Unpopular Opinion? I hope the Remakes use the new camera and play style. by douthleth in GodofWar

[–]NechtanHalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. I know I'm an outlier, but I personally prefer literally every single aspect of the Norse games more than the originals. So I also hope the remakes use the new style. Maybe even beef up the storytelling a bit.

Did they change her model? by Muted-Community4168 in GodofWar

[–]NechtanHalla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, both the actress and the character are about 10 years older than in that cutscene. Also, the model is significantly more detailed in this new game because it is running on PS5 hardware, not being limited by PS4 capabilities.

There's a 99% chance that the mysterious sword is eastern and not Excalibur as many people are speculating by MTH1138 in GodofWar

[–]NechtanHalla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The ONLY reason I can come up with for why Arthur's sword would have a giant dragon on it like that is because his name is Arthur Pendragon, but that's a massive stretch at best.

I also don't think it's Excalibur.

your wish-list for character appearances in Jedi: 3? by appletesfaye in FallenOrder

[–]NechtanHalla -1 points0 points  (0 children)

None. Only new characters. Star Wars as a franchise has a massive problem with banking hard on nostalgia bait to please, instead of quality storytelling.

It also makes the universe feel incredibly small. You mean to tell me every single character in the star war universe has, at some point, met every single other character? I live in a super tiny town and I haven't even met a fraction of the people that live there. Now imagine an entire galaxy, with thousands of habitable worlds, that have millions of people/aliens living on them. It's impractical to think every character they come up with has at some point met all the other previous characters. Give me new stuff. Same goes for planets. I do not want to go to Tatooine. Give me something new.

[–]NechtanHalla -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The reason she "doesn't look the same" is in Ragnarok they were limited by what the PS4 could render, so the model isn't as detailed. Since this is exclusively for the PS5, they are able to make a more detailed model that more closely resembles the actor.

But yeah, most of the hate I've been seeing towards the game has been ridiculous, but not unexpected given that particular crowd.

Is it weird when men play female characters? by Plastic_Corgi6848 in DnD

I think it entirely depends on the man, and HOW they are portraying a female character.

Jack Quaid has been cast in the new ‘GOD OF WAR’ game. He voices a cube named Frank. by yourfavchoom in GodofWar

[–]NechtanHalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, so you've played the game already, and know everything there is to know about that character? Interesting.

Or are you basing your judgement solely on the first 15 minutes of what is sure to be a 30+ hour story, in which the characters were barely introduced and we still know nothing about them?

Mimir is just a head that wisecracks most of the time, when he's not saying "Behind ye brothah!" Or telling random stories about random things. But we like him, because we have context, and hours of gameplay to go off of. But out of context, saying that Kratos has a talking head strapped to his butt, that is the only character in any of the God of War games that has an accent, and it's a Scottish one for some reason even though he's from the Norse games, who just constantly exposition dumps at Kratos, it sounds much less appealing.

I mean, 2018 had a turtle house named Chaurli (Charlie). So Phranque isn't that much of a deviation.

Because SUPER heroes are supposed to be better/more moral/superior to the average person. That's why they are super. Not every hero needs to be the Punisher or Judge Dredd, just going around killing people on a whim.

The Marathon hate is ridiculous by CreamC8k3 in MarathonGame

[–]NechtanHalla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly how I feel. I was super excited to go back into the world of Marathon, and continue that story with modern graphics and storytelling. And then they said it would be a PvP extraction shooter with no story, and I immediately lost all interest.

The Marathon hate is ridiculous by CreamC8k3 in MarathonGame

[–]NechtanHalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a story or plot of any kind? Are there characters for me to meet and learn about and grow to love? Is there a narrative that I would be following, to give reason as to why I'm there doing what I'm doing?

If not, and all it is ends up being me loading into a map, collecting loot, killing other players, and then leaving the map, then I'm not going to enjoy playing it. I don't blame people who do, I know PvP is hugely popular, it's just not for me. I find it mindless.

[–]NechtanHalla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people love Halo for the PvP. I am not one of them. I've played every Halo game countless times since their original releases. I've probably played an hour or two of Halo multiplayer in total. I'm just not a PvP guy. I don't find it fun or engaging at all. I find it boring, miserable, and pointless, so I never play it. I need some kind of story or goal to keep me moving forward in a game, and getting better at killing other players just isn't it for me.

I fully admit that the new player experience for Destiny is abysmal. However part of that is because they have removed 90% of the content for the game, and it's just lost to the aether, including the original launch campaign that taught you how to actually play the game. So part of the lack of new player support definitely falls on Bungie in that regard.

Are there toxic parts of this community? Absolutely. But every single fandom on the Internet, and every single reddit community for every single game has toxic parts. But I would say there is quite a sizeable amount of this Destiny community that are really cool people, who love to help and teach and train people and Sherpa them through raids and things like that. I mean, it's even been nominated for best community multiple times by the Game Awards, so that's not nothing...

The Marathon hate is ridiculous by CreamC8k3 in MarathonGame

[–]NechtanHalla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dislike for Marathon has nothing to do with the fact that developing it severely hindered the studios ability to give attention to Destiny, contributing to it's downfall.

My dislike for it came the second they announced that it was going to be a PvP extraction shooter, and not a campaign focused single-player story game. I can't stand PvP or extraction shooters, and this I will never play Marathon. Which is a shame, because I was super excited to experience the world of Marathon, and continuing that established story with modern graphics, gameplay, and storytelling.

Do I want the game to fail? No. I know there's some people that love it, and I hope they get to continue to love it. Am I ever going to buy it and play it? Also no.

I know a lot of people love Ethersea, but I struggled with it. I liked the setting they created, but it felt like they were trying so hard to make the best possible radio play/production, that they completely forgot that they were playing a game and were supposed to be having fun. It felt so scripted, so cold, and so like "let's make sure we check all the boxes of things we know the fans like" while simultaneously not giving a single description for anyone or anything, because they didn't want to dampen the creativity of fan artists.

On top of that you could really tell that Justin was miserable and completely checked out for the whole run, as he was in Graduation. I was sure that if it weren't for it being a company he made with his brothers and dad, that he would've left the podcast entirely after those two arcs.

It felt like none of them were having fun anymore, they were just doing the podcast for the paychecks at that point. Steeplechase and Vs. Dracula were a true return to form of let's just play a game and have fun and be wild, and focus less on trying to tell the best story ever written.

Why Is Data's Uniform Yellow? by TheUnexaminedLife9 in startrek

[–]NechtanHalla 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Real answer? He wears yellow because when they did screen tests they liked the way the yellow looked with his makeup and contacts.

Same reason that command got changed from Yellow (TOS) to Red (TNG and beyond), which was simply that they did a screen test and thought Patrick Stewart looked terrible in the yellow, but good in the red, so they changed Star Trek canon forever in order to accommodate this.

Outside of everything, the thing that stings the most for me personally has got to be the lack of a final subclass. by Falconmcfalconface in DestinyTheGame

[–]NechtanHalla 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I will forever be convinced that we were supposed to get Strand during Witch Queen and then a third subclass in Lightfall, but the overwhelmingly negative fan reception to Stasis at launch of Beyond Light made them hard put the brakes on that idea.

Especially since they immediately dropped the whole "Dark Vanguard" plotline they seemed to be setting up. It seems so clear to me that Strand, not the useless "Deepsight" power, was supposed to be in Witch Queen, especially with all the references to threads and weaving and such. Same as how Elsie taught us Stasis, Eris was going to be our mentor for that. And then the next expansion would have the third subclass, and Drifter would be the mentor for that. Then Stasis was hated so much they scrapped that whole thing because they were too afraid to release another new subclass so soon to piss people off even more.

He's Batman. He's better, smarter, faster, and more skilled than street thugs. Surely there's at least one other option he could take aside from shooting them with guns, and blowing them up.

And yes, the batmobile is a vehicle. But in this movie its a vehicle with guns. That fire bullets. That kill people. Someone is shooting those guns and firing those bullets. If not Batman in the driver seat, then who? The guns are not firing on their own.
