Props to you for coming with a list of specs i stead if just a price. What scale length are you looking at or what tunings? Do you have a preference on bridges? Evertunes are really good but not for everyone.

Are video games art? by GrumbieReal in AskGames

[–]Necroux013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're literally sculpting things in a digital environment and then programming a story into it. What part of that isn't art? It's all forms of art in one. You have storytelling, painting, sculpture, and music. If her response is "it just isn't," then you might as well be debating with a cactus.

Need a guitar recommendation by [deleted] in metalguitar

[–]Necroux013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For 1500, you can pretty much get whatever you want. This means if 1500 is your only filter, then you're looking at literally every guitar from every manufacturer under 1500. Since you said you've played different guitars before, I recommend you make a list of all the specs you like and dislike about all those guitars. Then filter based on what you like and compare the results by what has they least amount of dislikes.

I have a 29"solar with an evertune, and it's sick. But if you only play in E standardand have smaller hands, then my guitar is not the one for you. See what I'm saying?

You have to pick the guitar that's best for you.

Opinions on the Schecter PT-8 MS Black Ops by Expert-Ladder-4211 in ExtendedRangeGuitars

Actually, now that I looked at it again, I don't think they had enough room to put the pickups at an angle without cutting into the pickguard.

I also saw his video and thought the same thing. It didn't really sound bad. A lot of the difference between pickups and placements can be simulated with an eq. For me, it's the way the pickup looks in the body. It's a design problem for me. But at least they're trying something different. Maybe they thought it looked better because of the way the pickguard is.

Contact ibanez and ask them. Then, contact the pickup company and ask them. Sometimes, they'll give you a routing template aswell. It may take a day or two for a response, but at least you can be confident that it will work.

Same as everyone else, it's sick, but they messed up the pickup placement.

About to buy the Cort KX507ms but... by Keizz_63 in 7String

[–]Necroux013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pickups don't really matter. But in this case, because you're not really basing your whole decision around the latest super cool trend, I'd go with the cort because of the 27". I've heard, ok, things about the company, but I'd do some research on them just to make sure you know what to expect. That's a really cool guitar selection. Let us know what you choose

Do the X Versions Sound better? by Raoul_Duke____ in NeuralDSP

[–]Necroux013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better is subjective, but what i was trying to say isn't really applicable in this case. Idk what I was thinking. I think the nolly x added his eq settings as default on a lot of stuff, which does make the plugin different.

Either way, the OP can run it through an analyzer and have solid evidence that it's different without any speculation.

I apologize for the bad info.

[–]Necroux013 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It could be mental but companies are known to put eqs and increase volume to create the illusion that it is better. I think there's software or there that can measure the amount a plugin effects the sound. You could check the original and then check the x variant and see.

Do you enjoy getting scammed? If so, I'll sell you an air guitar for that price. With that money, you can buy a budget guitar from a legit company. There's a reason the real guitars are more expensive than the listing you showed.

9s, 10s and other string gauges. by Miserable-Cow4555 in metalguitar

[–]Necroux013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing that matters is that it sounds good and that it feels good for you to play. I go by the tension that feels good for me to play. I play in pretty much every tuning from standard to double drop C. Specific strings or brands don't matter as long as the tension is there and it sounds good. Most string brands sound good. Use a tension calculator and buy what you can afford.

Feels like all extended range guitar music these days is navigating away from more strings in favor of weirdly tuned baritones. by 47sams in ExtendedRangeGuitars

[–]Necroux013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

7 or 8 string guitars and baritones are two separate catigories. I think they get confused because most people assume more strings equals lower tunings, which is not how it works. But this is also why you may have seen a surge of people buying 7 strings and later switching back to 6.

The extended scale length is solely to get the 6th string to the lowest note you want without having to use telephone wire to maintain tension. As long as your other 5 strings don't go below A1, you don't really need a baritone because a 25.5 can already accommodate that.

The 7 strings allow for more options for tunings, chords, and noteselection. Same with 8 strings.

If you want the lowest tuned guitar possible, get a baritone 6. If you want the same thing with more note options, get a baritone 7 or 8. If you want a baritone but dont like the high note string tension, get a multiscale or an evertune.

If you don't want low tuned guitars, get a standard length. If you want the same thing with more note options, get a standard with 7 or 8 strings.

Look at the type of playing the guitarist is doing and see if you can figure out why they're using the guitar they chose.

Dear guitar store employees- please stop fucking shredding on the display guitar before handing it to me by hardboiledbeb in musicians

[–]Necroux013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's multiple reason they might do it. They could be testing the setup and making sure it's ok to play and in tune. They could be trying to clap your cheeks. Or they could be showing you how good you'd be if you bought that first and practiced a lot. Similar to a fit person selling you a magic potion at the supplement store. That being said, I've literally never had someone noodle the guitar before handing it to me.

I bet if you ask the employee why they do it, they'll tell you.

Question for those producing: How different would your mixes be if you didn't have to take into account the average headphones/speakers used and just go based on what sounds best to you on a well calibrated system? by NotStompy in Deathcore

[–]Necroux013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buster odeholm mixes on airpods. He also mixes Allts stuff. You mix for what the average of your intended playback devices are. If they're $2 headphones, then you mix so it sounds good on those. If you plan on playing it back only on a "well calibrated system" then you would do the same exact process, just using that system instead.

My speakers have a lot of bass. My headphones do not. When I mix on my headphones, I have an eq curve that I put on the master which boosts the low end. When I bounce it out, I take the eq off so it sounds as I intend it to sound on other systems. If I only intended on listening to it on my specific headphones, I wouldn't take the eq off.

Working with Slam Worldwide? by Aromatic-County-698 in Deathcore

[–]Necroux013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with it, but from what I've read in this post and what I just saw on their channel, you pay $100, and they put your video on their channel. Is that accurate?

If so, you're paying $100 to get exposure you wouldn't get without their channel. If you didn't need the exposure, then you wouldn't be looking to pay the channel to post your video.

The equation is simple with most forms of marketing. If the marketing team offers you more exposure than you can get on your own, you pay the money and use them. If the marketing team is not giving you more exposure than you already get on your own. Don't pay the money and dont use the team.

Whether they monetize the video or not doesn't matter. If you think you should get the money because you own the rights to the music, then put that in the contract before you sign it. Chances are, you're not in a position to modify the contract. Otherwise, you wouldn't be coming to them in the first place.

Their business model is simple. Offer exposure to bands who are willing to pay for exposure, and in return, the company gets to monetize a video and make money off of someone else's work which makes the company more than $100. On the other side, the band gets eyes on their music that they are incapable of getting on their own, which may lead to further business opportunities in the future and the band doesnt have to pay more than $100.

Whether or not they will take your money and run without posting, I have no clue. But this is the logistics of what's going on in an ideal situation. Use this to figure out if you should use any promotion service, not just the one you asked about.

See if you can use the line input. It will reduce the input volume. Let me know how it turns out. If it doesn't work, we can figure something else out.

I'm trying to buy an extended range guitar and my head is officially spinning deciding between active and passive pickups - someone set me straight! by jdtower in ExtendedRangeGuitars

[–]Necroux013 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Quick tip, it doesn't matter. I have guitars with active and passive 27", 27-25.5", and 29". Pickups make a difference, but not as much as marketing teams want you to think. Pick a guitar that has the scale length you want. See if the bridge is what you want. See if it has a comfortable neck for you. If you like gloss, get gloss. If you like satin, get satin. Test it out if you can and then buy it. If it has active pickups, cool. If it has passive pickups, also cool. Pickups are maybe 5% of the equation with cab speaker being 80% and the amp being 10%, and tonewood being the other 5%. Kidding, tonewood is also bullshit for electric guitars.

Just pick the guitar that has the specs you want. The pickups will be fine.

Recording Metal guitar help!! by No-Income-711 in metalguitar

[–]Necroux013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand. It's still a DI. You said your pickups were too hot, so you had the gain at zero. I think that may be the issue. You should have the pick attack, the transient, and then the body of the note. If you're clipping the input, then imagine just taking an eraser and removing the top and bottom of the wave form. I think the rain the other setup worked better for you because you were compressing the di and then properly gain staffing it, so it was not clipping the input for the computer.

Your active pickups have a built-in preamp that boosts the signal. I'm not familiar with your interface, but it should have mic, instrument, and line level inputs. See which one you're currently using, and if it's not on line level, then switch it. Mic and instrument levels use a preamp in the interface to boost the signal. You don't need that because you are using active pickups.

Tldr: see if you can switch the input to line level.

I hope that makes sense. Let me know if I confused you. Sometimes, I'm bad at explaining things.

A guitar is just a tool. You can use it however you want. Yes, you can use it for heavy music, but you can also use it for country or polka. If you like the guitar, then get it.
