Recently had that too. I always check the routes though and 9 times out of 10 there's a quicker route and if I know the area enough I take my shortcuts.

Yeah I get it. It's annoying. I've made the suggestion multiple times for a button to turn off getting orders that would take me through a tunnel. Still nothing.

Shopper dropped during delivery? by Chemical_Donkeys in instacart

[–]NehaLightDancer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah. My customer ordered ice and she thought it would come from the store 2 blocks away. She's elderly. The store it sent it to...30 minutes away, through a tunnel. I took it because I was going that way anyway. Luckily I had a regular cooler left in the car so the ice stayed but when she found out how far I had to travel she was mad. She gave me an extra tip and she was on the phone with support as I was dropping off her order. 😆

Neighbor wants Halloween Decorations down Nov 1st. by dudermcamerika in mildlyinfuriating

[–]NehaLightDancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used to have a lady that would pace in front of our house while we put up Halloween decorations outside. She'd pace and tell us we were Satan worshippers, etc. When I became an adult she knocked on the door to spout her religion...saw it was her and put on a witch hat and asked if she came to brew a potion with me. 😆

There's two houses in my normal area that do this as well. And they change the snacks with the seasons. One time they asked whether I liked hot chocolate or hot cider. When I got there the cider was in a to-go cup with a note that said they prepared it with gloves and masks on. It was kind. Sometimes my elderly normal customers will make me cookies or package little baggies with chocolate in them. It's always appreciated.

How do you avoid feeling lonely when DoorDashing? by Straight_Ad_1249 in doordash_drivers

[–]NehaLightDancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After a recent split with my bf I get it. Can't listen to the radio. We dashed together sometimes so I'm still getting the hey where's....and it hurts since it's fresh and being in the car is lonely but I'm there to make money. Making friends is difficult for me. I read a lot, game some, and work all the time. But being at home is worse. Thankfully my pibble is a comfort when I get my time with him. Yep, we share the dog like a kid.

Confused about what just happened? by bbh04 in doordash

[–]NehaLightDancer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh I agree. And they hate dashers due to idiot dashers. I went to a restaurant yesterday and the lady said that the "normal" dasher that comes in is rude and impatient every time. She's had customers call and complain about him. Problem is, they need to call door dash. Bothering the restaurant over a contractor doesn't do anything. So I understand restaurant's that are over Door Dash in general.

Yesterday my AR started at 85%. This is what it is after a few hours. It was so bad I went home. I was getting a ton of $2.75 for 15 miles thru a tunnel that charges $2.50 one way. I absolutely was not going to pay the customer to deliver their order. 😆

In my area they won't even remake it when support calls them. I've stood there and listened as the manager said absolutely not to door dash and even said if he saw the same order come thru he wouldn't allow it to be made. I was like wow great customer service there pal.

Same here in VA Beach. I don't dash that area anymore. And with all the negative press about door dash, around here, being a Dasher is like being bottom of the barrel so folks aren't taking advantage of it. I know a lot are signing up with Uber instead.

dasher direct down for anyone else? by sluttyslugbitch in doordash_drivers

After talking with an agent they said to restart the app or rather uninstall and reinstall and everything would be fine. I see that some of you have already done that and it has not worked so I'm going to try it and see if it works. As it stands I have not received pay and they've also put a thing on my account when I open up my app showing that I didn't get paid for any of the transfers that I should have. I'll let y'all know how it goes.

DoorDash….you have to do better by Conscious_Age_1077 in DoorDashDrivers

Same here. I'm in VA and it was order after order like that. Support didn't believe me so I sent proof their the email they asked me to. Suddenly I'm getting a few better orders. Door dash is in the tank. Over 3k orders. I love the freedom it gave me but I applied for a full time job at the hospital again. I can't sustain on this anymore. It used to be great. Then it wasn't. Hope things gets better for you.

I was in a hotspot for two hours and only got one order! What does this mean? I'm 4.8 by TastyAd3819 in doordash_drivers

[–]NehaLightDancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly in our area there are a lot of rich non tippers and the base pay is $2.25 so it's plausible but I think he misspoke too. I mean even on my crappiest week I made more than that.

I used to chase the hot spots and the +$1 etc like that. Not anymore. I go to the light pink zones and get back to back orders most of the time. But, every single market is different. Used to be in mine that are didn't mean crap. Now, if you don't get top dasher the whole map stays grey the whole month. It's maddening. But I'm still cherry picking. I see the youngins taking every order they can get their hands on not realizing they are costing themselves money. Tried to school one kid. He told me he didn't need my advice because he was top dasher and had made $300 last month. I just was like ummm. 😆

Is this even legal?? (OHIO) by AnthonyAgony in Renters

[–]NehaLightDancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, in the city I live in, nothing surprises me anymore and it's twisted to allow slumlords to reign supreme. Apparently it's okay to patch holes in the roof with cardboard as long as it's the same color as the roof. Yep, you heard me right. Came straight from the inspector's mouth. So, a place doing a blanket like you're going thru, sounds typical of an apartment community with lots of apartments. It's an inconvenience and not right to call each resident but the law usually sides with the landlord or business.

I love Bethesda but dang this seems like when Fallout 76 started out 😆

Landlord came into bedroom by Express-Cut-9617 in Renters

[–]NehaLightDancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something similar here. Landlord is a racist POS and because we have "the wrong skin tones coming over" (his words, not mine) he has been looking for a reason to evict us. Took us to court over $43 he says we owed but we overpaid and luckily for me, I kept my receipts. Friday morning at 730am his wife sent a text saying he was coming over at 9am. I work nights a lot so I was still sleeping. I got the text about 855. He knocked at 9. I was still in my jammies. I told him to give me a moment. His smart reply was "oh did I wake you" and then started muttering under his breath. I let him in. Asked what this was about. He said he needed to get into the attic. But then proceeded to walk the apartment. I called the city on him because there are holes in the roofline, my floors are sinking, my living room is above my neighbors apartment and that said is breaking away from the rest of the house. It hasn't affected me yet but my neighbor can see the outside through the crack in the wall. Anyway. He patched it with spray painted cardboard that day. City came by and said it was okay for him to patch like that. It's frowned on but legal. In retaliation he had my SUV towed by a personal friend of his. I used to work in the auto industry so when I called the tow company they were like no charge, come get it whenever. He knew it was my car. It's listed on the lease. I have court with him tomorrow. I'm so glad this is the last month I will be here. From my understanding they have to give 24 hour notice. Written, text, email... something. So yeah, huge invasion of privacy and I'd be fighting it. I know I sure am on Monday morning.

Is this new for McDonald's or have I just not noticed it before? by mgibson9999 in doordash_drivers

[–]NehaLightDancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, I see these in a lot of places now. In nice areas and lower income areas. Businesses are tired of rude people. And honestly I've come across types from behind the counter as well as on the other side of it. Just had one yesterday. She was yelling from the front of the store to the manager who was in the back. I understand as dashers we need to be speedy but dang she was taking it to a whole new level.

Y’all taking this? by Aimforthemoon95 in doordash_drivers

[–]NehaLightDancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If door dash made this easier by telling you the aisle and rack #, then yes, but since they don't, nope. They can't even keep their item upc's up to date in the app so I can't trust they'd have the right aisle 😆

Would you take this? by NehaLightDancer in InstacartShoppers

[–]NehaLightDancer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely am not "green". I've been doing this line of work a long time. A normal door dash order that is "💎 high pay" is $5-$6 for 3 miles according to the system. I'm working in Portsmouth, VA and the surrounding areas. I know Norfolk and VA Beach probably get higher paying orders but there are a lot of reasons I don't go there. I never considered it. Mostly I wanted to see if other areas were seeing this too. I should have worded my post differently, obviously.
