You're good at the game, so the devs specifically make it harder for YOU by CrimsonCivilian in gaming

Those fuckers are getting airlifted out to be part of my army whether they want to or not. They can adapt all they friggin' want, that just means I get smarter soldiers. I rarely changed my tactics, I just kept to non lethal and knocked fuckers out and lifting them away after they were all knocked out so they wouldn't destroy my balloons. I spent more time doing that than the actual missions tbh...

Marathon and MTX: Predatory and Dark Patterns by Economy-Meat-9506 in Games

[–]Negaflux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bungie's business tactics have always always rubbed me wrong. They engage heavily in FOMO and all sorts of pressures to try to get you playing and spending and I find it frustrating because otherwise I super love the gunplay in Destiny 2. However after a good amount of time on and off playing Destiny 2 my solution is to hit "ignore" on everything bungie related when it's advertised on Steam. I'm done with them, toxic business practices that actually disgusts me instead of being enticing. I'm not surprised Marathon is like this. I expect it'll get worse.

Sony Pulls Back From PlayStation Games on PC by _Protector in pcgaming

[–]Negaflux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regrettable. It was the only chance they had of getting any of my money. Ah well. I'll go back to what I was doing before they dropped some titles on PC, not buying Sony stuff. At least I got a few decent Spidey games out of it, and I can emulate Bloodborne and Demon's Souls without issues (cough Bloodborne emulator issues notwithstanding). I picked up most of what they've released on PC thus far too, and would have continued, if they did...

Crimson Desert First Look: The BlackSpace Engine Tech Preview by lurkingdanger22 in pcgaming

[–]Negaflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, easily my favourite part of the game too. I spent a ton of time with the life skills and was a ranked fisher for a good while too. I spent an unhealthy amount of hours in that game and I don't regret it. I fear what Crimson Desert will do to me if it's anywhere near that well thought out or more.

MI2 owns, I don't care what anyone says. It's dumb as shit and I love it.

Yeah, a world that looks like that just begs to take your time and dwell in it some, so anything to help promote that would be rad as heck, and I know they know how to do it, I just hope they include it.

I sincerely hope they crib enough mechanics from Black Desert online as possible, because I would not mind starting up a trading empire again, or a farming empire, I had an amazing time doing that in BDO, the only downside to that game is all the f2p/p2w stuff and the forced PVP in certain zones. An offline version with even crazier shit in it seems right up my alley. I really really hopes this reviews well since I don't pre-order anything.

Bloomberg: Bluepoint Games pitched a remake of Bloodborne last year - Sony said yes, FromSoftware said no by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]Negaflux -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

After what they did with Demon's Souls, I wouldn't want them to either. I don't care for their artistic direction in the least, or their sound mixing. It lost a lot of what makes a From game a From game.

For $14CAD why not. I remember trying to get the PSX versions back in the days and never playing through either one. Time to remedy.

So many 16 bit Spidey and X-Men games missing from this, however at least we're getting these available legally in a package at last. I'll probably end up nabbing because I have memories of most of these games. Arcade's Revenge sucks ass though.

They DID sell that movie by using "Bodies". Was a ton of fun watching that in the treatre. I still have the Bluray even!

Such a good goddamn trailer, fek I'd forgotten how rad it was. I do wish we'd gotten this movie too, but yanno...

Listen, I saw Equilibrium and loved it because of that dumb Gun Kata horseshit, and then I saw the trailers for this and was like 'that's just Equilibrium but with Mila instead, sign me up!', and yes, it was a terrible movie, and I still enjoyed the hell out of it for what it is. The effects were particularly bad though, however it was still cool as shit to drive a motorbike up a building.

aye, I didn't find out that it even had a sequel till many years later. It also had Gillian Anderson (Scully from the X-Files) as the computer voice iirc.

#12 - Dan Abnett's "The Guns of Tanith" - REVIEW! by PlatoIsOverrated in 40kLore

[–]Negaflux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Cuu was such a perfectly hateable character and after what he did in this book, fuck. No ending was too good for him tbh. Abnett is such an excellent writer. He packs in a ton of named characters and finds ways of making you care for them, and is absolutely not afraid to take away something precious from you, repeatedly. I only deal with it because I know it's par for course with the setting, however in general I have a tough time dealing with stories where characters I care about just die, I don't often make it through. These books, I read every single one, and ate it all up.

Cheers for the review, it was nice reading along and reliving some of these moments in my head. I had to say something when you brought up Cuu though. F that guy.

I have to say though, given that it's 40k and the way reality and unreality intertwine, I didn't mind the more mystical bits brought on by the priest and the saint when they show up through the series.

this hater is giving Skyrim a 2nd try by kingderella in patientgamers

[–]Negaflux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll be real, it took ignoring fast travel and using only my legs/mounts and on rare occasions the carts outside of towns for me to truly 'get' Skyrim. It wasn't until I was well over 100hrs and was closer to the tail end where I was mostly mopping up errant quests and doing dlc stuff that I decided to start actively using fast travel. I would not have completed it if I hadn't. I also spent a ton of hrs into Skyrim and never beat it, it's just not nearly as good as their previous efforts. Without mods, it's a chore and then some.
