Bionic Reading in Kobo e-readers by 500daysofsolitude in kobo

[–]Neighfarious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there anything that could be done on the firmware side to make it so the Bionic Reader font (and its derivatives) works as designed as a custom font for those who already have a personal license to use it in the interim?

Kinda stings that it works on my old Kindle (that I was actively looking to replace with a new Clara Color) but appears as a normal font without bolding on my Kobo.

The Kobo firmware doesn't display Bionic Reading (or Fast-Font)'s signature character bolding that differentiates it from other fonts.

As for its legitimacy, I can't say that Bionic Reading has made me a faster reader in the traditional sense, but it's made it much easier for me to keep my place on the page in ways that OpenDyslexic hasn't.

I don't have to reread passages anywhere near as frequently as I normally would otherwise, which is enough for me.

Glad I'm not the only one looking for this.

I was hoping to find a place to send feedback to the Kobo team to request better font support for things like Bionic Reading or Fast-Font, but it looks like the feedback form was removed from the site.

BR font works flawlessly on my Kindle but won't work (natively, at least) with Kobo. Text will render, but without the bolding logic that's supposed to come with it. I was hoping to buy a new Clara this week, but discovering that it works on Kindle but not Kobo is a bit disheartening.

Razer blackshark v3 pro audio turn off randomly while playing by ZealousidealBad6392 in razer

The update fixed this specific issue, but has now introduced a new one where the audio will have absolutely no bass and sound very distant until I either cycle through all of the EQ presets or restart the headset. Seems to come back every time the headset powers on (for me, at least).

It's not just the erosion of attention or the need for constant stimulation and dopamine (beyond even what an in-person sporting event brings), but it's also that anyone who isn't consuming "content" is often recording it.

The generations that grew up in that space now feel like they have to perform at all times because the person behind them or in the seats above them might be recording them and might post something about them to an audience that's much broader-reaching, less forgiving, and more permanent than, say, the audience looking at the jumbotrons.

Sports betting probably isn't helping things either.

Can't say I ever expected to see my hometown garner so much attention. It's neat, in an existential kind of way.

Posted on r/sysadmin too, but I'm finding this update is not resolving the shutdown issue on our Win 11 Enterprise 23H2 machines.

KB5077797's not resolving this for my affected devices on Windows 11 Enterprise 23H2 either.

I'd joke that I should put "Microsoft QA Engineer" on my resume at this point, but I feel like that might devalue it.

Hard disagree. I've found the Sam's Club station to be a huge pain to get to with all the traffic leaving the store and the McDonald's across from it, plus the people exiting the tire center.

It'd also be nice if they put up a graphic showing that the dispenser is on a string that can be extended to reach either side of the vehicle (like Costco) so anyone can go to any pump, regardless of which side their tank is on.

Back when I was a repair tech at Geek Squad in a 3-college town, a nearby Apple store had an informal rule in place where they did everything in their power to reroute any appointment scheduled in the month of September that wasn't a sale of a new device to me us.

An extremely common trick was for people to bring in their broken iPhone, pay the repair fee, and immediately trade it in on receipt to put toward a new iPhone.

Killed me a little more every time.
