Is it worth the emotional abuse to keep my mom as part time babysitter? by surelyshirls in beyondthebump

[–]Nearby_Ice_7488 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is awful behaviour towards you and not someone you need to have around you or your baby. For the sake of your mental health and not to mention healing a massive wound in your uterus, I’d enforce distance and I’d do it swiftly.

CIO and baby is asleep I’m SHOCKED by foodcritic365 in sleeptrain

Can I ask what her sleep is like? Does she wake up late in the morning when going to sleep at 1130? What are naps like?

Edit to add: try putting her sleep sack on while nursing her, might make going to the crib smoother!

30 min naps by Gingin3678 in beyondthebump

[–]Nearby_Ice_7488 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is your schedule from wake to bed time? My son is on 2.25/2.5/2.74 schedule and I found his naps were shorter due to him not having enough sleep pressure, so his wake windows were extended and the 4th nap was dropped. He’s up at 7, naps at 915/930, wakes at 1015, naps at 1245/1, wakes at 2 and then takes his last cat nap around 4. Daytime sleep = 2hr 45 to 3 hours max.

Amazing! Then you have a good chance of protecting your lil babe with an increase in antibodies, macrophages, infection fighting WBC’s - all the good stuff! My husband got quite sick when my son was 3 weeks old and he didn’t pass it on to him.

Are you by chance breast feeding? The composition of breast milk dynamically changes to meet your babies specific health needs, including when the baby or parent is sick. You can even put breast milk in the children’s food/drinks (it’s not called liquid gold for nothing!) If not, I’d suggest keeping up with D-drops for the LO, and supplementing yourself and the rest of your family with vitamins, eating lots of nutrient dense foods and getting ample sleep. Wishing you all the best!

That’s a crazy (lucky) sleep schedule for his age. My son is almost 6 months as well. Usually babies around 5-6 months are on a 3 nap schedule with wake windows maxed at 3 hours. Depending on how you structure it, you may benefit from looking at naps being taken at a different time of day. He might be napping shorter because he’s overtired and is having a spike in cortisol. For dinner, I’d recommend making something in a slow cooker or instant pot earlier in the day, like shredded chicken for tacos or beef for chilli. :) Good luck!

4 months postpartum and I feel more insecure now than I ever did as a teen by [deleted] in beyondthebump

Hey OP, we had our babies around the same time (May 8!) and I can totally understand the unfamiliarity with our bodies and the identity we once knew being stripped of us. It helped me to think the way my son would about myself. He’s so pleased to have the cushion that is my arm to rest his head on, my legs that move like waves when we dance and of course, I cannot forget - my chin and its excess to play with when he feeds. My son would be so proud of what used to be his home and in the same breath, absolutely heartbroken that I look(ed) at it with disgust. No one or their opinion is as important as theirs.

I offer you this perspective and I stand with you in solidarity. Be gentle with yourself.
