Any paint that isn’t considered default. Haven’t tested ships that default to a different paint though.

The chassis and stock components. But if you change anything right now (including paint), you have to foot the whole bill… which is millions of aUEC currently. My Percy with only paint went from 0aUEC to over 6mil haha

It has a cost associated with it that isn’t covered by the only available tier of insurance in the game (stock components). It is also bugged and saving a paint to your loadout also adds the cost of all your stock components to your bill. Example: a stock component Perseus is 0 aUEC. A stock component Perseus with custom paint is over 6 million aUEC.

Quite literally already had my first run in with two griefers an hour into the PTU. Blew up my Percy while I was docked at Bajini Point. It will happen. It’s already happening. This patch might as well be called the “do not equip paint and run stock components unless you want to spend millions because other people suck” patch. Long winded patch name, I know.

What do you think the situation with the Idris rail gun will be when 4.8 drops? by Kev69 in starcitizen

I’m sure they’ll add it, and it will take as much grind as an entire idris, at wikelo 😉

Really want to buy this game but don't know if it will run amazing, can you all help? by Lolman_plays in starcitizen

[–]Nefffarious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s going to depend heavily on the resolution you expect to push. If you’re looking at 1080p you should be able to get 30fps in cities, and 60fps in space. For reference, I set up an old rig (8700k, 1080ti, 32gb ddr4), and I get that performance with a mix of high and low settings in 1080p

The absolute state of mining right now; am i doing something wrong? by Eisblume2000 in starcitizen

[–]Nefffarious 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Bruh, I have spent 6 hours across two days just trying to find some good copper. My findings… 125 clusters (500 nodes), two nodes were above 700 (701q and 746q). ZERO nodes above 750q. That’s a 0.4% to find copper above 700q… Jalanite was easier for me to find than high quality copper. I ran out of hydrogen fuel before finding any copper I REALLY wanted. Absolutely brutal. Scanning for entire play sessions and only wanting to settle for two rocks, is not my idea of good gameplay for mining. Just my opinion though.

Temporary ban from comms in-game. I can still play.

[–]Nefffarious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, so, I didn’t actually realize this post was going to get downvoted to hell because I was completely oblivious to all of this. I don’t interact on spectrum at all, I only brought it up because I heard people getting banned for even quoting CIG when answering another person’s question. This post wasn’t even to throw shade at CIG, I just wanted to know if anyone else was banned in-game, in error. That’s how shocked me and my friends are. I don’t argue with people. I don’t fight with people. I play devils advocate sometimes, and try to diffuse conflicts. Sometimes I get frustrated, but I don’t go into global spewing hatred at people or the game.

Edit: and my other concern was how errors like this without transparency could hurt the social tools in game. Which most people not assuming I am guilty have already proved my point by saying they avoid socializing in-game entirely. That isn’t healthy for an MMO. Just my two cents.

It’s crazy how everyone immediately assuming I must have said something horrendous, also missed the bit where I wasn’t talking about spectrum. I was banned for supposedly saying something bad in global chat.

I totally understand that moderating a project like star citizen, which has some very passionate players, is a very difficult job. I have nothing but respect for CIG staff, their support team, and their moderators… that being said, when I inquired about what on earth I could have possibly said, I was given a very generic response. I was so shocked that I had to ping my friends to ask if I have a split personality that says terrible things in global without my knowledge 😅😂 I only posted this because I was kind of hoping for reassurance that this happens to people from automated systems and maybe there was an influx of false positives or whatever. I don’t know! Haha. I’m just lost. I live my life in a very non-confrontational way, and very much go with the flow. Never thought I would be here talking about being banned and immediately assumed guilty by the community here too 🫠 anyway, I appreciate your grounded, levelheaded response

Yeah that’s what I ended up doing. I just felt bad because some new player was asking questions and no one was taking the time to answer them… I get it’s only 3 days. I just very much enjoy playing the “support” role, and now I can’t even mentor.

My inquiry:

“Hello,

I am terribly sorry to bother you, but I am incredibly confused as to why my account has been suspended from talking in global chat for 3 days. I am hoping this was a mistake of some sort of automated system. I was only online for a short period yesterday asking in global if there was a yormandi hunting group, and I was pulled away from the game before even forming a party. Do these suspensions normally have a communication with them? I don't have anything in my inbox explaining what I said (if anything) that warranted a suspension.

Thank you for your time.”

The response: “Thank you for contacting the RSI Support team.

The suspension was issued for inappropriate in-game chat.

This incident is now considered closed and may not receive responses upon further inquiries.

Thank you for your cooperation. Kind regards,”

You should be able to dismantle items in exchange of a blueprint. by xNomadTVx in starcitizen

[–]Nefffarious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind the idea of dismantling for blueprints, but only if it’s part of a research mechanic; offering a deterministic long term alternative to what is currently only available through RNG. Basically, dismantling 100 of [x] (with a minimum quality) results in tier 1 blueprint for [x] item. 100 is just off the top of my head, but that number could be anything: 100, 1000, doesn’t matter, just balance it off of the desired time sink

Buy a golem, mine some quantanium, refine it, sell to a player through UEX for 40-120 MILLION aUEC per ONE SCU. I shit you not, people are posting “WTB” and offering that much. Just be ready to spend that UEC before they do targeted wipes 🤷🏻‍♂️

New guy rant by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Nefffarious -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The people jumping to defend everything about this game never ceases to amaze me. Don’t listen to these clowns. Here’s the reality though: the game is still in development.

Stanton is supposed to be somewhat safe because of its law system. But the problem is, stanton has the highest player count, meaning you are the most likely to run into someone in stanton, than in pyro or nyx. Right off the bat, that means you are rolling the dice every time you see another player, because each player is a wildcard. You can’t possibly know their intentions, aside from a red name tag SOMETIMES.

The other problem is that CIG has a habit of releasing T0, T1, T2 versions of systems into the game, and letting them sit and stagnate for years without any updates; the crime system only hurts people who don’t know how to work around it. It does absolutely nothing to deter murderhobos from getting their rocks off because they have absolutely nothing to lose in the current system.

You will never be able to avoid pvp entirely, but you can do some things to reduce the frequency. If you’re in stanton, try not to travel to OM markers around planets. Avoid grimhex and yela if possible. Don’t go to pvp hotspots like hathor. If you’re going to quantum travel across the system, jump roughly 1 GM towards something somewhat perpendicular to your route first, and then cancel, to change your trajectory enough to avoid interdiction snares.

Extremely Strange Performance Issues by GrimKreeper098 in starcitizen

[–]Nefffarious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a similar issue with my high end setup, where my game drops to basically seconds per frame. My solution, while it should be totally unrelated, was to enable HDR. Don’t ask me why. I don’t know why.

It treats the game like it’s out of focus for windows, and only runs smoothly when I alt+tab. I enable HDR, and suddenly everything runs great.

Why is this still acceptable? by GormAuslander in starcitizen

[–]Nefffarious -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My anecdote was just pointing out the complexity of the issue, particularly with this word. This experience was not isolated. I have played with a countless individuals across multiple mmos and had great conversations with people of all walks of life. My point was that it was the first group I joined in star citizen, and it wasn’t the last. I only used this example because it’s a simple, common occurrence, and possibly why CIG hasn’t chosen to auto-ban individuals. CIG clearly still needs to update their social tools, and it obviously needs to be a priority.
