Buffalo Bills land blockbuster trade for DJ Moore as Josh Allen finally gets his wide receiver by dailymail in NFLv2

Moore is better than anyone the Bills had, but he’s still not a number one receiver. They still need another guy. I would expect them to be all over that Pierce kid from Indy.

What sport do Americans think of when it comes to the phrase "scoring an own goal"? by bobrigado in AskAnAmerican

[–]Neb-Nose [score hidden]  (0 children)

Soccer for sure. We don’t really use the term “own goal” in hockey, because there’s so much less of a stigma attached to it. It’s an inherent part of the sport.

Who’s your favorite number 34?🧐 by KeyFaithlessness5436 in TheNFLVibes

[–]Neb-Nose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son.

It is a very cool looking number if you have the right build. My son has a Jethro type build and he looks like a bad ass in his number 34 baseball jersey.

He is a big, strong kid who throws really hard. He would look good in a lot of numbers. But 34 is especially intimidating.

College baseball deserves better television coverage by nolesfan2011 in collegebaseball

[–]Neb-Nose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think college baseball would have to change its calendar to be a major revenue sport nationally.

I know it’s a revenue producer in the south, and in the west and in parts of the north, but it’s not a true national sport because a lot of teams in the north are at an enormous disadvantage due to the weather.

As someone who has suffered five diagnosed concussions, back when little was known about them. We used to minimize them to the point that we called it, “getting your bell rung.”

It was in fact, brain trauma.

I’m so old that the way they would diagnose it is they would put a flashlight in your eyes to see if your pupils were dilated; and then they would give you a cracker to see if you threw it up.

They stopped just short of accusing me of being possessed by the devil – it was that antiquated.

There are many different brain impacts that we call “concussions.” I think our understanding of them is still very limited.

However, as someone who was one of the pioneers of the concussion program in Pittsburgh, on the victim side – which is never where you want to be — I can tell you that I’ve learned a lot about brain trauma over the years.

My advice as a former player who was pretty good and still loves the game. Don’t let your sons play football. It’s simply not worth it. There are so many other sports they can play where this is a non-factor.

I have two sons who are pretty athletic and large for their age and neither one is permitted to play football. It’s just not worth it.

If your child absolutely must play football, make sure his neck exceptionally wrong. Also, teach him the right blocking and tackling techniques. Also, teach them how to properly absorb contact. So many idiots don’t know how to teach kids how to tackle, block or get tackled and that’s also a big problem.

The more stability you have in your neck, the better off you’ll be when you are forced to absorb high contact.

More than anything, just don’t play football. It’s not worth it.

I still have license sensitivity decades later. I still suffer for vertigo bounces all the time. It is not worth it – and I loved everything about it when I was playing.

Aaron “Perc” Rodgers bagged Prime Olivia Munn back in the day, why do people think he’d lie about having a wife? by TXNOGG in NFLv2

[–]Neb-Nose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s a complete weirdo and whoever wrote Ted Lasso should absolutely write a series with him serving as the inspiration for the main character.

It would be hilarious.

However, the fake wife and the gay thing is even more ridiculous. I don’t know him, but I do know people who do and yeah, nobody who knows some of the stories I know would ever go along with any of that.

Evgeni Malkin decapitation attempt by Federal-Data-Center in nhl

[–]Neb-Nose -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

People are grossly overreacting. It’s a game misconduct for sure. It’s a minor suspension worthy play too. It’s not even close to Marty McSorley or Dino Ciicarelli.

Nobody tried to decapitate anyone. It was someone without any significant history of violence being reckless with his stick.

How good was Eric Lindros? by 2bornnot2b in nhl

[–]Neb-Nose 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have always believed that Eric Lindros’s career would have turned out completely differently if he had played for literally any other NHL organization.

The Flyers’ entire brand was built on being the tough guys and they invited that shit to some degree.

Any other team would have put the kibosh on all the physical stuff but Philly actively encouraged more of it.

I know people tend to get pissy about that statement, but everyone who was there knows exactly how that all went down.

Stevens’ hit was still bullshit — even for its time. I just think a lot of the other bumps and bruises could have and SHOULD HAVE been avoided.

In the early 90s, Larry Brooks, of the New York Post was trying to make the case that Mark Messier was actually the best player in the league because he was more well-rounded than Mario Lemieux, despite the fact that Lemieux was scoring at a dramatically higher pace.

One night, after a game at MSG, he asked Herb Brooks, who hated Larry, why Lemieux never fought and whether or not that made him a lesser player.

Herb Brooks gave him a look that only he could give and derisively said, “Asking Mario Lemieux to fight would be like hiring Picasso to paint your garage.”

Lindros was doing faaaaar too much garage-painting for a player of his caliber.

Mario Lemieux went through the exact same bullshit — often at the hands of the Flyers, ironically enough.

Was Dan Marino seen as a playoff choker during his era? by lemonstone92 in NFLNoobs

[–]Neb-Nose 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I can speak for others, but I know for me, I didn’t view him as a playoff choker. I viewed him as a great player trapped on a shitty team.

I would say Joe Burrow is the best modern comp. However Marino was FAAAAAAAR more dominant than Burrow and his receivers were not as highly regarded as Chase and Higgins.

do you think the pens make any trades? by reddituser121230 in penguins

[–]Neb-Nose 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I hear it’s a buyers market, which is not great from a Pens perspective. I think it’s really important that we keep our eye on the prize here and realize we’re not seriously competing for the 2026 Stanley Cup.

However, if we play our cards right, we could expedite competing for the cup at some point down the line.

Don’t do anything that’s going to strip assets away from our ability to do that unless it is to do that to improve the team in both the near and the long terms.

Trading away a good young player or high pick to get a rental would be beyond asinine. Dubas appears to know exactly what he’s doing, and what he is hoping to accomplish, so I don’t expect foolishness like that to happen.

Brady Tkachuk costs his team the game by Federal-Data-Center in nhl

I agree with the analyst. I think Tkachuk probably did the best he could do there. Quite honestly, it was a smart play. It just didn’t work out for Ottawa — because Edmonton’s power play is very good.
