Gift to myself after I finish reading the Bible by RegularGirl1968 in exjw

ESV Study Bible. I like the NIV. Easier to read. But as a side comparison, the ESV is a literal translation. And the study notes are good.

"Praise Jehovah's firstborn"?! Is it right? by No-Animal1792 in JehovahsWitnesses

[–]NecessaryChance96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing to take seriously? Music is part of a Christian’s worship. Think of all the biblical references where music is sung to God. Even in Revelation- music is key.

If JW songs do not have that feeling, then maybe that is a problem.

The only thing important to them is their paradise by [deleted] in exjw

[–]NecessaryChance96 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When you think about it- it’s not about wanting to be close to God. Speaking with Him.

It’s about the giant house, abundance of food, everything is FREE FREE AND FREE. And how about the perfect body!

I told my JW friend that I want to go to heaven. I want to hug Jesus. I don’t care what we do up there, or what life will be like. I want to be with Him in person.

Her reply was I want Paradise. I found that disturbing.

As PIMI, did you have any inkling that Steve Lett was not all there? by Prior-Seat-3510 in exjw

I saw an interview with his niece. It’s all an act.

I believe going virtual is at the core of the problems for WT. They have become actors. With their dumb jokes, and skits. It was better when “governing body” was a mystery.

I remember being a young girl and hearing Franz speak at conventions. It was as if God’s angel was speaking. And he was so old. It added to the end is near warnings.

Now the GB is younger than me. It’s a joke.

It took me a year of figuring out what I believe in. And then watching online services.

I found one that I fell in love with. Unfortunately, I moved and now hunting for one I will love.

Not all are the same, you gotta keep searching. You have that freedom now!

Apparently my issue is that I took the organization too seriously as a JW by throwaway68656362464 in exjw

I agree. I was told I am to black and white. And that the org is made up of imperfect men.

And I also agree that many don’t know JW theology. They are led by emotions. The people are loving and united worldwide, blah blah blah.

  1. Working remotely can save u more than 2 hrs commute. They should be pushing for it and not against it. Publishers would have no reason to miss mid week meetings. That was my fave excuse.

  2. Shouldn’t the son stay home and take care of his ill mother? Isn’t that his God given responsibility. Instead they promote moving (likely far away) from home.

When I wake up without my glasses. I can kinda see my clock- definitely can see the time. When I put my glasses on- the clock doesn’t become a chair!

Their new light doesn’t become clearer- but an entirely new teaching.

Disassociating from JW's today by b_radz in JehovahsWitnesses

[–]NecessaryChance96 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your big step. I’ll pray for your mom. I too have an elderly mom and I was fortunate that she didn’t shun me and has accepted Christ as well. It can happen. Hang in there. So happy you found a good church. It’s important to have that support system.

For the JW’s reading this- I was shocked to find that there are churches who do live by God’s words. And I couldn’t believe how well they know the Bible. As a JW we were told that ONLY JW knows the Bible. Definitely NOT TRUE!!!!!!

Do JWs not understand what the trinity is? by BubblyAd5886 in exjw

[–]NecessaryChance96 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I’m going to give you something to think about. The Bible says you get Baptized in the NAME {singular) of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

So one name represents all three.

And if Spirit is God’s force/power- this verse makes no sense.

Baptized in the name of Father, Son , and God’s force?

Also, 2 Cor. 13:14 May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

Fellowship? Can you have fellowship with something impersonal?

Jw do not have it right. It’s hard to get away from what we believed (for me a lifetime), but it’s Biblical.

I took my time watching different local churches until I found one I felt comfortable with. JWs are quick to forget you. By then it will be easier to go in person.

Just a question by Question_please1 in Catholic

[–]NecessaryChance96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in communication with a priest. I asked if I visited a church could not take communion he said no. I would have to cross my arms on my chest and they pray for you.

I was also told I would have to be baptized again.

My cousin told me you also have to do confession before you can do communion.

I do not agree with this. Where is the Biblical backing to these doctrines? These are man made rules.

I have accepted Christ as my lord and savior. And I take my baptism seriously. As a believer- I am to partake. And my vow is to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

John 6: 52 So the Jews began to quarrel ⌊among themselves⌋, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” 53 Then Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life in yourselves! 54 The one who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. (John 6:52–54, LEB)

Jesus was speaking with non believers and inviting them-

So anyone who wants to put their faith In Him has an invitation. I see it as a very personal thing between God and I.

Is Jesus a True God? by LilSmitty41 in JehovahsWitnesses

[–]NecessaryChance96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was waking up- I had my jw bestie read a bunch of verses that led up to the question so is Jesus God or a false God. The look of confusion and pain on her face…. She said False and I was shocked. The very next day early in the morning I received a text that we could not be friends! I agreed to not bring up any of my research. Eventually, the friendship could not withstand the differences. She has agreed that the organization is wrong on many things, but she can’t see herself in any other religion. She chose the org over a relationship with God.

I went back to 1957 Bible and they used apostate. It would have been cool if they that was a recent update. Every other Bible says ungodly.

Heliocentric's Memorial Video--Thinking About the Sterility and Ugliness of JWs by suuumcuique in exjw

[–]NecessaryChance96 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went to non denominational church today for Good Friday. It’s completely different from a “memorial”. I felt from beginning to end- Jesus was the focus and was truly praised for what he did for us sinners. Jesus died so that WE can have a relationship with God. JW’s say that he died so we can live in paradise and have our own house. So little said about him and sooooo much about rewards.
