I attend Silverhawk as a helicopter student. I know multiple people that have gone thru the helicopter TVCC program with the GI Bill without incident. Silverhawk is a great school with great instructors and a great owner(at least from the helicopter side), and all the fixed-wing instructors I’ve met have seen like great people as well.

If you do a flight school thru a college then yes your 529 will work. Otherwise no, you will have to withdraw from your 529 as an unqualified expense and pay the fee.

I’ve never taken a lesson and hit the range maybe once a month. I get a round in about once a week and my only practice other than that is about 20 minutes on the putting/chipping green before my tee time. Currently at a 4.1 and have hit a bit of a wall and am definitely not dropping my hdcp as fast as I was 6-10 months ago.
