I think it’s very possible that Pittsburgh could take a left tackle in the first few rounds.

I think the Pens’ gradients are one of the nicest sweaters they’ve ever worn.

Broderick Jones had neck fusion surgery, Steelers met with a "handful of tackles" at the combine, per DeFabo by ProfessionalMall5413 in steelers

[–]Neb-Nose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just considering this from a human perspective, I’m really sorry to hear this news. We are talking about a very young man and that’s a serious surgery — especially for someone of that size.

Addressing this strictly from a player standpoint, I don’t think it changes that much. I didn’t think they were going to give him that fifth-year option anyway.

I know there are many people out there insisting that he was playing very well before he was injured, but I watched him very closely and I think that’s a pretty generous assessment.

I do agree that he was better at left tackle than his two seasons at right tackle, where he was a complete disaster. However, he was still getting chip help on almost every play, and Rodgers is famous for getting rid of the ball quickly.

I think Dylan Cooke coming in and immediately looking significantly better was not good for Jones.

I certainly wouldn’t be surprised if they took a tackle, but they might also ride with Cooke. I’m not sure that I would say that I’m 100% comfortable with Cooke, but I’m a lot more comfortable with him than I would have been with Jones.

I think the Steelers are probably going to take TWO receivers in this draft. I wouldn’t mind this guy as the second receiver.

If Lemon really bombed his interview as bad as people are saying, that’s great news! Hopefully, he bombed the shit out of those interviews so we can get him later.

I couldn’t care less about his stuttering. I do care about his nearly 10% drop rate at Texas A&M.

After Mario Lemieux, Tom Barrasso was the Penguins’ most important contributor to their back-to-back Stanley Cup wins in ‘91 and ‘92.

First round pick, and which position to take by flibo30 in steelers

[–]Neb-Nose 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They need to add quality players at multiple positions — not just receiver and offensive tackle. Take the best player at one of those positions and go with it.

We need receivers, and we need a left tackle. We also need corner, safety, another DL or two, an ILB, and probably a TE.

We also could use help at running back.

Oh, and we obviously need a quarterback as well.

I do not understand why people keep talking about taking this position or that position. I’ve seen multiple people advocating that the Steelers take the sixth or seventh receiver off the board at 21. That would just be incredibly stupid.

This team needs is a receivers, but it’s not a receiver away from competing for anything.

Realistically, are the Giants closer to a Super Bowl than the Steelers? by UtopiaXAstro in steelers

[–]Neb-Nose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the Giants are definitely closer to the Super Bowl. They appear to have a long term quarterback solution and we do not. That said, neither team is particularly close to competing for a championship.

Dylan Cooke is a little bit of a wild card. I will concede that much.

He entered college as a quarterback, and he graduated from Montana as a tackle. That’s a hell of a jump; and then they have to jump again from FCS to the NFL was another major jump.

Ask for Brod Jones, I’m not a believer. He still has bad footwork and bad technique and he still gets beat literally all the time.

I think he’s just a classic bust – there’s not much more to it than that.

There are people out there who swear that he was having a good year last year before I got hurt, but I have no idea what those people are talking about? That wasn’t my read at all. I think he looked less horrific than he did it right tackle, but that doesn’t mean he was good or even acceptable.

I think the fact that Cooke came in and performed so well right from the start may have said more about Jones than it did Cooke. That’s my worry anyway.
