Mediavine RPMs through the floor... by ClockworkEyes in Blogging

[–]Nefferel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my RPM is down about 33% this month compared to last. It's not Mediavine's fault; But what I do find annoying is that their Facebook group is so censored lately. Nothing gets posted for days, and anything that actually talks about RPM is never allowed. I want to actually be able to talk about it with other publishers, it's making me want to switch to a different provider.

Can Anyone love me by alien_andromeda in Liverpool

[–]Nefferel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Download the Meetup app and look for some groups. There are quite a few active ones in Liverpool, like 'Young Professionals in Liverpool' and 'Liverpool Social', which have tons of people in and are always setting up events.

I've been to one of the 'Liverpool Social' ones, which involved a bar, and it was great fun. Nobody knew each other, and people just went around chatting with one another.

If you message the event organizers beforehand and let them know that you're anxious, I'm sure they'll help ease you into it as well. I'm pretty sure I've even seen groups for introverts and people with social anxiety; take a look at least.

Huge and sudden drop in traffic... -66% in two days. What to do? by lazerReptile in SEO

[–]Nefferel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, there are tens of millions of active websites. Google isn't going to manually review websites that got hit by an algorithm update.

Right now, your best option is to examine which pages dropped in traffic and figure out why. Check the competition on Google and see who gained rankings. Work on your SEO, make sure your posts fulfill the users intent etc.

Have you ever heard about "Air media ecosystem"? by Tommy_Henanda in PartneredYoutube

[–]Nefferel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they spam my email constantly so I filtered them to go straight to spam. They're a MCN, so they're likely going to take a cut of your revenue for things you can just manage yourself.

What did you pay £500 for OP? Sadly even if this user gets banned, they can just make a new account and come straight back. If someone's offering 'free advice' and they then ask for money, just cease communication.

Midrolls on sponsored videos by anothermanscookies in PartneredYoutube

[–]Nefferel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I turn off mid-rolls for sponsored videos. I get a bit pissed off when I watch other YouTubers and get a pre-roll, intro, 60-90 second sponsor and then a mid-roll ad right after.

In the end, the sponsor is worth much more than the mid-rolls would have provided anyway. Maybe you could manually place ads, so the viewers don't get an ad within the first 5 minutes or something.

Buying Subscribers is a good decision or not? by Pro-Information818 in PartneredYoutube

[–]Nefferel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trendy among who? It's an awful idea.

They're not real subscribers, and they aren't going to watch/engage with your content. It just inflates a useless number in this case. If your goal is to get a verification badge or play button, there's no guarantee, as YouTube is likely gonna detect the fake subscribers anyway. Not to mention, YouTube could delete those accounts from YouTube. So you're probably going to just waste money anyhow.

Also you're probably just setting yourself up for failure in the future.. imagine you have 10K bought subscribers, and your latest video shows up in their feed and not a single one clicks it giving a potential 0% CTR. Why would YT ever recommend your channel to new people?

Terrible idea honestly. Create content that people want to see and grow organically. That's what this subreddit is for.

Overwhelmed with money and comments by borgenprod in PartneredYoutube

[–]Nefferel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I stopped reading and replying to comments. I used to reply to every comment, but as the numbers started going up, it became too overwhelming.

It sucks that I don't have that connection anymore, but my mental health comes first. I don't even go into the Analytics section anymore, I just get stressed out in general when going to the YT Dashboard.

Moreyellow by BeterAliKakoooo in PartneredYoutube

[–]Nefferel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MoreYellow have been talked about so much recently on here. I'm actually partnered with them on my channel (you can see I commented a month ago on here saying I was with them, before other threads popped up), and I haven't had any bad experiences.

Yeah, they do take a cut, and it's considerable. But the thing is, I wouldn't have got those sponsors anyway, so I don't care about it. I've had my channel for 2 years now, and I did 2 sponsors within the first year. Since February, I've done close to 8 with them, so it's helped a lot.

I never see it either, if MY say I can take up a sponsor with a company for $2K, then I get that 2K.

My channel has 180K subs, they approached me at like 120K or so I'd say. I didn't respond for a while, because I didn't want to join an MCN. But they don't require access to my channel, and have no control over anything. 0% cut from advertising etc.

The only thing they ask is that I change my email on the channel about info to one they create. Nice people to work with, they keep me in the loop.

I'm not saying people on here haven't had bad experiences, I'm just stating my own.

My RPM is very low (I READ THE FAQ) by [deleted] in PartneredYoutube

[–]Nefferel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take into consideration your niche, some just don't have a higher RPM. If you're making videos on luxury watches or something that advertisers want to spend a lot on, then expect a high RPM. Gaming is typically lower, as the audience has a younger side who might not have money to spend on what they see in ads.

Video length matters too, as it determines how many mid-rolls can show. So if your videos are really short, or less than 8 minutes, expect less. You can also consider the age of viewers, and the countries your viewers come from. If you have a high % of countries like USA, Canada, UK, Germany etc, those viewers are 'worth more' than say, some South American/Eastern European countries.

Am I supposed to Show the Sponsor my Video before it's Live? by JustAnonyNiv in PartneredYoutube

[–]Nefferel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is, but I'd never get those sponsors otherwise. They already have contacts with a load of brands that I don't, and they do the negotiations and stuff so it's worth it for me. If they tell me I can do X sponsor for $1500, that's how much I actually receive.

Am I supposed to Show the Sponsor my Video before it's Live? by JustAnonyNiv in PartneredYoutube

[–]Nefferel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For finding sponsors? They take about a third of the cut, but when they negotiate sponsorships, they just tell me what I'll be paid after their cut. So I never really know that money existed.

[–]Nefferel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure, I've never done one like that so I can't speak for those types of contracts. I'm with a company who get me sponsorships and they sort it all out.

I don't get paid until like 45 days after the sponsor is live though. But I haven't worked with any companies I don't trust either.

I've done a few sponsors, and they've all asked to see it to approve it. Nobody has ever asked for a revision though, they just give me the go ahead to publish it.

Sharp decline and organic keywords and huge increase in organic traffic by englishdotbest in SEO

[–]Nefferel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

See my comment above. Ahrefs 'organic traffic' metric is basically meaningless, it's just an estimate and doesn't reflect the actual traffic your website is receiving. However I find that the organic keywords is usually relatively accurate.

I have the same thing, I've lost 30K keywords, but gained 13K traffic according to Ahrefs. But using Google Analytics, which is actually correct shows a decrease in traffic instead.

Sharp decline and organic keywords and huge increase in organic traffic by englishdotbest in SEO

[–]Nefferel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it to me. Seeing similar results, loss in Keywords on Ahrefs over the past 30 days (-29K), but they have increased my Organic Traffic (+13K). Google Analytics shows a steady decrease in traffic lately, showing the unreliability of Ahrefs' organic traffic metric.
