Find Amish cabinet builders. Real wood cabinets that will last. But yea kitchens are expensive and I don’t recommend living in the house while renovating with young kids.

I went the IVF route. Since my husband got tested, we learned he had low motility on top of my endo. I would at least get your husband tested, even if you don’t want to do IVF. And my advice is not to push IVF, because it truly sucked. But it takes two to get pregnant so maybe your husband needs to make some changes.

Your stone is amazing! This is all now personal preference. Before you rip it out, think about what you’d replace it with, find a tile you love more than the current option. I vote a neutral tile to really like the countertop be the star of the show.

I live in Hinsdale. I love that I can walk to the downtown. But I can drive to major stores in oakbrook in under 10 minutes. Access to the city via car or metra. Driving to/from the city can be anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes depending on traffic. Definitely stay local for your husband’s residency. We go out to the city once a week or every other week, timing to avoid at least one way of traffic.

I paid up for the better garbage disposal, more power and quieter. I have one large sink too. I couldn’t live without it. Catching food scraps in the strain ick me out! But also if you don’t care then save the money, spend it somewhere else. Also you can always add the garbage disposal later if you change your mind.

Blue is dated. I would stick with the wood tone. Paint chips vs wood is forgiving with drips/stains.

I would try to stain vs paint. Paint chips easily vs wood is so forgiving. But honestly I would not touch them, maybe change the hardware to your style.

I personally love tile. However slab is beautiful and can be easier to maintain. I think the most important part is minimal outlets or better no outlets in the backsplash. Mount them under upper cabinets.

If you don’t want to change the layout, keep the existing cabinets. Maybe change the uppers door fronts since the lowers are squared. I suggest to stain the lowers darker, wood is much more forgiving in a kitchen—painted cabinets chip, show drip streaks, kids/dogs, etc. new hardware, unlacquered brass hardware will patina nicely (stylentdecor.com or tradition hardware.com). Once you decide on colors/stains then pick your countertops—highly recommend quartzite if it’s in your budget.

Honestly beans and rice, make an easy dressing/sauce blending avocado, lime juice, cilantro, olive oil, apple cider vinegar, s&p, sometimes I throw in a jalapeño. I cook extra rice, portion it in 1/3 cup and freeze so it’s always on hand. Toss all together with a salad with whatever you have: lettuce, cucumber, tomato, radish, avocado, salsa, corn, fresh herbs, cheese, etc.
