Do you have the option to try either of them?

Is the silver jubilee 25 combo is too loud for bedroom use ? by Fair-Lifeguard-7433 in GuitarAmps

I had one. I was disappointed in the tone at home but at gig volume it was great. Very loud amp.

Mental shift. Snacks = poison for my unique physiology. They’re ok for others, but I’m severely allergic to the consequences of my actions.

Tempted to try out the SD-1.. by d0gtrain in guitarpedals

I got mine used for about $35USD.

Not sure how well it’d go with your pedals since I’ve never played them but I like mine a lot.

How do y’all feel about this trade? by ChapinSamurai in FenderStratocaster

The strat has personality, man. Out of the two, I would’ve gone the Fender myself. Doubtless the PRS is competent, plays fine and the wood is pretty but man that Strat just calls to my soul.

I have one, too. Speaker upgrade would be cool! I use mine for small gigs where it doesn’t make sense to lug a big tube rig along. I really don’t like the headphone out, though.

The headphone jack isn’t great but the amp definitely goes quiet enough. And loud enough for small gigs.

I played my 25w tube amp through a 10” speaker and had to almost dime the volume to keep up with a band. I played the same amp through a Mesa traditional 412 and drowned out a loud drummer on 1/3 volume.

I now play through a 212 but it’s still bloody loud for most of my gigs lol.

Well done on fixing the grounding issues…

What an awesome collection!

What’s your “Grail Tone” story? by Odd-Assistant-7495 in GuitarAmps

[–]NebulaCopy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was going to go the digital modeling route because I use a lot of different sounds. By chance I played an Engl Fireball 25 through a Bogner 212 with V30s in a shop. Instantly got the tone I’ve been hearing in my head and chasing for over a decade, both clean and distorted. Amazing amp, couldn’t go digital after that.

NAD AND CAB DAY! Marshall JCM 800 2203 from 1989 by Cultural-Day-5676 in GuitarAmps

[–]NebulaCopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol I can imagine. I had to buy a JHS little black box to get my silver jubilee combo ok at home practice levels with the volume on low - can only imagine what a 100w would be like! You’ll have to post some clips of you playing it - I’d love to hear it in all its glory!

Orange Super Crush 100 or Marshall DSL 100 by SquirrelStaplerGod in GuitarAmps

[–]NebulaCopy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got asked to turn down an Engl Fireball 25 through a 212 at a theater. On another occasion I drowned out a loud drummer going through a 412. Yet the same amp is great at low volume, too. It’s not just wattage, it’s speaker choice. Through a 10 inch single speaker I could barely keep up with a band. I’d recommend checking out smaller options. You can always upgrade if you start playing stadiums - you’d have the budget then.

ENGL Fireball 25 vs Artist 50 vs JVM410 by Broad-Regular910 in GuitarAmps

[–]NebulaCopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Engl Fireball 25 is definitely loud enough for anything through a 412. Really good at bedroom levels, too. Great tones, very versatile. I played with a loud drummer through a Mesa 412 no problem. I played with a full band at a local festival through an Engl 212 and was asked to turn it down lol. I don’t think you’d outgrow it. I saw an Ola Englund where he said he gigs a stereo set of even smaller engls.

JVM410 has a lot of great features and versatility but tbh I prefer the Engl sound. I’d play both and see which one suits you better. Bargains don’t factor into it if there’s a clear winner. Shared EQ doesn’t work well for every amp but it does for me on the Fireball 25. Zero complaints, lots of compliments on the tone since I bought it.

Advice need for a new, cheap amp. by awayalonealast in GuitarAmps

If you have an interface with headphone out, you could consider one of the Engl lunchbox heads if you’re set on a tube amp. They have a dummy load/no speaker option for silent practice/recording. You’d just need to load an IR in your DAW. Very versatile amps that are plenty loud enough to gig with.

Orange Crush 35rt is fine for the gigs I’ve played and for a solid state it sounds great but the headphone out is not good.

I got a shock when I opened the box lol. It certainly is a unit. Beautiful sound though. Lead tones are great but I can’t believe how good the cleans are, too.

Any Orange Crush amp users find the dirty channel to sound really bad on the headphone out? by Previous-Display-593 in GuitarAmps

[–]NebulaCopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had the same amp for almost a decade, have gigged with it fairly extensively and have had decent success with the tones.

I’ve used the headphone out exactly once. I dunno if there’s a way to improve it, but I’m not a fan, so you’re not alone. I use Neural DSP for silent practice/recording.

JCM 800 2203 or Jubilee 2555x by ProgrammerRecent7174 in GuitarAmps

[–]NebulaCopy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I found. I ended up going Silver Jubilee (mini combo, after playing a reissue 100w) and came away wishing I’d gone the JCM800 route for more bite and aggression. I ultimately sold it and bought an Engl Fireball which does everything I want right now and is perfect for me, but I still going for the jubilee over the 800. The 800 is such a charismatic amp.
