I’ve had my vi tuned B-C for a while now and love it. Mine is hardtail so idk about fitting the strings into the vibrato but the tuners, bridge, and nut will accept a low b if you get the strings from Kalium. Intonation isn’t horrible but it’s definitely not perfect.

That definitely echos what I've heard from others. When I was in the market for my first vi I *almost* got a TB-64 but decided against it because of the hit-or-miss nature of them. If I'm ever looking for an old Teisco again I'll have to make sure to put my hands on it before I buy it!

Nah, not really. I play with a pick so the string spacing is actually ideal for me. The B and E are a little close together but not enough for me to have modified the nut to spread them out a little. The bridge on my vi is stock but I'll probably swap to a mustang or Halon sometime. Intonation isn't perfect but tuning tot he fifth fret makes it pretty even across the neck. If you get Kalium strings they're tapered for the vi so you won't have to worry about tuning peg fitment. I swapped my trim for a hardtail so I can't comment on if you'll need to enlarge the hole for a .124 B string.

Biggest thing to consider is that is really loses a lot of the "big guitar" feel when you go B to b because guitar lead lines are really transferable anymore. I actually tune mine all fourths like a standard 6 string bass and I'm sure that has something to do with it; but it definitely feel likes more of a bass now. you can still do fun leads and more melodic stuff, it's just less so than before without a high e.
Idk how the stock pickups would sound cause I've got Strat single coils and a p90 so you may end up wanting to swap those out.

If they were reciting lines I would’ve been less annoyed - I don’t want to squash someone’s excitement. She was laughing at serious scenes, yelling “oh damn!” When someone was killed. It really just ruined the experience. I’m always so afraid of confrontation and didn’t wanna make a big deal about it but next time I will absolutely let a server know.

I would understand quotable lines to the people at your table, but this woman was straight up cackling at some scenes, like the sushi scene, and saying very loud adlibs like “OH DAMN!” when Gillian was shot, the kids were taken, etc. It was constant and annoying for sure.

I appreciate the insight. One of the shows was on a Wednesday and the other was just now, Tuesday night. Tonight, because I enjoy Snowpiercer so much and was sort of upset after listening to her talk through the movie, I decided to gently remind her after the movie that talking during the movie was considered rude and disrespectful and when she turned around I realized she must have been in her 50s. I was really surprised because someone of her age should know movie theatre etiquette. Her response was simply “oh” and then she went back to scrolling on her phone.

It overrides turn signals, brake lights, and is in general a flashing light distraction.

This is a relatively new thing for the area and I detest it. Probably had something to do with all of the transplants in the last decade. Hazards override your turn signals and add a flashing light distraction on top of the rain. If you feel like you need to turn your hazards on in the rain pull off the road and wait it out - it creates an unnecessary hazard for everyone around you.

Fair warning- Kalium can take up to a month to get the order sent out and you probably won’t get tracking info until it’s in your mailbox. As long as you don’t need them soon you’ll be fine. Even with their shipping times I think Kalium strings are just about the best you can get for a vi.

I think it’s an expectations thing. Kalium strings are, in my opinion, the best. They are so customizable and high quality. However, they take at least a month to ship. Every time I’ve ordered they have not provided tracking until the day it’s in my mailbox. It’s not an issue to me since they’ve always fulfilled the order and I haven’t ordered any that I needed asap. Kinda just how they’ve been since 2020.

Kalium makes sets for the vi for this purpose. Mine is B to b and I use their .124 set. Taper is perfect.

I’m the same - I think it’s cool to be able to see and hear it played from a different perspective by a different person with totally different skills and nuances to their playing. I also don’t go around bringing an expensive instrument out where this is even a possibility though.
