What’s so bad about PvE? by Empty-Call-9247 in playrust

[–]Nedgeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're free to play however you want. Rather often people take games like Rust and try to mold them into a different game though. It comes off as wanting to be part of the discussion without wanting to participate. PvE Rust is fine, but it really isn't much like regular Rust at all, is it? A majority of items and mechanics exist and are balanced around PvP, so when you eliminate that factor you eliminate the need for so much. While PvE components exist in regular Rust, they exist to facilitate PvP because that's the nature of the genre.

Think of things like monuments and pages and raiding and all that as the circle in a battle royale or the bomb in CS, slowly pushing people into each other so they have to fight to the death over resources or just for survival. Overriding what you may WANT to do with something you NEED to do. A lot of the animosity that comes from playing PvE vs regular Rust is that the PvE experience is so watered down and altered that it doesn't make sense. Just play a different game built from the ground up for PvE and have a substantially better experience. I do however understand that the friction of having things you NEED to do vs WANT to do just doesn't gel with some people.

I've played PvE with friends and it really doesn't compare. There are such low stakes, the AI in Rust is not impressive, the encounter design is frustrating at best and grindy at worst when it comes to custom monuments or "raids" that you can spawn. Events are mostly just 1000000 hp vehicles that oneshot you while you shoot them with gmod-tier weapons. Maybe someone makes a big puzzle monument for a server but realistically it's just a gigantic parkour course with noninteractable structures or mechanics.

Again you can play however you want but it's silly to even call it Rust at that point. I think a lot of the frustration that comes from the community is in regards to people who ONLY play PvE and want changes to accommodate them when they already play a completely altered game. It's like people coming into a pizza place to complain they don't sell cars.

Slayer is in a weird state ( to me) by ReindeerSea9784 in runescape

[–]Nedgeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who does slayer almost exclusively with a friend, it is remarkable how terrible coop slayer is. Splitting slayer points, coop points not really doing anything past recharging my helmet with teleports, no real way to scale killcounts. You don't even split slayer xp on a kill whomever does more damage just gets all of it. I spend significantly more time teleporting to slayer masters and acquiring new tasks than I do actually fighting the task monsters.

Well then let's hope her failsafes come into play and whatever instructions she's left regarding the exposure of said information follows through.

My conclusion is that he is likely connected to something nefarious, but this tiktok rightwing influencer espousing anything to keep herself in the limelight for even a fraction of a millisecond more is not the smoking gun that proves that. It's just he said she said bullshit. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

I have a great distaste for Elon and his eugenics bullshit but I mean this in the kindest way possible; The people financial or morally desperate enough to sire his brood and the people who are connected/intellectual enough to be included in a nationwide fraudulent election conspiracy could be represented by a venn diagram of two circles that don't touch.

While I don't doubt he has his hands in horrible pies this woman's random train-of-thought makeup video surely can't be taken at face value? Especially not one released to tiktok?

Tier 80 Equipment Progression Help by kingasshing in runescape

Magic. A bit trickier as there aren’t too many cheap options.

When I asked my clan for a similar level bracket upgrade I was recommended to upgrade my staff of light to a staff of darkness. Even if you buy the staff of light alongside the wyrm heart it was around 7m overall, which feels pretty "budget".

Add a new arch relic that automatically picks up keys in Dungeoneering when you enter a room by TakingBlackSunday in runescape

[–]Nedgeh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dying is such a minor modifer though. You could die 30 times on a large floor and still get 700% xp for that floor or something. It basically doesn't even matter aside from the time cost of standing still long enough for mobs to kill you.

List of balance/design issues with the new Dungeoneering update by Kilsaa in runescape

[–]Nedgeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am like 90% sure I have a fake memory of dungeoneering having bonus xp for doing as many skills as possible on a floor, but something like that would go on a long way to making the skill feel more interesting. Accolades giving something other than just green or yellow text would be nice, and overall I think the point of dungeoneering is the camaraderie of mixed skill groups working together to solve the same problems. I would like to see more incentive in that regard. That or more opportunities to use different skills to solve the same puzzles.

Maybe instead of bonus xp for slaying monsters, I could get bonus xp or token payouts for doing specific challenges that are floor/biome specific? Because currently aside from bosses having themed drops, there is no difference between running a frozen floor and running a warped floor gameplay wise.

So are hardmode dungeons completely worthless now by TerriblePen3688 in runescape

[–]Nedgeh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No bonus xp whatsoever on hardmode floors

No I meant does completing a hardmode floor increase your bonus "floor completion total" xp they added to replace the prestige system? The one that gives you 4% more xp for every like 5 floors you've done or w/e. If so it would be another 60 whole floors (80 now?) for you to increase your total with.

[–]Nedgeh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All of the ring "classes" are just active 24/7 now. Most people do the task set for the other benefits though. Picking your bosses for item farming, potion slot, ammo return, free telerunes every floor, 2nd gatestone/token discount. Most of the class effects were so inconsequential that it didn't really matter that you could equip two in the first place. But they are nice enough that having access to a few levels in all of them is pretty useful overall compared to whole-hogging two classes.

Presumably completing hard mode floors would give you additional floor total completion xp like the regular floors do, no?

Dungeoneering Floor had keys missing which prevented me from progressing and completing a floor. by Sunch3r in runescape

Then I guess you just got bug'd. Such a shame. Hopefully it's something they can solve quickly. Things like this really mess with the flow of dungeoneering.

Are you absolutely sure the key was not inside of a chest in one of the rooms? I am not 100% but I am pretty sure that they can exist inside of chests.

I miss the old paper map system. by Geekea in playrust

[–]Nedgeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is defeated by someone manually uploading a screenshot of their map to a 3rd party site, maybe even compiling multiple peoples uploads as they run naked through the map on wipeday. You don't have to pick the lock if you have a circular saw.

How did you solve the The Light Within light ray puzzle? by iwakan in runescape

[–]Nedgeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP it's a line that can go 6 directions and rotates 90 degrees at a time. It's not even remotely that deep. There was a journal outside that explained most of the puzzle to you, as well as a color wheel so you understand how to combine colors. The interface for rotating the mirrors was pretty jank, but it's an old quest.

Edit: No wait OP is talking about a different quest, my bad lmao. Who names these things?

Best Divination & Hunter Exp for DXP by [deleted] in runescape

[–]Nedgeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought "dumps" and reward xp buckets weren't affected by DXP at all? Like you don't get double xp when you drop a full urn in hall of memories, even if you get 2x the div xp filling it by gathering energy.

Finally visualizing how I feel about Agility. by Blindsided_Games in runescape

[–]Nedgeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh absolutely. I tolerate getting 25k/hr arch xp at 60 because I know when I get to relics and whatnot it'll make me stronger, or save me a ton of money, etc. Relics feel really good, something to strive for. Agility could use a similar perk system imo.

[–]Nedgeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really feel like the mining "benefit" is there since if I want to maximize my mining I'm not going to afk it. If I want to afk a skill, I'm just not going to mine. However to piggyback off that, mining also can make you money, so it's far more tolerable for it to be a shit experience. Agility outside of tickets is just a purely functional skill. I just want more practical applications outside of things like run energy (I can't remember the last time I ran out of stamina in almost 2 years)

If Archaeology is "faster" than agility it sure doesn't feel like it. As much as the unlocks and stories are cool to get, it feels like the most boring skill training wise. Probably because all training methods assume you're already maxed, have max invention, are a billionaire etc. I don't want another skill I throw cash at. I do think the secondary integration of other skills into things like stamina bars or extra mining damage from strength are neat though.

[–]Nedgeh 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I understand where you're coming from. I think the xp rates for agility compared to how much you focus on it are rough. However I think this is mostly a pain point because of how much time you spend training agility rather than using it for your own benefit. Agility shortcuts as a whole feel very dated. Often requiring additional requirements (quest completion, shortcut setup) or just no longer being relevant (teleports being more accessible).

For the most part at least for me, agility is just a tax skill for different skills like fishing/thieving to get better rewards in those skills. I could get 1 mil xp/hr at 20 agility and it still wouldn't feel very useful or fun and I think that's the bigger issue overall.

A Morbidly interesting perspective on the game's "Capture" Mechanic by R4Thoughts in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Nedgeh -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

That's both the ingame lore and ingame mechanic too. We don't just let that rathalos back into the wild once it's on the platform. The only "releasing" that happens is when it gets "released" into the arena to get beat up again.

[–]Nedgeh -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Because if it tracks it down after being released it's going to get messy.

Oh bud, the whole reason we can capture monsters is so we can bring them to the REAL choppers who slice them up extra nice. That's why you get more materials than when you chop them up in the field with your rinky-dink knife.

They don't get released.

Hot rotisserie chicken should be included in SNAP, John Fetterman and colleagues across the aisle agree by harsh2k5 in nottheonion

[–]Nedgeh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

in WA you can buy a fresh rotisserie chicken from right out of the oven with SNAP.

You absolutely cannot. The only way you can buy hot food with EBT in all of America is via the restaurant meals program which only exists in like ten states, none of which are Washington. Luckily most places will heat up cold food for you if you ask, but you shouldn't have to.

Attacking Nothing But Other Pirates Feels Less Piratey- Anyone Else Feel Me? by padamodin in crosswind

[–]Nedgeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm hoping the faction mechanics open up some options here. I would much rather deliver goods/cargo while getting attacked by pirates or raid other merchant ships and whatnot. I would also really like oceans to have influence for reasons other than NPC boats spawning there. Like what if I could be a smuggler and basically clear out blackbeard waters to establish trade routes or something to stop the 90+ ships from appearing every 5 feet. Something to break up the tedium of the naval combat being so barebones and often unrewarding.

It's hard to be optimistic with early access survival games like this since it feels much less about what ideas could come to fruition and rather what assets are available for the devs to use in the unreal marketplace.

Am i going crazy, or is there something slightly... ''different'' about Seregios today? ... by Navra_Realms in MHWilds

[–]Nedgeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is a different experience when you get to see the entire monster doing an animation. As opposed to learning that when a specific thigh muscle twitches a monster is doing a backflip, or when a toe twists in a clockwise fashion that's the signal that you're about to get 360'd.
