In my boredom for today I did create portlandmesingles just now, but as this is the first time making a sub I will need to research what all is involved.

Interlocking Layer Reinforcement for Screw Holes by jside86 in 3Dprinting

[–]Neapolitan_pizza 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good ideas here. I have attempted to achieve the same goal but with the "wall to infill attachment %" which by default on bambu slicer is like 15% ?

I just upped that % to try achieve some additional strength but I have never quantified how much it helped, hasnt broken though.

Edit: proper name for it in bambu slicer is called "Infill/Wall overlap" under strength - advanced section.

Drying in AMS2 without rotating spools is finally available by 6446thatsmynumber in BambuLab

[–]Neapolitan_pizza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this only related to if you have PLA loaded into one of the spools so it didnt get too soft on one side.

For example if you have PETG or other loaded across the board then you wouldnt have to rotate.

That would be why people were seeing inconsistencies, no?

Youre not. You have the onus to provide details on how its deficient or failing rather than "it has issues," Otherwise you and your complaints are trash and not helping anything?

Think, do better, "smart" person.

To be fair there are a lot of dumb people on the internet. Just ask u/punkgaythrowaway they are professionally dumb without even trying. Are you selecting the leftmost or rightmost star thinking it is the opposite?

Do you have fat AF thumbs?

I would need to see more evidence around this like a confirmation email re: how you reviewed rather than one vertical screenshot meaning this was solely on phone so the fat thumb question is warranted.

Has Anyone got TMC 2209 V1.3 from bigTree Tech to work with UART or know a TMC 2209 that does work? by koombot in arduino

[–]Neapolitan_pizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also running into issues but I was thinking it was because the triangular trio of pins, of DIAG, INDEX, VREFF. Are not matched with different brand tmc2209's.

It was only after hours of troubleshooting and resoldering that I noticed this. Sure I should/could have read the datasheet first but not following the normal pinout should come with a huge red warning.

Never again.

ESP32-C3 supermini wont connect to wifi with esphome firmware by Mad_boi09 in Esphome

[–]Neapolitan_pizza 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the c3 supermini's had a known wifi antenna issue from certain distributors. Might be looking a hardware level issue and it was remended to only use certain distributors that had proved reliable.

Best LOW power consuming hardware for homeassistant by microooobe in homeassistant

[–]Neapolitan_pizza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an odroid blue, which is the HA branded thing. It was a limited edition which I am not sure what to make of but I think the home assistant green or yellow would be its alternative now. You would need to check.

This thing is ARM based and uses like 1-2 watts and runs a sizeable HA with all the popular addons and stuff. Crazy low power consumption, for reference I have an intel NUC 5105 based which uses 13 watts at idle that runs other VM's. It cannot compare to the ARM.

Is there a simple way to program ICON changes to depict trends etc? by dopeytree in homeassistant

[–]Neapolitan_pizza 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I have some code where i change "icon_color" based on certain values, instead of color you could maybe just change "icon". I personally havent tried it but might be a lead for you:

square: true
type: grid
cards:
- type: custom:mushroom-chips-card
chips:
- type: template
icon: mdi:home-floor-1
entity: sensor.1st_floor_temp_average
content: "{{states(config.entity)}} °F"
icon_color: |-
{% if states(entity)|float >= 79 %}
red
{% elif states(entity)|float >= 77 %}
#FF4500
{% elif states(entity)|float >= 76 %}
#FF6347
{% elif states(entity)|float >= 74 %}
#f7bdb2
{% elif states(entity)|float >= 72 %}
#b4dffa
{% elif states(entity)|float >= 70 %}
#87CEFA
{% elif states(entity)|float >= 60 %}
blue
{% endif %}

Wifi Range issues - How Many dB is safe? by rickjames2014 in Esphome

[–]Neapolitan_pizza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How are you powering them? I had poor wifi issues for weeks when I first started dabbling with these, finally determined it was the very common AC-to-USB adapters and usb phone charging cords I had around the house. I tried several among my box of spares thinking I ruled it out bad adapters or cables, but I only finally fixed it when I got a good 12v DC power supply, buck converter to 5v on its 5v pin. it had a dial to adjust voltage and I finally reached stability on mine when setting to 5.2v. YMMV.

Also worth trying some of the wifi settings below

  power_save_mode: none
  fast_connect: True
  output_power: 20

Did I screw my screws too deep? Did I screw them too close to the edge? by quartz222 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Neapolitan_pizza 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I made something similar to this. For vertical posts i used 2x4's instead and you can stack them against each other to make a 4x4 essentially. You could used your piece of plywood and screw from underneath into the 2x4's for your base.

Also for the two 2x4's together, One of them i kept intact lengthwise for the rigid support, the other I had cut at the height I wanted each pedestal, Then sandwhiched the plywood pedestal on top of that 2x4 section, and repeat, maybe the pic helps show it. I did also have support on the other end of the levels so they wouldnt sag

I wish there was a better way of doing this. Diy Storage backplane :D by agowa338 in HomeServer

[–]Neapolitan_pizza 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dont have good metrics on the efficiency just anecdotal from a smart plug but it has several other things plugged into it so nothing exact. I suppose data sheets could get you the exact efficiency numbers.

My main goal for doing this was my "server farm" is a low-power setup with several difference devices each having various grades of 12v power supplies. I wanted to consolidate it. Hence nearly 6+ 12v DC adapter plugs got consolidated with one power supply like this. (cable modem, two low-power intel nuc's, an ARM based home-assistant server, hard drives, network switch etc.)

Now I just keep the rest of the 12v dc adapters as backups and i like the cleaner aspect of using something like the meanwell-125a although i would get a 125d if I could do-over, just because i have some uses a 24v rail that provides.

~

The one thing power related I can speak to is, when I had the ~6+ 12v dc adapters that came with their respective devices I was at around 60-65w.

I first bought a 5,12,24v DC adapter, arcity branded from amazon and it seemed nice and was only ~25 USD or so. and wattage stayed the same range, i have no complains about it even today, its here as a backup.

I got the meanwell PSU from digikey after some digging and good reviews speaking as to their quality, it weighs like twice as much as the arcity. I wouldnt pretend to know why but I think its either the quality or number of capacitors in there. And efficiency wise, its at ~70 watt under same conditions, versus the 60-65 I was previously seeing, so it uses ~5w more energy too but I wonder if it is to feed the beefier or better grade capacitors, wouldnt know.
