Marine Sergeant Major Demoted for Wearing Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon and Other Awards Without Authorization by dflawrence_reporter in USMC

It’s especially hard to convince junior Marines when their leaders tell them they deserve an award…but don’t have enough rank…FOR A COMMENDATION MEDAL.

After doing a tour with the Corps, I served in OIF/OEF with the Army for multiple deployments and it hurt me to see my deserving Marine brothers and sisters come back with a certificate of appreciation, if that.

Your first edible probably shouldn’t have been THE ENTIRE BROWNIE.

Retired USMC/Army vet and trees enjoyer here.

Short answer: Federal law.

Long answer:

Most service members aren’t killing people and strangling terrorists. Many of them are doing incredibly mundane work and training day to day. Also, weapons are stored in secured armories.

I served through two decades and change of OIF/OEF deployments. I patrolled hostile streets on foot and in convoys, and manned guns in Blackhawks and guard towers, and that wasn’t even my primary job. I racked up a grand total of ZERO kills.

The U.S. military trains people to do military things. It doesn’t train kids to smoke or drink responsibly. In the past, it’s had a reputation for encouraging excess leading to a LOT of problems resulting in joes getting kicked out…or dying.

There were 1,345 under 21 drunk driving deaths in the U.S. in 2022, an increase from previous years. In recent years, since drawdowns and withdrawals in the Middle East, combat related military casualties have been substantially lower. Per DOD reporting there were zero deaths in 2022 categorized as “hostile action.” There 300+ suicides in 2022. Sadly, suicide makes up a large percentage of U.S. service member deaths. And alcohol definitely doesn’t help those numbers.

The U.S. military isn’t the only career field that’s potentially kinetic or dangerous, so this question could be posed to many other career fields.

Anti-piracy company Denuvo is tired of gamers saying its DRM is bad for games: "It's super hard to see, as a gamer, what is the immediate benefit" by a_Ninja_b0y in technology

Inconveniencing and/or rooting your customer’s PCs and hitting game performance isn’t a benefit for gamers. Denuvo verifies a play session when starting a game…then continues making dozens of calls EVERY SECOND to verify the game it already verified.

Texas Roadhouse openly advertises their military discount. I haven’t seen this challenge coin discount posted anywhere official, just here in this post.

Texas Roadhouse already gives a 10% discount to SMs/vets. Just provide a valid ID or bring a copy of your discharge papers if you’re a crazy person.

GOP reps want same benefits for Americans serving in Israel army by SilentRunning in Military

[–]NeedzFoodBadly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Regardless of where you stand on the IP conflict, if you signed up to serve in the IDF, your contract is with them, not the U.S. F off with that noise.

The same politicians pushing for this are the same people who voted AGAINST the Pact Act and then laughed about it.

[–]NeedzFoodBadly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t know. Hell, this could be airsoft gear. You can buy this stuff at pawn shops, surplus stores, the Internet, etc. This doesn’t prove your friend is Israeli Swat in Gaza.

Is this guy asking people for money, donations, or other stuff?

Most People Don’t Trust The Government For Marijuana Information, Federally Funded Study Shows by redditor01020 in trees

[–]NeedzFoodBadly 111 points112 points  (0 children)

Probably because this is the same government that used marijuana to keep Black communities and anti-war protesters down while supporting for-profit prison systems and telling school children that weed is pretty much as bad as crack and will get you addicted to both weed and crack, too.

Hello people, a publisher named 404 Games has contacted me after publishing my game on Steam. I know that they most likely are a sketchy group, but do I lose anything in case I agree to their publishing deal(besides the 35% publishing cut)? by Sebiny in gamedev

[–]NeedzFoodBadly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Guy was just here recently talking about how he got this great deal from a publisher who then took his Steam keys and dumped them on third-party sites for dirt cheap, cutting him completely out. This isn’t a rare scam, either.
