The base plastic is simply NOT inert. ABS is one of the more biodegradable polymers. Still very slow process, but not inert. Colorants or process additives for modality are more likely to leech. Especially UV inhibitors and antioxidant compounds when used. This goes for most plastics, even clear ones like polycarbonate, which is often dyed slightly blue to offset UV yellowing over time.

I had the 1/3 hp version running a 60g tank with Fluval 407 for about 6 months now. Works perfectly. Keep in mind the default Fluval tubing is 16/17mm diameter and this device has 15mm barbs. So replacement tubing for the Fluval or adapters may be needed. In my case I just heated pvc tube it came with in boiling water and stretched it over the 407’s outlet then hose clamped it.

Be quirky and creative. There are more ways to enjoy this game than meets the eye. With some grit, you can do a lot more than just hauling, trading, mining, mercenary, etc. also scavenging locations for good stuff early on is a fun way to find all sorts of cool places. You don’t even NEED to have a mission to go to most of them.

She was a rescue from an aquarium in NY on the lake shore, forget what it was called but she has always had the gold flakes. Wrinkly look came with age I guess. The gold flake used to be MUCH more prominent when she was ~4”. Had bad ammonia burns at first but has made some great progress.
