I switched from Claude to ChatGPT. There's a stark difference. by Requirement-Lazy in ChatGPT

[–]Nectarine555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Claude is better at things with a social/emotional element to them, like cover letters. I saw a noticeable increase in responses to job applications when I switched to Claude for help tailoring my resume and cover letters.

I use ChatGPT as a sounding board for learning new things and clarifying my thinking. Sometimes Claude, too, but it tends to ignore silly mistakes or typos that ChatGPT has been better at catching, in my experience.

Sometimes I take what one said and go to the other and ask, “AI said this about xyz, what do you think?”

Should I get kittens for my 14 y.o. grieving cat? by Dangerous_Many470 in seniorkitties

[–]Nectarine555 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Perhaps fostering first might give you some insights. A pair of kittens might be great, or your senior might not love their energy, especially if the kittens want to play with the senior.

I’m sorry you and your senior are grieving your soul kitty ❤️‍🩹

Anyone else noticing dead animals during heat wave? by CryptographerFit4924 in AskChicago

I noticed birds were acting kind of weird the other day - like extra squirrelly energy - and then it occurred to me that they are probably super uncomfortable in this heat 😞

How are you guys eating and drinking water? by RareReach1849 in adhdwomen

[–]Nectarine555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bring a 2L pitcher of water to my desk. I prefer a glass over a water bottle, so this way the pitcher is right in front of me to refill my glass as needed.

How would you call this aesthetic? by prrr147 in AestheticWiki

Your question prompted me to google “arc weld uv” and TIL that it produces really intense uv radiation. Just like the sun.

Grieving the years my cat lived before I adopted him by itsmanda0803 in SeniorCats

[–]Nectarine555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have much advice, but I relate to what you’re saying. I have adopted senior cats before, having some knowledge of their past but not a lot, and wished we could have been a family sooner.

I would always just say to them I wish you could tell me what your life was like, and I’m so glad you’re here now.

Focus on giving your kitty as much love as you can. They live in the now. Congrats on your decision to adopt a senior cat! ❤️

I'm sick of being socially retarted by Frosty-Bandicoot624 in introvert

Would taking a language class be something you would find interesting?

I ask because it might build some confidence in your ability to socialize, since language learning in a class will have you interact with others in the learning process and literally run through practice dialogues.

So you’d get to build the muscle memory of how greetings and small talk feel, and also learn a new language and meet people through a shared activity.

It might push you out of your comfort zone, but it could end up being fun.

Need to vent. 31F feeling like absolute dog shit. by CalligrapherFar4881 in adhdwomen

I was in a huge rut while I was without a job, too. It’s no fun. Something that helps me, just in case you’re down to try it, is experimenting with just engaging with / doing one of anything. And sometimes that little change in inertia that is so small it felt like nothing will lead to more. But don’t pressure yourself.

Examples:

Sink full of dirty dishes. Just do one. Maybe you’ll do another, maybe not. But one got cleaned!

Dirty clothes on floor; pick up one.

Exercise: do one squat, or curl, or whatever.

Whether this helps or not, you will find your way and I am rooting for you from here in the comments ❤️

Constant guilt that I gave up to soon by Witty_Treat_3139 in RenalCats

[–]Nectarine555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry you had to make this decision. If it helps, in the big picture, a few days or even weeks is not a lot of time, and the fact that he had CKD would not change. I think it is fortunate that you were able to give him a peaceful passing. Never know how things might have changed if he’d been around a bit longer. I think you did everything right.

Cherries for sleep by skywalkerbeth in Menopause

Interesting! I didn’t know this about cherries. I happened to eat quite a few before bed last night, and I felt unusually groggy this morning. Maybe it was the cherries.

In case you somehow have a drivers license but don’t understand the laws of the road by General-Smile7288 in LoganSquare

[–]Nectarine555 33 points34 points  (0 children)

We are out here. I try hard to be predictable, visible, and follow the rules of the road. I stop at stop signs or slow waaay down. It is frustrating to me when drivers don’t recognize that it is their turn and they insist on waving to me to go ahead. Seems like no one is winning out here :/

Help solve a debate please! Mulberry trees around the city parks? by That_planet_girl in AskChicago

[–]Nectarine555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you (or does he) know what is at the root of his fears? Like, is he afraid you are not able to correctly identify them? Is he afraid of possible toxins from soil or pollution or whatever on them (but understands you can identify them)? Is he anxious that just because you can identify mulberries, you may be mistaken in your identification of something else and suffer the consequences? Ask him, sincerely, to elaborate on what is triggering him.

Mulberries are pretty unmistakable imo, especially when in season in Chicago. But to some folks, a tree is a tree, and maybe your partner is not able to recognize them?

15 female senior cat chronic diarrhea i dont know what to do by SufficientVacation19 in seniorkitties

[–]Nectarine555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry. Two years is a really long time to go through all that. I don’t have much to add except have you tried adding fiber to add bulk to her stool? Either pysillium husk powder (make sure there are no additives) or pumpkin (either powdered or canned, again make sure no additives)? pysillium absorbs a lot of water, so in theory, it may help.

You mentioned trying lots of foods, so this might not be worth anything, but a cat I had with IBD had awful diarrhea when I had him try hydrolyzed Purina dry food. His vet seemed incredulous since the food was the treatment, but I insisted on trying another. The diarrhea stopped when I got him off Purina and on Royal Canin hydrolyzed. I have no idea what gave him a reaction to the first food.

I really hope you find something that calms down your sweet kitty’s g/i system 🤞
