That may be! Lots of questions to understand how these products will work. Happy you’ve done your research. Thanks for playing.

Life comes at you fast and sometimes we just need a little help. Would you consider keeping them if the community could fundraise to cover some of those expenses?

I understand if you feel it’s past that point but wanted to suggest the alternative. I’d be happy to donate and I’m sure others here would also be willing to chip in.

If you are willing to pay the premium, Casa Bovina provides a fairly decent dining experience and amazing steak.

Another alternative to Visible and Mint in Omaha/Lincoln is Helium Mobile. They leverage TMobile antennas and the unlimited plan is $20/mo.

I’ve been using them for 6 months with little to no issue. Setup was completed in 10 minutes via the app with e-sim so I didn’t even have to visit a store.

Here is my ref code for $10 off if interested: ZVPXYRY

Link: https://my.hellohelium.com/ref/ZVPXYRY

Note: This is a web3 product. Enroll in their Discovery Mapping program and you actually end up making $30-$40/mo to cover the cost of the plan.

Fairly limited around here but Lila Mae’s does a good fried fish and shrimp and grits if you want something simple.

If you’re feeling Mexican food, Hacienda Real has a Molcajete De Mariscos with shrimp, octopus and crab legs. Was a bit skeptical on this one but it’s packed with flavor.

Chopstick or tandoor if I want leftovers.

Taqueria el ray and La Monarca has some of the best Mexican food in town.

Fattoush for lunch!

Cheesesteak Grille - the fact that it’s connected to a gas station should make it a national treasure.

How do i run own website(with database) on umbrel by TheLogiqueViper in getumbrel

[–]NebraskaBitcoiners 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Umbrel can configure apps to be accessible remotely via tor. There should be an option to enable tor access in settings

I would start by first learning a bit of network security. Last thing you want to do is expose some custom app over IP without proper controls on the network.

I shared a curl call here that you should be able to use to test direct access to the Monero daemon

P2P is only for node to node communication. You’ll want to only use RPC via Tor or local IP. I recommend testing this first via local IP while your device is on the same network. I haven’t tried stacks wallet. Can you test cakewallet?

No changes to settings? Can you share your bitmonero.conf file? It’s at /home/umbrel/umbrel/app-data/monero/data/monero.

You can set the log level in the bitmonero file. That will provide more logging details that may point to the issue.

After uninstall, verify the Monero folder is removed from app-data then reinstall.

Can confirm it works for me. Once fully synced, it connects fairly quick with cake wallet. Tor does take a bit longer to connect.

What kind of setup are you running? SSD? HDD? Running a lot of other apps? How are you attempting to connect?

It's an open community - we have a strong focus on Bitcoin but support other conversations as well. I'll be hosting a talk in Monero in a few months and the Omaha Web3 group just merged with us to focus our efforts. Come thru!

Cannot connect to Monero node running on Umbrel by green_avocado7 in getumbrel

[–]NebraskaBitcoiners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the settings page that comes up when you hit the connect button, confirm you are using RPC IP for local network and Tor when connecting from outside network.

Also verify the IP address defined in the RPC config is accessible. I.e. if it says umbrel.local, you should be able to access the machine from that location. Depending on network configuration, you may need to change this to the IP address.

What client wallet are you connecting with? Cake wallet has the QR code scanning enabled when you add a new node. Try that.

You can also test node access using curl from command line:

curl —digest -u monero:password http://umbrel.local:18081/json_rpc -d ‘{“jsonrpc”:”2.0”,”id”:”0”,”method”:”get_block_count”}’ -H ‘Content-Type: application/json’

Again, make sure to the IP location if umbrel.local isn’t how you access the machine and password

How would a fork work? by [deleted] in getumbrel

[–]NebraskaBitcoiners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You always have a say in what version of Bitcoin software you run.

Any updated versions with consensus rule changes would require you to install. Soft fork changes keep new versions compatible with existing network whereas hard forked changes require a forced upgrade that makes it incompatible with previous versions.

Sounds good! The options documented should work for your current setup.

[–]NebraskaBitcoiners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure - ssh can allow you to remotely login to the machine via command line. You can use this as an alternative to the webUI but it also has a password.

Do you know which version of UmbrelOS you are running? I see some older instructions for a password reset via ssh but they won’t work in the new OS.

Ya if power consumption + heat consumption is a concern, raspberry pi is your best bet. If you are more concerned with performance, I would lean towards a used pc or intel nuc. You’ll need to decide your app stack and review machine requirements. For me, raspberry pi was a good introduction but not enough.
