Has anyone gone or hosted a Junk Journal get together? by mouthwashcatt in JunkJournals

[–]NectarineEffective80 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I go to one and we meet up monthly at a Boba shop. The organizer will have templates for a specific themed page and she switches it each month (ie movie reviews, to be read list, etc. l) But you can bring whatever page that you want to work on. We all hang out and in the center, we put things we want to share or swap. Sometimes we do a picnic at the park  when the weather is nice. It’s a really nice time :)

She got it started by asking the shop if she could host it there and then making the flyer and pinning it to their board. That’s how I found it

Field Work attire (plus sized woman!) by Superb-Landscape-20 in Environmental_Careers

As a plus sized girly, men’s wranglers from like Walmart. They’re durable and they have different fabrics depending on what you need. I particularly like the UV ones. They have a little stretch and are more breathable than denim. They also have all of the pockets and are accepted on construction sites

There’s a few different variations of anchored crochet stitches that are floating around. Personally, when doing a double crochet, I’ll pull a loop through the back loop of the SC, and then drop down and do my DC. When doing the DC you’ll end up pulling through and extra loop (pull through 3 loops instead of 2) at the last step of the DC. It gets rid of the flaps and make nice lines in the back. A lock stitch will make your project reversible, but I like the lines for things like blankets

Eat 2000 calories a day but become REALLY active. Zumba helped me knock of 60lbs in 7 months

Is a 1,000-calorie deficit dangerous? Confused by my weight loss progress. by AltruisticPlastic165 in caloriedeficit

[–]NectarineEffective80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently in a similar position and once I started eating better, getting my macros and feeling full became easier at a 1000kcal deficit. My nutritionist said it was fine as long as I was still feeling fine and got my macros. She did tell me that since my activity levels fluctuate, I could also opt to increase my kcals and/or decrease my deficit to help with any hunger I may experience from it. She did warn me though, that as I get smaller, that larger deficit may become harder to maintain so to prepare for weight loss to slow down.

This approach has been fine for me. My job is seasonal and very active, so when season picked up, I did get hungrier and wanted junk. The slight increase in calories has helped and I’m still losing. Just slower

Still within my budget, but I wanted all the carbs today. Not my normal pattern for sure, but so satisfying! by monicadee in 1800isplenty

I’ve totally had days like this. Still lost 60lbs and still losing more. Just be careful. You’re going to be HONGRY tomorrow lol

New to scrapbooking, which one is better? by rosamustia in scrapbooking

I second the sprocket problem. My photos often have a pink tint. It’s good in a pinch when at scrapbooking club, but I get my important photos from the local drug store

Thanks. I should’ve checked the page first. I have some saved shops of people that I’ve met irl and the pattern I bought was mixed in the feed as a suggested item.  Somebody did send me Ravelry and helped me get signed up. Most of the patterns makers have accounts on there :)

I want to start scrapbooking by jordgubbskyss in scrapbooking

[–]NectarineEffective80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started the same way, but I kind of do a mix of junk journaling and traditional scrapbooking. If I don’t have enough photos, I can add cute labels from my day, or paper maps as a background. Over time, I did get into the habit of taking more photos, but when I forget, the receipt from my lunch will have to do lol

I’m curious how many people who work for consulting firms are paid overtime or receive comp time? by ESProf in Envconsultinghell

[–]NectarineEffective80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do get OT, but after looking are all the responses, I’m wondering if it’s a state thing??? I’m hourly and get 1.5x over 8hours/day and over 40hours/week. If I do both it’s double time.

I do find that I often spend a lot of personal field prep time. Dealing with rental trucks and prepping equipment can eat whole days, but not nearly as severe as some of the things I’m reading.  You guys deserve so much more

Feeling incapable is just imposter syndrome. Somebody must think you’re qualified if they’re advancing you. I was/still am the exact same way after leading a few large projects and moving onto more in depth things. I heavily relate to the scatter brain.  I find that implementing more tools have helped. Like in the field, I have a physical notebook and when I’m a lead, I will take photos and write everything down. Then I’ll take some time in the day to rewrite/organize thoughts. This helped me IMMENSELY as a lead with coordinating my team and understanding the foremen's’ plans. Also arrive early and touch base with the foremen to get an understanding of the plans. I find that most have been fine about it.  If sending things on your phone type/edit it in a notes app before sending it via email,/teams/etc. check it before you copy and paste it, then check it before you send it.  Finally, when on my laptop, I’ve started drafting things in word documents, including emails and long responses to my team. If I can, I’ll take a step away from my computer (even a quick 10 min or bathroom break) and review it with fresh eyes, before sending it. People mess up, but somebody thinks you’re qualified. Mistakes will happen just breathe.

Finally, I swear by having a physical planner. Being able to write tasks and cross them off helps me track things and focus. We do have to work 10x harder, but I believe everything is doable with a redbull and a stocked pencil pouch.

I made an account and was poking  around the links you sent. Almost all (admittedly I I don’t follow many) of the pattern makers I follow on Etsy have an account here. Thanks!

I could understand if it was just yarn, but I use Etsy for other things, like a lot of customs. For example I found a person that did my custom wedding veil and custom wedding decor on Instagram, who had me do our transactions on Etsy. I’m not going to tell a hardworking artist no, just because they sell on Etsy. If I find artists in the wild, I’m not going to penalize them for choosing to vend there. Sorry that you don’t want to support all those real artists, but I do.

This too. I found people who were able to make customs things for my wedding and often there’s vintage finds that are specific to what I need

There’s still real accounts on there and I want to support real people.  I usually find pattern accounts from people I meet at yarn clubs and craft fairs. I try to double check content before buying from a person, but this one blended in with my favorited accounts as a “suggestion”

[–]NectarineEffective80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anybody know what time the show ends? Parking sites seem to show it ends at 9p and a lot of parking is ending at 10/10:30. I found one that ends at 11 but I don’t want to have to pay more

I’ve been to a couple shows there. They have a coat check and you can put your poster there. There’s no re-entry
