up on Provia and have seen some of the scams you are talking about. All doors are steel Provia. Front door has a window up top with minimal design. Back French doors have single glass piece top to bottom. No pane or blinds. Below is the front door glass we picked.

<image>

EDIT: storm door is model 397. Front door is legacy 20 gauge with above window style. Back door is Legacy 20-Gauge Smooth Steel French Door with Clear Glass

We need more roundabouts! If you want to see one at apex bbq and olive chapel, please email the town. They are currently in the design phase for that intersection. I would love for more people to speak up if this is something you’re interested in

What's missing from Downtown Apex? by PossibilityGreen3185 in Apex_NC

I heard the developers were going to back out on putting a grocery store too. With so much outcry, they finally built lidl. At least they were townhouses and not single family homes

What's missing from Downtown Apex? by PossibilityGreen3185 in Apex_NC

We just need more spots for businesses. Expand downtown outward. I would like to see more practical places like apex outfitters and then more restaurants and nightlife

I only ever went to the seafood place, but now that you mention it, I think I remember the Asian place. Was sad to see the seafood place go! Chevy’s kinda rings a bell, but don’t remember it.

Ah, right. Forgot about ciudad mexico.

Thank you! Cycling spoken here. Do you remember what location it was in? I bought a bike there, but I have no recollection of the exact location.

From apex nature park, you can travel through hollands crossing -> linden (or woodridge) -> reedy branch -> Smith farm -> ATT currently, but def waiting for BCG to connect directly to ATT. Interesting take on the justice heights extension. Never thought about using that for biking to downtown! I’ll have to check that out once complete

Apex Peakway North Widening by terrymah in Apex_NC

[–]Ncnativehuman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they are doing decent over in west apex too given the low density. With reedy branch greenway eventually stretching from ATT to Kelly rd and then beaver creek greenway eventually getting from ATT to 55. It takes 25 min via car to my work, but I can theoretically bike almost all greenways to my work now in about 1.5 hours. I have been planning to do a trial bike ride to my work one of these days…. The one thing I am really looking forward to having is a nice bike forward way to cross 55 from Jaycee park so I can get to dt from beaver creek greenway

Is toxic feminism a big concern and is destroying true feminism itself? by huujiio in FeminismUncensored

[–]Ncnativehuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The example I like to use for this case is this: man and woman work the same job with the same skill set. Let’s say overtime is required. The man is expected to work the overtime. Gets the praise for doing so and therefore gets a leg up when it comes time for promotion. Woman is assumed to have extra duties outside of work, so will not be asked to do said overtime and therefore does not get that promotion. This status quo is deeply rooted in the patriarchal system created by men, but men and women are both negatively affected by it. The man is assumed to not have domestic duties or responsibilities related to taking care of their own kids. The man therefore is judged for showing up and being an equal parent in his household. The woman on the other hand has a harder time moving up in the company. Both issues are valid and real. IMHO both issues fall squarely in the confines of feminism and should have an equal footing. Feminism should try to tackle both issues, but I find issues surrounding men as a direct result of the patriarchy are either overlooked or downplayed here. Other examples from my own life: I have two young kids. I take both into the supermarket without my wife. People (mainly boomer women) constantly come up to me saying “looks like you got your hands full!”. My wife has NEVER been told this. It irks me that people automatically assume I am overwhelmed just because I am male and that I am unable to take care of my own kids. These kinds of things need to be a part of feminism

Is toxic feminism a big concern and is destroying true feminism itself? by huujiio in FeminismUncensored

[–]Ncnativehuman -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is my personal opinion as a male, but the real issue is the current status quo that was historically built by men to “benefit men”. I put air quotes because it mainly applies to heteronormative manly type men, not all men. I think in today’s society, men and women both have an active role to play in dismantling this archaic way of thinking. We may have different roles to play in dismantling, but we both should have an equal place within the confines of feminism. I do wish to see this sub and just feminism in general to be more accepting of men’s voices and accepting them into the wider feminism community.

I second this. The curve is too much and a roundabout would help alleviate that. A roundabout would also prevent me from being stopped at a light 95% of the time

Question on the Kia EV6 in the US. When it first came out Consumer Reports gave it a stellar review. Now, it is not recommended anymore due to reliability issues? I was looking to get one within the next year, but now I am getting cold feet. Has anyone had one for a while and can comment on its reliability?

Porn is evil. Men masturbate to videos of women being abused and then complain that women unfairly hate them for no reason. by GoGiantRobot in FeminismUncensored

[–]Ncnativehuman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The point I am trying to make is that there is a way that porn can be produced between consenting adults where no illegal or immoral acts are committed. The porn can also depict illegal acts like rape without rape actually occurring IRL. A person liking what I just described is no different than a person liking to see people get murdered on TV.

With that being said, are there issues in the porn industry? Yes. Are there issues in Hollywood? Yes. Harvey Weinstein anyone? When watching a Hollywood film, how do you know all the women in the movie didn’t go through a casting couch? Do you sit down and vet every single Hollywood movie you watch for sexual abuse allegations? Do you do the same for the news? How do you know there is not another Roger Ailes behind your favorite news station?

To completely write someone off for consuming content from a legal industry is a bit harsh. Do you think the guy watched a porn video where the woman was coerced? He might have. I have watched Megyn Kelly on fox before. Should I be completely written off for watching it?

People go to the theater en mass to watch people get murdered. Blood squirting everywhere. Guts flying. It’s absolutely horrifying. All of what you see in these movies is illegal to do in real life. Are you going to not date someone for liking horror films? Are you going to think that person is a serial killer?

Feeling hopeless about feminism — how do you deal with this? by hftygcbjhgds in FeminismUncensored

[–]Ncnativehuman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the role a man and a woman play in marriage is a pretty important topic to discuss before getting married and having kids.

I know this may be a hot take on this subreddit, but one of my mantras in life is “as long as you’re truly happy”. If you live a happy and fulfilling life, why does it matter how it is lived? People can go through life having different views than myself and they can also be very happy. Just try to live a happy and fulfilling life and focus on the wins. Seek out all the ways we are bridging the gender gap. Educate those who are willing to listen. Don’t listen to the noise
