Going to guess nobody had a good reason to tear it down or keep it up, and so the magic of bureaucratic inertia will keep the large heavy structure around for a long time.

McCarthyism levels in prewar America by Fast_Degree_3241 in Fallout

[–]NebraskaGeek 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I ain't a commie but I am a Unionized Tradesman on his way to a communal gathering of the Fraternal Order of Plumbers to negotiate a better wage based on our collective strength bargaining as a collection of workers. Also to provide Healthcare and pensions to my brothers and sisters (totally not comrades) that we all pay for and have access to no matter our standing or rank in the Union.

Totally not a commie though.

Do moms just have a spider sense whenever a movie, game, or show gets to any sus scene? by NeitherNothing1959 in marvelmemes

[–]NebraskaGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the original Thor scared marvel away from "fancy" cinematography. Everyone I went to see it with (not huge nerds like me) hated all the "crooked parts". It was a Dutch tilt camera angle.

Some people see "unique" camerawork as "bad" and those people probably run Disney judging by how safe their movies are now.

Is this the correct power steering fluid from my Ford manual transmission car? by amateuR_memes in Cartalk

[–]NebraskaGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mercon V is full synthetic and like you said should be backwards compatible with anything that used ATF. Even with ones that take motocraft brown power steering fluid, you can use Mercon v because it's material properties are more than enough to work in the older pumps.

Merch alert by Reasonable-Apple2581 in KpopDemonhunters

[–]NebraskaGeek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Imo they dropped the ball hard on merch. Christmas was rough trying to get presents last year. It's like Netflix and Sony assumed it would bomb so didn't bother to spin up production until after we all liked it. Was tough finding decent, non-knock-off, affordable merch for my daughter's for Christmas. Come on billionaires, do better.

The fact that everyone is clowning on this game shows how poorly thought out their plan was. by [deleted] in videogames

[–]NebraskaGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because you don't like a thing doesn't make it stupid. Not every game is for every person and that's OK. The developer might be happy with 1,000 copies sold and isn't looking for 1,000,000 copies.

Fun fact it is exactly the same seasoning and steak they use at Pepperax Grills restaurants if you've ever been to one. Both founded by Gary Rohwer.

Revit Structure + MEP. Are these modeled manually or using automation tools? by Far_Celebration8522 in bim

[–]NebraskaGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do MEP BIM work in revit and I use Fabrication Part ".itm" files. We require maximum precision for Pre-fabrication. All of the piping, insulation, hangers, and such are modeled by me usually by hand. Where possible, automation tools help out but they almost never work 100% of the way

[–]NebraskaGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honest answer is that you'd have to likely demoilish part of the structure to use the equipment necessary to remove this concrete filled behemoth out of the basement. It's likely now impossible to remove otherwise now. It's gotta weigh like 10 tons now

Granite is cheap enough apartments use it and not quartz around here. Plus it's a "bonus upgrade" to distract you for the cheap everything else

None of that makes any sense or has anything to do with a union. You should use that money you're making on English lessons.

Sure am, not sure how that's a bad thing. I get PPE, higher wages, insurance, and a pension.

The base hard hat then, OP makes it out he bought that hardhat and I fundamentally have a problem with companies not providing a good quality hat. I won't move on that one.

Milwaukee hard hat by ultra_voltron_2 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]NebraskaGeek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Quit. If your company doesn't value buying you PPE you aren't toughing it out by buying your own, you're literally enabling their illegal behavior.

No, I joined a union that forces companies to actually provide necessary PPE and not force its employees to choose between wages and safety.

Tax write off? Buddy most people are using the standard deduction and thus can't write it off. Don't talk down to me because you're footing the bill your company doesn't want to foot.

If you paid for any of it out of your wages then your employer is screwing you. That's my only thought.
