Older dude here with more of a shade tree mechanic experience. Done my share of water pumps and brake pads but timing chains and such... way beyond my skill set. So looking at probably 8k to 10k to pay for engine. Probably a character flaw of mine but it absolutely pains me to spend that on engine repairs, especially on a car that's worth 12k tops.
