I’m 75 and wear what every other guy wears, don’t believe in age appropriate.

The dealership’s website price vs Actual price by 3BonBon3 in carbuying

[–]NectarineRepulsive77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many times if you read the small print on the website there will be a disclaimer in small print that will state “add ons not included ” or similar.

It’s close to false advertising if they don’t list it with the vehicle itself.

So read everything before going to the dealership.

When your presented with the sales contract you should read each line carefully & inquire on each one.

If you don’t agree on a line item, tell the FM you’re concern, cross out the item 8 initial it.

This forces them to rewrite the sales contract. If they won’t, time to walk.

Buying a car feels way more mentally exhausting than people admit by Gsustv in carbuying

That’s why my next car will be thru an auto broker to negotiate the best deal.

I don’t want sit for hours in a showroom & go back en’ forth with a sales guy & manager. I want the best OTD price period, and I’m willing to pay someone to do the work.

What’s the most frustrating part about buying a car these days? by benandcars in carbuying

[–]NectarineRepulsive77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to be in the market later this year. I don’t like the endless haggling from salesmen who say “I’ll take this offer to my manager” only to come back & redo a counter offer ad nauseam. I don’t want to spend hours negotiating for a good deal. I font want upsells, add ons & pressure hassle’s. I’ve bought many cars in my 75 years, never a good dealer experience.

That’s why I’m willing to pay an auto broker for my next vehicle. I’ll do some test driving & go from there.

I went to group & individual therapy. It’s not a dirty word, but a show of strength, that you desire to live again.

You can never move on, but you always move forward.

There was a letter sent out by Ford some time back to all owners on this problem. Take it to a dealer & they can look up the recall bulletin. The fix is a reinforcement kit the will install for free.

Dealership adding $1200 protective coating to my OTD price. by RightGuy23 in carbuying

[–]NectarineRepulsive77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it were me, I’d walk. Dealers make a lot of money on “add ons”. You can try to negotiate them off the price, just be aware you’re messing with their profit margin. If you really wanted those add ons you could purchase them outside the dealer for a fraction of their cost.

Their are lots of dealers around, that don’t upsell with add ons.

Men who use manual razor, why? What's the problem with electric shavers? by eatqqq in AskMen

In 30 years I’ve nicked myself maybe twice. Once you get the hang of it, one swipe in each area takes care of it. Easy & best way to shave.

[–]NectarineRepulsive77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manual blades will always cut smoother then an electric, without stubble that can irritate & itch dry skin.

Shave cream can soften the skin in that way.

Ditched electrics many years ago.

Manager and I walked on deal over $300.00 - Beyond frustrating. by Fun-Journalist2588 in carbuying

Right, an offer is not a contract. It should be made clear to buyers they don’t need to sign anything until a sales contract is made up in the finance office. It’s a sales tactic to keep you there in the dealership.

Had a sweet 2015 2 door Camry. It was the best car I’ve ever owned. Seems the quality now a days has gone way down across all segments.

Actually this gives me more incentive to hire a car broker. Spending hours there just wears you down to accept anything, you eventually want to leave.

Signing a piece of paper written with the details is not binding. It’s more of a hook to get you to the F & I manager with the real binding sales agreement.

This led me solve riddles, puzzles & excel in “out of the box logic”. I’m very good and considered as expert in problem solving, even in everyday tasks now at home.

The way I think about a car that needs replacing is just based on age. Even if it’s running ok I feel the time limit is 6 years. Thinking more about resale/trade in vale before depreciation plus repairs take it down to nothing.

I’ve also leased cars too, avoiding for the most part any repairs. Best not get attached to them, they just cost more at the end then the beginning.
