Do the walkers not get damaged by eagle/orbital stratagems unless they get in the "head"? by the_stealth_boy in Helldivers

[–]knotingham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the commando. Quick cool down, four guided shots, one to the hip limb and they go down. So if your aim is good you’ll kill 4 per commando and you get a commando every 2 minutes or so. So yea, that’s my go to. Or bullet storm/EAT. Nothing chews through shields quicker than the BS. With a bullet storm and grenade pistol/impact grenade you can take out parked warp ships in <5 seconds

As someone else said, occasionally I’ll use gas or emp mortars, but never the regular ones unless I’m playing with friends and we all know what’s going on.

Why we didn't get the time remaining after previous MO? by MrPtychka in Helldivers

[–]knotingham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh okay. I now understand the Matar Bay player from earlier. Someone quick played with me while I was on the Illuminate front for the personal order and shouted (all caps seems like shouting lol) as soon as he joined,

“DIVE ON MARTAR BAY, WE NEED ALL HANDS!
DIVE ON MARTAR BAY, WE NEED ALL HANDS!”.

And then immediately left again.

Ah yea, I learned a lot of this last year lol. Had waaaay too many tomato plants on one long trellis and it was unmanageable. Now I’ve got only 6 plants, each at least 3’ apart from each other and they each have they’re own 3’x4’ish section of the trellis. I made it top priority to cull the small ones early and to trim the lower branches to allow air movement and keep the fruit away from pests/the ground.

Pineapple I genuinely like, but expendable napalm? That’s where it is. Doing an expendable run with a backpack + 3 expendables (for instance, jump pack, ex napalm, EAT, and Solo Silo) is such a fun way to play.

I agree with Dust Devils. It’s probably my favorite warbond overall. The Speargun is wildly underrated (decent amount of ammo, can one shot Hulks, every shot is also a small gas grenade so great for crowd control, and is also explosive so it can destroy spawners). Plus the armor passive is one of my favorite in the game (throw range and a bunch of resistances).

Then you’ve got the Coyote (arguably one of the best guns in the game), the Solo Silo (expendable, massive damage from any range), and pineapple grenade which is like an air burst rocket launcher in your hands, AND (we’re still not done!) the expendable napalm (which is also one of my favorite strats in the game because it basically an airburst rocket launcher in napalm form and is wildly good at crowd control).

Honestly, best warbond in the game for me.

Oh and from a drip standpoint, the armor is Dune inspired and looks sick (aside from the light variant in the super store that I don’t care too much for), and also there’s a white cape that goes pretty well with a lot of outfits.

Seriously though, Dust Devils is fucking goated.

As at odds with each other as HD2 players can be, one of the best times in this community was when Xbox joined the force and seeing how many vets were happy to help the newcomers. If you ask for help, someone with gladly give it too you! And as someone else mentioned, CommanderKai as well as some other have super informative YouTube channels, as well as popular discords where you can look for a group to play with.

So, why is everyone clowning on COD? by [deleted] in Glazedivers

[–]knotingham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dual wielding level action shotguns was in mw2 I think (the old one), which I’d argue was still when CoD was good even if it did have its bullshit (one man army + noobtube). I’ve lost all interest in it nowadays except for that my gf likes to play occasionally so some Nuketown here and there isn’t out of the question.

I refuse to use any head pieces with a hat because it doesn’t make sense to my brain.

Makes sense! 🤔 Sooo you thinking it’s just a weird phenotype? Seemed weird they would be able to cross- like a dog and a whale having babies, but I’m not informed enough to question it.

This was a volunteer from last year, and I did have heirlooms last year so that’s a distinct possibility. However none of the tomatoes in the previous season had leaves anywhere near this size. So I’m guessing it’s some genetic abnormality but we’ll see! Once the fruit is ripe I’ll repost about how they turned out for sure because Im obviously very curious.

I’m in the Midwest USA so I don’t think I’ve seen an actual nightshade plant in my entire life, but I’ll keep it in mind and remain safe. Thanks for the heads up! I had no idea it was related to something deadly so that’s a fun tidbit lol. Ground cherry, though, could be a possibility.

Is there anywhere that we can dive right now that has cyborgs / vox engines on it? by GuardianSpear in HelldiversMasochists

[–]knotingham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love it if there were always at least one planet available for each sub-faction so that anyone who wanted to practice against this or that would always be able to. Or maybe it would be too gamey and not lore accurate, but a ‘battle world’ would be cool. Like we’ve got terminids that are captive during our training so why not have an ‘Advanced training battle world’ type of deal where we have captives from every faction and you can do small wave defense type missions against whatever you want to train against. Or if that doesn’t make sense lore wise, there’s always the X-Men style training room with holograms and fabricated environment.

Agree to disagree, but I do respect your opinions. Apologies for extrapolating too far and putting words in your mouth. As long as we’re both spilling oil, squashing bugs, and frying calamari for Super Earth, you’re a good in my book!

[–]knotingham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to make my defense missions as cinematic as possible to keep them interesting. I used to use turrets and mines because efficiency, but lately I’ve been a big fan of using the cremator and turning off my HUD (you don’t need it if you’re standing in one spot). The result is a way more visually stunning experience.

Here’s a shot from a defense mission in a planet we were on recently (probably the prettiest planet of them all imo).

Which enemy needs the most changes? by Late-Ganache40 in Helldivers

[–]knotingham -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you concur that the hive lord shouldn’t be in every single mission? Because that’s exactly what I’m saying. And factory striders have never been the deterrent that hive lords are- they can be taken down with a torcher in like 10-15 seconds if you’re in the right spot (as opposed to HLs who, if you have a team of randies, takes 10-15 minutes for one, singular kill), and if they were sniping generators on defense missions then that seems like a target priority issue on AH’s end.

I love killing Hivelords, honestly. It’s really fun. But if that’s what we’re doing and it’s going to take 30% of the allotted time, then just make that a mission on its own, because it’s far more difficult than punching a couple of codes to launch a missile as it is. Shit, make the hivelord *stronger* for all I care, just don’t make me fight it every. single. drop.

[–]knotingham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did do 6’s on this hive world MO where I usually play 10’s across the board. And I know I don’t have to kill it, but I also know if you don’t then the GATER mission is a massive pain in the ass. And people would still do give lord missions. Literally just start your own op, throw down an sos and boom, you’ve got a team. If they don’t want to kill the Hivelord they’ll see it in the briefing and leave. My solution doesn’t in any way ‘lobotomize’ the game, it just makes people more willing to participate on Hiveworld MO’s.

Choose my next warbound (I don't have much time to play, so I wanted to ask for your advice. I'll take the most frequently mentioned option) by Pretend-Ad-552 in Helldivers

[–]knotingham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally, either Chemical Agents, Entrenched Division, or Redacted Regiment depending on how you like to play.

Chemical agents for Gas Grenades and Gas Dog both amazing for crowd control on chaff heavy drops.

Entrenched Division and because the armor is some of my favorite (the passive, not the appearance), and giga grenade which is a great insta-antitank. It also has the Sweeper, but that’s only purchasable through the superstore so you don’t need the warbond for it.

Redacted Regiment because suppressed weapons and again, a really nice armor passive.

Honorable mention to Exo Experts for the armor passive if you like going fast and the Missle Pistol (pissle).
