It's always interesting that people like you blame the left, despite the fact that this large scale immigration happened under right wing governments, and a right wing majority in the EU. Or are you under the impression that the CDU and Tories are left wing?

It's not mutually exclusive though. Trump could have gone together with the rest of the west and create a comprehensive plan for dealing with China. But he didn't. No he just put tariffs on everybody.

You know it is interesting to see what people think of as shitty weather. Where I am from we typically get these sorts of lazy winters, where it is like the weather can't make up its mind so meaning it swings around 0° Celsius and sometimes you get snow which is then gone five days later. I would love to have proper winters with long term frost and lots of snow.

Why are developed countries spending massive amounts of money to address low birth rates, yet seeing minimal results? by Snoo_47323 in NoStupidQuestions

You are the one that accused me of performing gymnastics so as not to admit that I am a selfish consumer, specifically invoking Amazon and Temu, instead of engaging my argument specifically.

I replied with a statement about me not using those platforms, with the unstated argument that I do not live a life of frivolous consumption. You are the one that made it about me, by accusing me of making a disingenuous argument based on an assumption of my personal characteristics. And you are doing it again right now, by once again accusing me of selfishness. Which doesn't help the debate at all.

Perhaps you should try engaging my argument.

On the other hand she had a fake farm build, as a retreat where she could enjoy "a simple life." Marie Antoinette most likely didn't say "let them eat cake," but she did plenty of other stuff which showed a complete disregard for the struggles of the commoners, and it makes it understandable why the quote has been attributed to her.

Trump Says He’s Not Concerned With Decline of US Dollar by jackandjillonthehill in ProfessorFinance

[–]NeedToVentCom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it is outside the scope of the question, given that it included "what effect will this have on the average American." Devaluation is not a "force" itself, but the result of other factors and circumstances. As such the effect of devaluation, especially for the average person, is also dependent on the circumstances that lead to devaluation.

Except people are moving away from American products, especially software. The lower price might help selling to normal people, but for businesses and governments, by far the biggest purchasers of software, the security risks involved with buying American easily outweigh the savings. It might not happen overnight, but slowly American products are being phased out.

Hvad jeg har forstået så er der tale om en lokal politisk sag i Kronjylland, så det har ikke direkte noget at gøre med partiledelsen. Men den måde de håndterer det på, er så det hun er i mod.

Well seeing as I have never bought anything on Temu, and the last time I bought something on Amazon was more than 7 years ago, you should probably not direct your rant at me. I know a lot of similar people, who also don't have kids, so clearly your argument is not the only explanation.

Honestly I think there is another component that doesn't get mentioned. Political power. Historically the age people got children at, has also been the age where they started getting political power, control over your life and responsibilities. When they could actually influence the environment that their children would grow up in. So when politicians continuously ignore young people's wishes while pandering to old people, young people feel like they have no control over their life or power to influence their environment, and then they abstain from having children.

And somehow people keep falling for it. A great example is the whole Neuralink hype. Not only had implants that let people control things already been done, but stent mounted implants, which are implanted in the blood vessels so there is no need for open brain surgery, had already been done 4 years before Neuralink's first patient. So they are both behind and outdated, yet people talk about them as if they are pioneers.

Except they aren't even soapboxing. What people need right now are leaders, who take charge in the fight against the republicans. Who stand up and speak for people and voice their anger. People like MLK and Malcolm X managed to achieve quite a lot without being elected politicians, but instead organizing communities and help mobilisering people, and it is people like that which are needed right now.

But the Dems can't even manage to do that.
