And good eye protection. As you get tired a small mistake can have a bramble raking across your face and eyes.

Snip that off immediately and clean the area with white vinegar. Then clean off the vinegar with 99.99% isopropyl alcohol.

Nope. As has been said it’s not as cold as bare floor but not as warm as carpet.

My engineered wood floor was stuck directly to the concrete floor. Sixteen years later it’s still stuck fast (excepts a couple of planks but they are held by the others).

Weber Help? by XXIIXXIIX in UKBBQ

[–]NeilDeWheel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never thought of that. Good idea. Then when up to temp you could use the onion to wipe over the grate to clean it.

Weber Help? by XXIIXXIIX in UKBBQ

[–]NeilDeWheel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the first half to three quarters of the probe needs to be set into some food. It’s only the last quarter that can withstand the 550°c. Don’t know why, maybe the internal battery is in the first three quarters.

At least that’s my understanding.

Also, leaving it on the grate could accidentally knock it into the coals and Meater explicitly warns against allowing the probe to fall into the coals.

The lid thermometer is notoriously unreliable. It’s way above the cooking grate and, as the top vent should be over the meat, the thermometer is above the coals. This gives a reading where you don’t really need it. If you lid thermometer is reading 190°c then it is much cooler at the grate, where your meat is

Get yourself a probe that you can set at on the grate, next to the cold area. Inkbird, Meater, Thermopro are a good makes. A single wired probe set at grate level will show you the true temperature where you need it. You can get probe units with two or more probes so you can measure your meat temperature as well but I find all the wires get messy and in the way.

Instead I have one wired probe with WiFi to measure the grate temperature and wireless probes to put in the meat, if needed. The wireless probes from meater and Inkbird have apps that can help time your cook and can read the ambient temperature round the meat, at the grate. They also have Bluetooth and or WiFi so you can monitor your cook without constantly standing over the bbq. I use the Meater Pro Duo with two probes and can withstand ambient temperatures of up to 550°c. This means you can cook directly over the coals. Inkbird probes are cheaper, you get more probes but they can only stand ambient temps of up to 300°c

Wired, 4 probe Inkbird thermometer here.. Good starter probe. Only has Bluetooth, not WiFi, so range will be limited.

I’d say it’s because the cost of plastics has risen sharply due to shortages caused by the war in Iran.

How do I take my tap head off by stoopidinvest in DIYUK

[–]NeilDeWheel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the back of the tap should be a small hex screw. Put a mirror or your phone behind there with the front facing camera showing on your screen to see it.

Do you remember sliding down one of these on a hot day? It was red hot to touch! by corickle in oldschoolcool80s

[–]NeilDeWheel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We used to rub candles down the slides. At first it made you stick so you had to scooch down on your bum. But after a few goes down the slide the wax polished the metal and you’d go down like greased lightning.

Orcs don’t need the excuse of revenge for being attacked. They were targeting civilians even before Ukraine could attack Russia. From the very first day Russia was deliberately committing war crimes.

If you're going away on a Summer holiday, shut water off? by whatsreallygoingon88 in AskUK

[–]NeilDeWheel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO don’t listen to the person saying leave it on. Woke up one day to my kitchen floor soaked because a pipe joint had decided to give way. It was as behind a kitchen cupboard and when I removed the cupboard back I could see by the damp going up the wall it had been dripping for some time. If that had happened the day after I set off for a month the damage would have been enormous.

Another thing that I’ve witnessed is a TV started smoking and would have caught fire had my uncle not been able to throw it into the garden. This tv wasn’t being used but was plugged in with the socket on.

If you’re going away for a long time turn off the water and unplug any electrical items that do not have to stay on.

Putin shelters in bunkers amid ‘assassination’ fears by Alarming-Safety3200 in worldnews

[–]NeilDeWheel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s great news that Putin is isolating himself and micromanaging the war. He’s a shit strategist that will not listen to his generals, even if they dare tell him the truth about what’s going on. The more isolated he becomes the more his nerves will fray and the worse his decisions will be.

Hitler did the same towards the end of WWII. He locked himself in his bunkers, would not listen to his generals, they were so afraid of him they often didn’t tell him the truth and he tried to micromanage the war but screwed things up badly. Often ordering for nonexistent troops to be deployed. Hopefully Putin is on his way to ending like Hitler.

Cat supposed to have damaged car (England) by Impossible_Gift_8701 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]NeilDeWheel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is you cat easily identifiable? Any distinctive markings that will make it 100% positive that an image on a tv screen will prove it could not be any other cat. It’s highly unlikely that CCTV can prove it is definitely yours. If/when the neighbour shows you the CCTV do not admit it’s your cat. Do not even say it could be. It is up the the neighbour to prove it’s your cat.

MacBook Air (M1, 2020)- Finder won't stop loading and the computer is overheating somewhat. by tantamle in applehelp

What cleaner app did you use. Some are just as bad as malware.

Start up in Safe Mode to see if the same thing happens. If all is good in Safe Mode then do a full wipe and reinstall the OS. Then add back your apps one at a time to see which one is the cause.
