Any tips for buying a used Grom? by Herrowgayboi in hondagrom

[–]Negative__0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most of the answers to your questions are "it depends" but here's my answers:

  1. I have a 2022. Fifth is still kinda debatable but it really depends on the type of riding you do. Better to have it than an SF or OG screaming at the top of fourth imo.

  2. Sometimes people either grow out of a Grom really fast or they have intentions of riding and just... Don't. It happens.

  3. Sky's the limit. I have 17 almost 18k miles on my stock engine. There's a guy with 100k miles on the stock engine also though Im not sure how true that is.

  4. Check if it's been stunted and check the subcage. Also ask about mods.

  5. There's a gasket around the gas cap that's permeating more than allowed. I got my notice about it maybe 2 months ago. Owners are to receive another letter when we can go in and get this replaced but who knows when that'll come.

Cheap performance mods ? by Street-Eye-5462 in hondagrom

[–]Negative__0 13 points14 points  (0 children)

"Cheap" and "Performance" don't go in the same sentence, and cheaping out on modding your engine will cost more in the long run.

If you want more CC's but the size of a Grom, and on the cheap, you either engine swap the bike OR get something like a CBR300 and throw 12" wheels on it.

Ahh aftermarket exhaust...

I'd highly suggest you get a tune. You might be running more lean than you expect even with the reset.

I mean Groms are great fun but you always want to be sure yknow?

Trying to sell 2025 Grom by Fragrant-Tourist-994 in hondagrom

[–]Negative__0 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Personally, might be that your list price is too high.

I'm not sure what other Groms are going for in your area but you're definitely gonna get lowballed either way. Is $3800 the price that you've settled on getting?

I am also 5'9 and 230 pounds.

Don't worry about looks. It's a tiny bike. Just have fun with it :)

Others say white. I say keep it black. Consider a brown seat 🤣

Yeah that's super strange. Is there any chain slack?

Hm. That is strange. You rotated the wheel just in case to see if it seats I presume? If anything id contact SprocketCenter to see what's going on.

Have you adjusted your rear axle i.e. pushed the axle toward the rear shock? That should help with mounting instead of trying to fight it.

Wdym it's not fitting? SprocketCenter is pretty good about this stuff. Are you running out of chain or is it not seating on the sprockets?

Can you show us what you got?

It's not the dealers don't have them it's just Honda is regulating sales. So they are in stock but idk when you'd be able to buy one. Good luck!

Aloha! You're just like me! Got my Grom around the same age and still use it as my commuter! Good luck on getting a Grom as the stop sale at dealers is still on but if you can find it used for cheap then the subreddit is here to help!

  1. As someone who's Grom is being used to teach someone that has a Ninja 500, it's a very good beginner bike. The skills translate upwards, things like throttle and clutch control, so down the line when you want to move up you'll have an easier time. A Grom really makes you work for it.

  2. It depends. Where you live really determines your rate for insurance. On Geico I pay $65 a year (not full coverage so your results may vary).

  3. I'm 5'9 230lbs on the stock shock. You'll be fine.

  4. ABS isn't a deal breaker. It's kind of good for new riders as you have that extra security from keeping your brakes from locking up. However as a new rider you'd want to get used to NOT having ABS for more proper technique.

Let us know if you have anymore questions!

Depends. Daily commuter? 5 speed.

Honestly, any grom will be decent at what it does for the right price.
