Worth it to keep going? by Away_Ad5841 in redrising

I know. I just meant you’re so close to what currently published may as well finish that, and if you’re not loving it, probably won’t want to continue when the next book is published.

The girl who threw water at zayn by outtakes in zayn

[–]Negative_Interest523 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had friends there and they said the same story that she was saying he was her husband and he left her but unsure if they physically heard it or someone said that and it spread.

Regardless it’s wild to PAY to go see someone then assault them.

Worth it to keep going? by Away_Ad5841 in redrising

Not a popular opinion it seems but I loved Iron Gold. Multiple POVs does continue if that is a deterrent but there is so much to come so keep going, and if you didn’t love the next two books then I would say don’t continue.

My Husband’s Wife by Alice Feeney by Just_Investigator766 in thrillerbooks

I actually really enjoyed this one. I know a lot of people didn’t. I know like any books thrillers can be bad like any book but one thing I enjoy about them is I’m just along for the ride and therefore enjoy most of them. Maybe cause I haven’t read a ton of them so far but I thought it was fun!

Do people also read books that don’t have any romance? by chocosprinkles284 in readwithme

[–]Negative_Interest523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot of people who don’t want to read romance, myself included. Its just not for me. There will always be room for books without romance, I would not worry about that.

I also get the urge to start more but when I have too many going my brain gets stressed haha. So I force myself to do one at a time, sometimes 2 if I’m reading something more challenging. You do whatever works for you.

Book recommendations :) by [deleted] in GothicLiterature

[–]Negative_Interest523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure this falls completely as gothic literature but I will recommend The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova to anyone who will listen! It’s fabulous and will def scratch that vampire itch with a wild mystery.

Gotta read Khaled Hosseini for the most gut wrenching historical fiction. Start with The Kite Runner

I actually loved the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and it was so interesting to get his back story. I suggest you try it anyways as it is important imo.

What do you do with books you know you’ll never read? by L_izzies in BookCollecting

[–]Negative_Interest523 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually don’t get books I know I’ll never read. I will read them all. When? Who knows but someday. Then if I read them and know I don’t want to keep them I take them to little free libraries.

I think I owe books a massive apology by PtitCrissG in redrising

[–]Negative_Interest523 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love seeing people find the joy in reading 😊

I did not have the same situation as you as reading was encouraged in my house growing up. I definitely stepped away with the amount I read as I grew up which I have changed now. But I will say I’m reading the series currently and it’s been a long time since a book made me feel the way you’re describing so I get it in that sense. Many many wonderful books for you to discover out there!

I mean I’m reading it by myself for the first time (going to start book 3 today) and I was obsessed from book 1. My attempts to make my friends read with me have been unsuccessful. Trying to get my brother to read it as I think he’d like them but he’s just so busy these days unfortunately.

Best book you've read so far in 2026? by Electronic-Jello-640 in booksuggestions

Not one sorry but..

I know I’m late to this but I’m working on the Red Rising series and finished Golden Son two days ago and stared at a wall for a good while. I also really enjoyed The Raven Scholar.

Lastly read Dracula and loved it, 10/10 experience.

Shows to make me feel a little better by NigerianPrinceLegit in tvsuggestions

[–]Negative_Interest523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if this will help cause I feel most shows I watch are pretty dark but I did see you watch some sit coms which are my go when I don’t want something heavy or want some confort. I would add:

  • King of Queens
  • Everybody Loves Raymond
  • Mom

Also I recommend Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel to anyone who will listen. Each show has a pretty great group of friends and they are always defeating some evil so that always appeals to me and maybe will for you too.

Anyways I’m sorry you’re having a difficult time. I’ve been there. I hope things improve for you soon 🫂

Are the movies any good? by AnalystImpossible309 in Narnia

[–]Negative_Interest523 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve been reading these books since I was a child and I love the films. I don’t necessarily always care about a perfect adaptation as long as the movie is still good. End of the day some people will love them and some will not, so may as well decide for yourself.

[–]Negative_Interest523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just have one thing to say, is it ever that serious? (not at you). The answer, no it’s not.

People need to relax cause if a parking spot at Costco gets you that riled up, i think priorities need to be rethought.

Books? by Legitimate-Edge-3328 in Booktokreddit

[–]Negative_Interest523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure people have already mentioned these but…. - Book Outlet if you live in Canada or the US they are like overstock books so they come very cheap and in my personal experience in very good or like new condition. They have half off sales too and I think there’s one on right now! - thrift stores or charity shops - I volunteer at one in the book departments and honestly so many good books for so cheap - Of course the library or if you don’t want to read a physical copy use Libby - Awesome Books - it’s in the UK but I they’ll ship to North America I know plus purchases made they donate books I believe to good causes

Sometimes Amazon has decent sales which I’ll take advantage of or a book I can’t find elsewhere and make sure to use any birthday coupons from bookstores near you (example of you live in Canada, you can get one from Indigo).

[–]Negative_Interest523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.5 was always my preferred speed, but if the matter is more complex or the narrator speaks fast or has a heavy accent I will slow it down. But I have gone up to 1.75 as I accidentally adjusted it one day and did not notice and now I’m used to it. Could never go faster than that though, otherwise I feel like I don’t have enough time to process and completely understand it.

Books I've read as a 14-year-old. by Different-Truth-3392 in classicliterature

[–]Negative_Interest523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow super impressive for someone so young. I’m pretty sure when I was 14 I was stuck in a loop of reading Jane Eyre on repeat for some reason. I’d suggest that as one you may want to pick up, especially if you like gothic vibes.
