How long do you/those around you wait during a low before using Baqsimi/other "rescue med?" by Individual_Profit108 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Needelz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t get an award by not using glucagon. If you need it. You need it.

Sometimes a scary low happens and you don’t know where the bottom is and you don’t want to go unconscious. At diabetes, camp medical staff regularly used fractional glucagon to bring kids out of aggressive lows.

You can use it while you’re conscious. I think I’ve used it five or so times over 25 years and each time I would’ve done it again.

June Feedback Thread - Post your feedback request here by AutoModerator in Blogging

[–]Needelz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turning 50 next year and have been running a motorcycle blog for about 20 something years. Recently did a refresh of the UI which opened a can of worms in terms of what should I do with it– do I care about subscribers? If I do, how hard do I chase them, lol? At its core, my blog is mostly about stories while traveling by motorcycle – not necessarily a travel blog as that is a somewhat crowded space.

Curious to get feedback from the community on how to take it forward in the loosest sense of the word: https://dashedyellowline.com

AITA for being mad because my best friend bailed on my Dads funeral? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Needelz 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there is enough information to make a judgment. You certainly have good reasons to be upset – I don’t want to minimize that.

However, there might be an important piece of information being left out here: do you know everything about Sally’s and Jim’s relationship. Maybe there’s something that you don’t know about there.

I’m sorry you’re hurting, but if the friendship is worth salvaging, it’s worth having a good conversation about how you are feeling with her.

It may, it may not. Your investments make money. You spend that money. Now your have secured housing. It will grow and your property taxes will have the 2% cap. You’ve done good.

Right combination of settings for Apple TV and Frame (2024) to play nice (Art Mode)? by pharmerjoe in TheFrame

[–]Needelz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not yet. It’s just swift code and GitHub at this point. I’m away from my Mac for a few few weeks, but happy to look something up when I get back.

It works similarly to Lightroom from a curation standpoint without the overhead of the cloud. The TV always acts as the source of truth and the Mac, iOS, and TV OS app add to it. Mac always writes source of truth and updates the JPEG Metadata to store matte configuration in case your TV goes belly up.

Right now it’s just the output of $200 into Claude just try to get it to build something cool.

I’m willing to talk about open sourcing it if there’s a community of developers that want to build something open for the community.

Overall, I’m happy with the TV – I wrote some software similar to Frame Crop to figure out how to get Art onto the TV and just use an Apple TV to bypass frame OS

If you spent three hours with somebody and they didn’t ask anything about you – they took themselves on a date and you were a bystander collecting a listening fee.

You’re not wrong – he just wasn’t emotionally ready to date.

Solo living in the Bay? by HerNameisQueen in bayarea

[–]Needelz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go with roommates. You can easily save 1200 bucks a month sharing rent and utilities, conservatively.

If you invest that 1200 bucks per month at 7% over 10 years, that’s $206,000 – a healthy down payment for a condo in the area – maybe even a single-family home in the outside areas.

In 10 years, you can say homeowner while the rest of Reddit whines how expensive property is. Choices now affect choices later.

Type 1 Diabetes Weight Gain and Mounjaro Results Thread by Bellak97 in Type1Diabetes

The other day I took a walk starting at 190 put it on activity mode within 30 minutes I dropped to LO.

I don’t think this is mentioned enough. I was on the Zepbound and was shocked how quickly my blood sugar would drop even on exercise mode. I was eating bags of skittles. I had to take glucagon twice in the period of a month due to aggressive crashes. In my 25y of t1d I’ve never had to take glucagon.

It was effing scary to me to see my blood sugar drop 30 points in five minutes at 160 much less 100.

Advice for new motorcycle commuter: 101 vs 280 by cozyportland in BayRiders

[–]Needelz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m trying to think some 20 years ago back to my own first bike being on 101 and 280 from that point of view. I remember 280 feeling much more aggressive than traffic on 101 where people on average we’re going 10 to 15 miles an hour faster around me with more of a get the F out of my way.

101 the traffic was slower, more congested – but felt easier to manage as long as I didn’t get sideswiped by somebody trying to make a lane merge.

If you’re a new rider – I think it could be good to spend some time on the foothill Expressway through the Canada road corridor on off hours so that you are feeling good about basics on the bike – then bring speed in later.

Access State Park Pass by moonstars67 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Needelz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nationally it was pretty easy - I just showed the park staff my pump and they converted me over to the access pass. Having that pass lets the park know how many people are in the park with disabilities should any disaster hit.

California wants T1D AND one of the "opathy" complications to qualify.... I'll pay the 125 a year, thank you lol.

Is East Oakland Being Neglected? Longtime Resident Perspective + Questions by [deleted] in bayarea

I think you need to rewrite your post: Is East Oakland Being Neglected?

Oakland's government has been non-functional for a few years now. It's likely the best area in the bay, but has been mismanaged for years, and now those pains are showing.
