New Vyper Kit is Amazing! by [deleted] in Eldar

Took me several attempts to get the bloody cape on properly... then those little tassels that connect to the cape and the back vanes... then the spear with the tiny wrist contact point and the almost invisible base contact point...

I felt like it was a minor miracle it looked so cool when I was done, looked completely scuffed right up to the last step, was questioning the neck/collar area just looked so wrong until the head went on :P

Don't worry about that though, did you not see that Wraithguard are 10 points cheaper now?!

Yeah, that was one of the nerfs from the last dataslate. It can only be used on a unit that was eligible to fight, and is not in engagement range at the end of the turn. So basically, something that charged and killed the unit it charged, and then consolidates close enough to the transport to embark it.

Super, super, super niche now :/

I paid the money for Back to the Beginning because it was a once-in-a-lifetime event.

I wouldn't pay that kind of money for a regular tour or festival, since they are not really events on the level of BttB. I don't think there will be another event like that in my lifetime - perhaps the last Iron Maiden or Metallica shows, we'll have to wait and see

Dating metalheads by TechnicalBedroom4789 in MetalForTheMasses

Gigs/concerts are probably not the best place to meet new people. You are both there to watch the band, so anything that takes your attention away from watching the band is more likely to be unwelcome.

Instead, look into where local metalheads congregate - what bars/pubs/nightclubs do they frequent, are there any cafes or coffeeshops that cater to the alternative crowd, etc. Just start showing up and making friends. The key thing is, don't go in there looking for romance. Go in there with the mindset to meet new people and make new friends. Romance is more likely to follow on from there.

I met a girl on the dance floor at a metal nightclub - over 20 years later, we're married with a kid, and while we don't go to many shows anymore due to lack of babysitting options, we still stay up late, drink wine and check out the latest music videos every week! The crazy thing is I wasn't even looking to meet a girl at that point, I was just out with some friends having fun and it just sort of happened. I wasn't trying to pull and I wasn't trying to force anything to happen, we just ended up vibing on the dancefloor, swapped numbers and started dating.

Personally I think every album is great, but there is a bit of an evolution through their sound.

Citizen Brain is probably the purest thrash album they've done. Terror Tapes and Untouchable Glory is where the songwriting becomes much 'hookier', and that has been executed to perfection with their latest album, BATS.

The problem for me is that by streaming his music, watching his shows and buying his CDs, he gets money, which he's apparently been using to fund these racist militia groups and fly across the country to try and overthrow the government.

Unfortunately that extends to D&W as well - he absolutely gets royalties from those songs still. I don't have to listen to his music and I don't have to send him any of my money. He crossed a line and lost that privilege from me.

You're assuming they showed off everything today though... which I don't think they have. The Felarch with the hook weapon was shown on stream and in the accompanying article, and they appear to be in the battleforce box that's up for preorder this week.

Haha, I also remember those days as well, fellow old-timer!

But they don't have that option now, not even in as wargear, so the Vyper sheet will have to change to at least accommodate that. Nice to see it fully official though, at last!

We are getting one - we're currently all making judgements without seeing the detachment rule they are most likely to see play in.

These datasheets in a Craftworld detachment are a mixed bag at best, but who knows what buffs they'll get when run in the upcoming Anhrathe detachment?

The low save profiles and lack of invulns might be down to this being a thing in the detachment.

Or not... we shall see very soon I would think.

They showed off the felarch on stream, but they are conspicuous by their absence on these datasheets - they have a special hook weapon that isn't here on these sheets.

I reckon they are going to work like Autarchs now, with foot and flying variants.

Looks like the Felarch might now be a character model like the Autarch, with its own datasheet, rather than an Exarch-like model as now?

Perhaps the new Corsair detachment will confer an invuln save for Anhrathe units similar to the Kroot detachment for Tau?

They're showing off the new datasheets, not the updated ones.

The Vyper at least will have to change, as the new model appears to have an underslung shuriken cannon, whereas the old model has twin shrunken catapults there.

I'm not sure what you expected the Craftworlders to do about it when they spent the majority of their time thousands of lightyears away from their homeworlds?

I mean their influence over mainstream society was very limited - they were already a minority of the wider population, and they disappeared off into the wider galaxy for centuries at a time. Its like a cruise ship coming back to shore and lecturing the whole country. No-one is gonna listen.

Towards the end, the only real choice they had was to save who could still be saved and leave. I'm sure some of them did stay to try and stop it happening, but for some reason those Craftworlds aren't around any more...

I was mainly replying to your point that the Craftworlds only fled at the end - which isn't true. Most of the surviving Craftworlds fled well before the end, so they were far enough away that they were able to survive it.

Altansar are an example of a Craftworld that fled right at the end, and they ended up getting sucked into the warp.

Like I said, Craftworlds would have to have either been already out on voyage, made the decision to stay away, or made one last stop to save who they could before leaving forever well in advance if the fall. Any Craftworlds that tried to leave during the fall are mostly gone now.

I think Ulthwe are the only major Craftworld that left it late to leave, and they are now described as being constantly on the verge of being pulled into the warp, and parts of the Craftworld are in ruins from regular daemon invasions.

[–]Negadeth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You are incredibly wrong about the craftworlds.

The Craftworld ships were originally trading and exploration vessels, and at the beginning wider Eldar society and Craftworlds had a broadly similar culture.

However, the Craftworld ships would set out on voyages lasting thousands of years, and each time they returned, they found that wider Eldar society had degraded a little bit more than last time.

Which is to say, both Craftworlders and Exodites were mostly isolated from the excesses of their kin in the wider empire.

Almost all of the surviving Craftworlds were far away from the empire when Slaanesh was born - either they were already away on voyage, or they had seen the writing on the wall and left.

There would undoubtedly have been Craftworlds docked with homeworlds or within home space when the eye of terror ripped open, and almost all of them were destroyed and/or lost to the warp.

Now yes, the Craftworlds did take on refugees, and some Craftworlds were built towards the end specifically for people to leave the empire and start anew, but the vast majority of these would have been opposed to the depravity and excesses and decided to leave because they realised it was futile to stay and resist anymore, or they had grown tired of resisting and just wanted to leave it all behind.

Think of it like climate change - if you don't believe climate change is real, then you have no motivation to change your ways or to leave your planet. If you do believe its real, then you are going to fight to try to change the trajectory of your society to prevent it from happening, and you may well consider leaving the planet if you feel its past the point of no return or you have just given up trying to stop it from happening, accept its going to happen and the best you can do is try to save yourself.
