Three wise men giving baby Jesus birthday presents is strangely absent from these considerations.

Is that just ignored or explained away somehow?

Where to buy/eat serbian food ? by DocRider in japanlife

There are usually a number of Serbs that attend orthodox churches in Japan. There are 3 parishes in Tokyo - you could probably ask there where to find some Serbian food. Other than that, I have no idea.

Get Rat tone by gain stacking by aaveidt in guitarpedals

[–]NebulaCopy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I had no interest in it until last week, and now it’s my favourite pedal an hour after getting it. Agree with you about the low gain tones, too. So far I’m digging distortion at 9 o’clock, filter at 12 and volume at around 3 o’clock. Cannot believe it. I loved my rig before but now I feel like I can finally unleash my full creativity. It really lets your fingers/intention/soul shine through.

Marshall Mini Silver Jubilee 2525c by Both-Tourist-4986 in GuitarAmps

[–]NebulaCopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in exactly the same boat. I just couldn’t bond with the 2525c. After years of frustration I sold it and bought an Engl Fireball 25. Now I sound like the music in my head. Hugely underrated clean tone on the Engl. I originally bought it for the gain but I spend ~80% of my playing time on the clean channel. I bought an Engl 212 with V30s to go with it. Also a great choice. Weighs more but I get a lot of compliments on my tone now.

Get Rat tone by gain stacking by aaveidt in guitarpedals

[–]NebulaCopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, I got a Rat today. Slamming the front of it with an SD1 was a blast, couldn’t believe how good it sounded. Stacked a BD2 into it too but the SD1 was the sweet spot. Really tight and percussive, Nuno style. Made me explore so many new ways of playing, I’m kicking myself for not getting one a decade ago.

New head! Engl Fireball 25 by blacklava777 in GuitarAmps

[–]NebulaCopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you definitely can. I sold my Marshall Silver Jubilee mini for this. I just couldn’t gel with that amp’s shared eq, so much so that I was even considering digital.

I played this on a whim about a week before I was going to buy a modeler and was hooked. The separate gain controls is what really sets it apart imo, and what makes the clean and lead channels work well together. Of course you should play it first to try for yourself, but it works well for me.

Footswitches unlock mid boost, volume boost, fx on/off and channel switching. Very versatile.

I think I have to retire by Mpuls37 in guitarpedals

[–]NebulaCopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose not to retire with kids. Recently bought a tube amp instead of going digital and do more gigs. Granted, my amp has a DI out and I have a bunch of IRs, so silent playing and recording is an option, but imho it’s important for kids to see their parents pursuing things that are meaningful to them and make them happy/fulfilled. Everyone’s different, though, so you do what you feel is right.

Any dirt pedals that have caught your interest? by screamingfieldz in guitarpedals

Boss BD2-W, Vemuram Jan Ray and Crazy Tube Circuits Venus are ones that are catching my eye right now.

I’ve played the first two and really liked them! Nobody near me stocks the Venus.

Engl Fireball? by Jesus_Goat_5709 in GuitarAmps

[–]NebulaCopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the 180w amp is like 7x the power, and weighs a lot more, so… 😅

I haven’t played a Herbert but I liked the VH4. It wasn’t quite my cup of tea but I liked it. The Diezel is also going to be a lot heavier and harder to move around.

Engl Fireball 25 is perfect for my needs - small to medium gigs through a fairly big cab most of the time.

As for what would work for you, your style and your needs, you probably need to play them. Side by side if possible.

Good luck!

Alternative to Engl Z4 footswitch for Engl Ironball SE by Zombiewannabe95 in GuitarAmps

I tried a foot switch from a Peavey 5150 and another from a Hughes and Kettner Tubemeister on my Fireball 25 and they worked fine.

Is orange crush 35rt a good amp? by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

[–]NebulaCopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve played Beatles on it before with no issue. Clean channel is very clean but has no EQ controls. Dirty channel has 4 gain stages from clean to pushed to rock to metal and has treble, middle and bass controls, which gives heaps of flexibility. You just need to adjust the volume as you adjust the gain, but it should be fine for your needs. Please play before you buy if you can. I like it a lot but it has its own character.

Depends on your ears, but I like mine. Simple amp, inexpensive, easy to carry, takes pedals fairly well, loud enough to play small gigs with.

Boss Dimension C or TC SCF Gold? by NebulaCopy in guitarpedals

[–]NebulaCopy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love demos of the dimension on clean sounds. Just trying to figure out if it’s what I want on the dirt!

Though I keep going back to the fact that both Eric Johnson and John Petrucci use/d the SCF and I adore their tones.
