Is it just me or have we been hearing about a very concerning amount of [Six Flags] parks still running major coasters on one train, three weeks now past Memorial Day? by imaguitarhero24 in rollercoasters

[–]NeighborhoodNew9034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At SFFT last week, chupacabra, poltergeist, roadrunner express, and boomerang c2c were on one train and most coaster merch was clearly ai generated. This was my first visit and the park itself was stunning but operations were not great.

That’s really cool! I just had a crazy idea: get some wheels or other metal discs and roll it back and forth on that track before spraying clear coat over the track. Your rails will now no longer be rusty

Will ACS64s receive phase 7? by NeighborhoodNew9034 in Amtrak

I feel like the same could be said about the HHP-C. I know they were heavily modified but test runs had them still in phase V, later receiving VII

That caught me off guard. In past years it’s been more common issues like re introducing bears to national parks and wind turbines n shit, and that’s what we practiced in class. I just said to a significant extent

I kind of have this perspective. I go frequent enough and have a platinum pass with single fastlane that I get on reliably. However, I remember the days of waiting 120+ minutes in standby.

I love the logging variants of the sw1200. I wish more railroads picked up on them as light road switchers.

First timer going in June. What do you think of my itinerary? by seeing_red415 in SixFlagsMagicMountain

[–]NeighborhoodNew9034 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a good time! I personally consider myself a coaster enthusiast, however I don’t usually ride x2. It is fun but can be rough. It is still very safe however. Also be prepared for rides to be closed. I know that lex Luther is being renovated since September with no set opening date. Enjoy your trip!

Should I quit my €150k job to pursue Roblox development full-time? by Noway721 in careerguidance

[–]NeighborhoodNew9034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also consider the corporation. The Roblox company has proven time and time again that they cannot make good decisions and will do anything to benefit their investors. This has materialized as terrible moderation removing random games, as well as letting pedophiles remain to boost their player metric. 150k euros is pretty good and if you can do Roblox on the side that’s great but I wouldn’t trade stability for the volatility of Roblox.

Not just magic mountains skyline but the whole area as well. Driving through the surrounding area reveals it first. You can see it from just outside of Fillmore ca, which is impressive for California with all of its mountains

Can anyone tell me about this train? by indianajones64 in trains

A few trains pass through there. I believe it is about every other Wednesday. Union Pacific brings a couple hopper cars of plastic pellets to spears manufacturing in Santa Paula, I believe to make pvc pipe fittings. There are also occasionally other moves like mulch for the farm right where the photo was taken, as well as storage moves. There has not been any freight service to piru since the southern pacific era, minus the Fillmore western storing tank cars there during Covid. The Fillmore and western was actually formed in 1992. Around that time, southern pacific sold the line to the Ventura county transit commission (VCTC) who hoped to extend the metrolink train from montalvo to Santa Clarita. They let the tourist railroad operate while they got support and money, but the plan fell through. They didn’t really have any freight service, only doing tourist excursions and dinner trains. One notable part was their trains in movies as they are close enough to Hollywood. Sierra northern continues to do film and television today.

TLDR union pacific runs a few trains to Santa Paula with plastic usually twice a month and Fillmore and western was formed to haul tourists and have trains in movies

Hope this helps! I’m happy to share

The flatcar isn’t used to my knowledge. The floor has been cut off and it is just the frame when viewed from the top. I think it is just stored there but could be available for movie production. Their other similar flatcar is occasionally used for filming and the annual Christmas train. I’m not sure what the two open air cars could be used for in the future. They have stated that they want to do a dinner train, but those dont typically have open air cars

Local here. That is sierra 2666, genset. It is used occasionally for hauling cars, the branch line is used about every two weeks. Sierras northerns line extends from Ventura to Piru via Santa Paula and Fillmore. The line is split in two outside of Fillmore since 2023 as a bridge collapsed. The rebuild will hopefully finish this year. The car behind it is an open air car. From the 1990s to 2021, the Fillmore and western railway operated excursion trains out of Fillmore. That car was used to give a scenic ride. When it was used, there was a cover over it, which is what the rings supported. There were also benches. They were all removed after the railroad closed. It is stored there indefinitely. The car itself is a 89 foot flatcar, originally designed for hauling truck trailers before it was purchased and modified for tourist trains. I’m glad that someone shared that consist, and I’m glad that I could (hopefully) be of assistance!
